So far... really good!

Summary: I've owned this phone for about 3 weeks now.. and I've been quite impressed. I researched just about every phone out there and this was the one that met all the criteria I was looking for in a phone.
I was a little nervous with getting another Motorola phone, because the last one I owned had a design flaw, where the antenna on the unit kept breaking off after normal wear. (v60 I believe it was)
So far, no major disappointments with this high quality phone. Whenever I use it in public, people ask me about it. So it definately turns some heads.
The only down sides that I can think of are the screen is right where you put your face. So if you have oily skin at all, it covers your screen in funk. Also, the volume level does not go up very high on the unit. I have the volume cranked all the way up, and have a hard time hearing on some calls, unless my ear is right in the "sweet spot"
Overall, I'd recommend to any body that was considering this phone. Hope this helps some of you out that are sitting on the fence.2 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Style without function is nearly useless by professionals
by spacegeek on June 1, 2005
Pros: It does minimally work as a phone and looks pretty.
Cons: A complete miss on the basic functionality I needed.

The Motorola software completely messed up my Outlook phonebook. The seperation of the various phone numbers to individual entries enlarged the phonebook from 300 or so entries to well over 1000. Additionally, I ended up with double entries... one for last name first and one for first name last. So, when I synchronized with Outlook a second time, the double names were copied into Outlook. Email addresses were deleted because they were to long for the phone.
To use the phone required painful scrolling because the Razr does not support spelling the name. So, to set up a conference call with 2 people was frustrating and time consuming.
The bluetooth does work, but not as well as it should. The Audiovox works correctly with the car hands free kit.
If you need to use Outlook, do not buy this phone. Find a Windows Mobile unit and save yourself a lot of headaches.6 out of 13 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: If you use this phone in anything but a sound proof room you will find yourself asking the person calling you "what did you say" numerous times. That is of course you hear the ringer from your pocket. Forget about the vibrating feature you'll never feel it. Like I said it looks nice and cool but you won't feel that way when your thinking you have a hearing problem

Summary: Ok, I picked this phone because My dad is a postal employee and he gets a really good break on phones... I'm use to my v600 and to this day it is my best phone.. The razr has a bad speaker phone, a weak speaker, lower quality camera and a slower shutter than the 3 1/2 year older predecessor the v600... The only thing the razr has going for itself is that it has a bigger screen and an even bigger following....

Summary: if you want a mobile to make and receive calls without bells and whistles that looks the business this is for you. i thought i had a problem with faulty battery, turns out i'd adjusted brightness and this seems to make the difference between the phone charge lasting from half a day to over 2 days, i've found brightness at zero is good enough to make sure battery life doesnt let you down.

Great phone, better if you have a USB cable...
by Atlink on January 4, 2006
Pros: Beautiful screen, great looks, feels durable, works wonderfully
Cons: Cingular bought version comes with extremely limited software, earpiece a tad hard to hear with volume maxed

Summary: I bought my RAZR v3 about a week ago, and I'm very pleased I did. It's worked wonderfully since day one, and if you're a bit on the daring side, or can read simple instructions, you can do a bit of "hacking" to truly unlock the potential of this phone.
The Cingular version, compared to my friend's T-Mobile version, was extremely limited with very few pre-loaded ringtones (Four, when I last checked), and one game, (Bejeweled Demo, which is one playable level). After downloading the stock Motorola software and installing it, I gained approximately 34 new "stock" ringtones, 3 games, and 2 extra MB of space.
Using Mobile Phonetools is great. Connecting your RAZR via USB to your PC, and uploading/downloading pictures, music, and video to your phone is wonderful. No more buying expensive ringtones. Upload and download to your hearts content. It's free, and you don't even need reception.
The earpiece is slightly difficult to hear at first, but with a slight bit of adjusting on your ear, it works like a charm. In louder environments, it's a bit more difficult to hear, but not horrible or impossible.
All in all, this phone is solidly built, great looking, great working, and fun to just fiddle with. I'd recommend this phone to anyone who wants function and style in a small and slim package.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

One Word: Perfection.
by ChaosBleeds44 on December 15, 2005
Pros: Large Screen; Excellent Reception; Wonderful Keypad (good from the Cingular extras); Too many to name
Cons: No EDGE, and it scratches

