Rugged... Phffft!!! Shiny Junk!
by GarthKlaus on November 8, 2008
Pros: Looks good, Easy to use.
Cons: Limited lifespan <90 days. No support from Nextel or Motorola. NO WARRANTY!!!
Summary: I bought this phone to replace my beloved i305 that has been through 5 hurricanes, 3 tropical storms, countless drops and even my kitchen wall.

The i335 looks good and worked pretty well, for a few months. I received in in March 08 and by July... it was done. I took it to a Nextel store and was told it was 'water damaged' and would need to go through Motorola. I called Motorola who asked me to send it to them. They returned it unrepaired and referred me to Nextel. No one will take responsibility for the warranty and each tries to send me to the other.
As for the 'water damage'. This phone lead a sheltered life when compared to the Hell I put my i305 through. It was never dropped, used in the rain, or tossed through a wall.
Bottom Line: It does not live up to it's 'Rugged' tag and no one will stand behind it.7 out of 10 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I got this phone for my mother, she doesn't care about internet or texting she just wants a phone that is easy to use and works good. here is what she had to say: Big buttons are easy to see volume gets loud. Great audio quality, excellent service, it even works in the basement, good battery life.
I am happy that I found a phone she enjoys to use. I would highly recommend this phone to anyone who wants a no frills phone that works great.3 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Welcome addition to the rugged phone line!
by barney_cuf on January 9, 2008

Summary: This phone is a welcome modernization for the rugged line of Nextel phones. I've been a Nextel loyalist for 8 years or so with few problems with the phones or service that were not quickly remedied. This model is much lighter than any of my other phones and retains all the features I rely on. The i335 feels good in the hand and the call quality is excellent. I've waited a couple of years for a new phone and this one was worth the wait!

Nice hardware, AWFUL software.
by travistansbury on December 14, 2008
Pros: Physical Look and Feel.
Cons: Navigating the morass of menus and sub-menus. It's like using a PC. Nothing is intuitive and some stuff we all take for granted can't even be done.

Summary: I've been using Sanyos for years and boy do I miss them. Had to get a motorola for work and this was the newest one. I hate it. Its operating system is sloppy and unstable. It frequently freezes or reboots in the middle of work. It has no calculator. Recent calls are often recorded with no time, date or duration. There are dozens of other trivial quirks that, by themselves, are only minor irritations but when taken together leave me, and many other users I'm sure, with a powerful urge to chuck the damn thing out the car window.

Sturdy, simple phone. Does what it's meant to do.

Summary: Ultimately, this phone has very limited features, but it does them well. Call quality has never been a problem for me. The volume has a great range. The phone is really durable, even though the thin plastic lining over the 1-9 keys has started to wear off, you don't feel that at all. The keys themselves are great for dialing, texting, etc. The only thing to be aware of is that it's a really simple phone, no crazy apps for this one. My only complaint with that is that, for example, there is no alarm clock, only reminders through the calendar, which is sort of weird to work, and I've had some problems trying to get ringers to go off for that. The ringers in general are a bit strange to set up, but other than that, the phone works perfectly. Highly recommended for a simple, easy phone.

Ok basic phone with some flaws where they cut corners
by SeattleJ on January 1, 2010
Pros: The phone is basic, simple, rugged, it feels solid and is has a really, really loud ringer. It's a good size to fit in your hand and easy to talk on, and has a sort or rubberized grip on the back to keep it from slipping out of your hands.
Cons: The screen is soft plastic that scratches easily even with gentle use, after a week itlooked terrible. The rest of the phone is fine, but the part you actually need to look through the screen is hazy and scratched. And very short battery life.
Summary: The phone was only $59 to purchase, so I was not expecting too much, but it has two major flaws. The screen is very cheap plastic which is sub par ...
Summary: The phone was only $59 to purchase, so I was not expecting too much, but it has two major flaws. The screen is very cheap plastic which is sub par to anything I have ever seen on a cell phone before ever, and it scratches terribly. Also while I haven't paid specific attention, I do notice I have to charge it up way more frequently than any of my other phones. In fact, if I use it much during the day, I am often worried it will not last throughout the day without the battery dying, and I've never had a phone with such a weak battery that can't handle an hour or two of talk time a day.

Decent Cheap Basic Nextel Phone
by noahthefrog on October 13, 2009
Pros: Great for using as just a phone and walkie-talkie. The walkie talkie, if you and your coworkers/friends actually use it, is the most awesome feature for a cellphone to have. Sound quality is excellent. Bluetooth support. GPS capability
Cons: Phone software is slow and simple. Data speed is slow. Uses the old Nextel iDEN network, so there's no real roaming possible. No CDMA or GSM cross-compatibility. Default text entry setup is terrible, but can be adjusted. Default theme is awful.
Summary: I like this product for what it is - A simple cellphone with good sound quality. Combine this with Boost Wireless's $50 unlimited plan and you got a cheap ...
Summary: I like this product for what it is - A simple cellphone with good sound quality. Combine this with Boost Wireless's $50 unlimited plan and you got a cheap working phone & walkie talkie. The boost mobile theme is a lot more tolerable than the default blue-grey theme, which is almost impossible to use. Overall a good value, but not hi-end at all.

Very Good Basic Phone.
by duboisdanj on July 14, 2009
Pros: It makes and receives phone calls. It sends and receives text messages.
Cons: It won't work if you run over it with your truck, or drop it in water, or if you only have 3 fingers on each hand.
Summary: This is a great basic phone. With Boost Mobile, I can make unlimited phone calls, send unlimited text messages and even check the headlines on CNN, SportsIllustrated and ESPN.com .... ...
Summary: This is a great basic phone. With Boost Mobile, I can make unlimited phone calls, send unlimited text messages and even check the headlines on CNN, SportsIllustrated and ESPN.com .... for $50 a month.... with no contract.
If you want more than that, then spend more money. If you want more money, then buy this phone.
Boost Mobile customer service has been AMAZING. This is not sarcasm. I was shocked at how helpful they were when I was transferring my phone number.
Call quality has been great. There are dropped calls, but every phone on every carrier drops calls from time to time.
Anyone that has anything bad to say about this phone didn't bother to do any research before they bought it. This is a great phone at a great price with great service. Simple, Easy, INEXPENSIVE, and it works.

If you love smart phones, you will hate this simpleton!
by Carrmuha on December 5, 2011
Pros: This was the cheapest new phone at my local shopping mall. I loved that it uses the same exact battery as the broken phone I was replacing. It has survived over a year of my heavy use and abuse, and it hasn't died on me yet! A very rugged phone!
Cons: A very frustrating phone. Severe lack of features and ease of use. Internet browser crashes incessantly. Undependable reminder alarms. Freezes often during heavy usage. No calculator. Spontaneously restarts. Turns itself back on after shutdown.

Simple but Tough
by elrich1 on June 5, 2011
Pros: Good call quality. Easy to use. Military spec tough. Good battery life.
Cons: Automatically locks to prevent accidental dialing. A worthwhile trade-off for slimness and exposed keys. Just unlock with the push of two buttons.
Summary: Those that complain it is not tough got defects not the real thing. This phone is like a Timex- takes a licking and keeps on ticking! Remarkable given its size ...
