The good: The Motorola i886 has an interface identical to that of Android, which makes navigation easy and intuitive. It has a rugged and durable design, a great keyboard, and a decent feature set that includes corporate e-mail support and Opera Mini. Call quality is fabulous.
The bad: Some people might be thrown off by the Android user interface because the i886 is actually not a smartphone. Photo quality is average at best, and the multimedia offerings are pretty basic.
The bottom line: Don't be tricked into believing the Motorola i886 is an Android smartphone; it's not, but it is a very functional Nextel messaging phone with Direct Connect and fantastic call quality.

Summary: This new entry may not be Android, but it has Android programs, such as the email program. As far as being a phone this one is excellent, as far as a text messaging device, it could be Nextel's best. But BEWARE! The email app will kill a battery in short notice! Unless you are in a location where you get good steady data, don't set up the email program, even when you set it to check once an hour, it can run a battery down, downloading mail off the network, since that can take twenty minutes alone. It's a shame they didn't include wi-fi. Reception wise, it did a lot better than my I1. In short, if you want a phone for calls and texting, this is a winner.

Summary: This phone sounds amazing! See, i dont actually have the motorola i886, but my contract ends in 2 days so i will get this phone if it is available. I know you might be thinking that it is a waste of time to read this because i dont actually have this phone, but for those of you that want this phone, like me, listen up and keep reading...
You may be upset that it doesnt have a touch screen, but i think that that is a GREAT thing. This is because many phones with touchscreens on the android market lag, or slow down and freeze, quite a bit. but with physical keys, you have complete control of your phone. Currently, i have the samsung m330, which is a basic feature phone with a 10 key keyboard. i am really looking foward to the full qwerty keyboard on the i886 because after awhile, it gets very annoying to have to text long messages on a 10 key.
if your like me and you really want a normal messaging slide phone, but nothing to advanced like a smartphone, than this phone is for you. -
My first Nextel and (faux) Android Phone.

Pros: Built like a tank. Excellent reception.
Cons: The buttons for both the keypad and sliding keyboard are a little stiff and typing is a little more difficult than I would like.

Summary: I really do like this phone. This is my first experience with the iDen network and the reception at least in my town is phenomenal. Half of my life at both my job and my workshop at home is spent in a basement and this phone has no problems finding a clear signal. That was not the case with phones I had that ran on Sprint's CDMA network. Surprisingly, with the help of Opera Mini, the data speeds, though not blazing by any means were actually not too bad. It's a shame that the iDen network is probably going away with the Dodo bird. The music player is pretty good and very loud. I used DoubleTwist to sync iTunes content. I don't really miss not having the ability to access the Android Market as the i886 with Exchange support, music player, etc, has all of the Android features that I really need.

Electronic JUNK
by mrkdman45 on May 21, 2011
Pros: NONE THAT I KNOW OF
Cons: Worst phone on the market, after 6 weeks it started ringing and no button would answer it, had to take the battery out to get it to stop. Best Buy wouldn't take it back because it took more than 30 days to screw up. They said send it to the manufactuer.an
Summary: DON'T BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP. IT NEEDS TO BE THE REASON THEY HAVE A LEMON LAW FOR CELL PHONES.