The phone's design is wonderful. I really like the aluminum, it makes it much sturdier and lighter.
I love to text message with this phone, I almost went over my limit I love it so much! The internet is surprisingly fast, despite the lack of EDGE. The ringtones that are included are "slim-pickins," but that is alright with me, because I download them from Cingular's wide selection of ringtones and games. The games feel like that are popping out of the screen, I use it more than my Xbox 360!
The phone gets decent battery life, for talk time it is amazing; I get like four hours. This phone is so cool, and I want to show it off so much I don't spend a minute not on this phone; so I cannot tell you the standby time.
The reception and call quality is amazing, especially for such a thin phone. Every call I make is crystal-clear, and I always mention I am on a cell phone and the person whom I am talking to is so surprised, it is wonderful!
I will probaly keep this phone for more than two years I love it so much, I honestly do. I think this phone is good for anyone who wants a nice, feature packed, attention-getting phone. BUY IT!!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great buy, too bad so expansive
by megaruski on September 17, 2005
Pros: Large LCD screen, all razor features
Cons: NO EDGE, almost impossible to read time when phone is idle. Prevous V models did a better job doing it

Summary: Well, one thing, cingular is one piece of ****. The only thing which is good about them is that they have biggest coverage, other than that go for T-mobile. But that's another story. Rzor V3 is great. Here is the thing to take a not of. When the phone is in the closed position, folding part of the phone (part which includes screen) will wobble slightly right and left. I thought it was only my phone, but then 2 of my friends have razors and their does same thing. Can send photoes directly between phones through blue tooth. Camera is just perfect. Quality just outstanding.

Great Style Phone With Very Few Flaws
by bstoringer on September 6, 2005

Summary: If you're looking for a very sleek and stylish, attention getting phone, you don't need to look any further than the Motorola V3 RAZR. Just about everyone that sees this phone wants to check it out. I prefer the black RAZR to the silver, which for now you can only get from Cingular (locked), but the features are exactly the same, so it's all a matter of preference with the color.
Because the phone is so thin, I do not even notice it when it's in my pocket. I have the plastic belt clip that is offered at the Cingular store because I don't want to hide the phone. It stays in the holster very well, but make sure you keep it on your belt or a level pocket or the clip will lose it's grip and the phone will tend to fall on the ground. Luckily the couple drops I had did not damage the phone at all, so that's also a vote of confidence for it's sturdiness.
The quality of this phone is very good as well. I'm not one of those people that change phones at the drop of a hat, so I can't compare it to other phones. But I've been quite happy with it's performance thus far. I haven't had any dropped calls yet and the reception in my home is good, compared to next to nothing with my former Samsung phone I had with T-Mobile. I don't know if it's the phone or Cingular, but my boss has the silver Razr and he's made the same comments.
The volume in the earpiece is not very loud and it's difficult to hear people in a noisy room. I actually hear better with my bluetooth headset, so I recommend using it if you can.
The browser is simply text only with limited sites to visit, but for me that's all I need.
I have yet to take advantage of all the features, like the voice dialing, so I may do a follow up when I get around to using the other items and I've had it longer. But for now, I'd definitely recommend it.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Excellent phone...good looking AND functional
by fernandoagarza on August 4, 2005
Pros: Thin, excellent lighting for keys, feature packed, loud, and reliable

Summary: This phone is not only aesthetically pleasing, but has all the features needed to qualify it as a true multifunctional mobile phone. First, as a phone, it performs magnificently. The ringer is loud, the earpiece volume is adequate, the speakerphone is very loud, and people on the other end of the line can hear me just fine. I've never owned a Motorola phone, and I found the menu system a bit difficult to navigate even after I had read the manual. The manual isn't wrong or anything, it's just that naturally and intuitively you might want to press a different key rather than what is required according to the manual. The learning curve isn't too steep though...took me about a couple of days, nothing bad. I will mention however, that I've had this phone for about a month and I still get a little confused with the side keys and what they do when the phone is closed and when it's open.
After downloading the updates to the phone link application on my Tungsten T3, I clicked on the V3 and within, literally, 30 seconds, the two had bonded and I was checking email off of my Tungsten. Nice. Very nice.
The display is bright and large. My fingers are big and fat, but I had no problems navigating menus and making calls. I've had problems with other phones. Also, with XXL gloved sized hands, I enjoyed the fact that while the phone is slim, it's still tall and wide. Nothing that detracts from its overall design, but for someone like me, it's a big big plus.
What I'd like to see is maybe a constant backlight for the external display, albeit dim to conserve battery life, which is astounding as is. But close the phone and the external display goes dark. In direct sunlight you can make out the time, but nothing else. I guess that was the idea behind the "black version"? Don't know.
Overall, well made, functional, and pretty. I always have signal, even in my "embedded" apartment surrounded by multiple domiciles. Mostly around the two bar range, but when I go outside, it's always 5. I heartily recommend this phone.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
