The good: The Motorola ZN5 offers a fantastic camera with a wide range of options and excellent photo quality. The plentiful feature set includes stereo Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, the design is sleek and sturdy, and call quality is more than respectable.
The bad: The Motorola ZN5's memory card is located behind the battery cover. The menus can be pokey at times and the camera interface could use a refinement. Also, the ZN5 lacks video editing features and the photo uploading process had a couple of hiccups.
The bottom line: The Motorola ZN5 is the best camera phone we've seen so far. But it doesn't stop there, as it's a good phone, too.

It is a Camera first, Phone second.
by full_bore on November 20, 2008
Pros: 5 MP image was fantastic, Zenon flash great, call quailty and signal better than average.
Cons: VERY slow reacting key pad, while dialing phone numbers you push a digit wait, push again wait, push again then 3 of the same number popped up. Kodak software for upload wirelessly locked up every time. Very difficult for texting.
Summary: I returned mine. I liked the camera, but the lag time between menus and functions was unbearable. Was very difficult to text from. Key pad designed for small fingers. Menus ...

This phone was a letdown
by aprilelise on May 2, 2011
Pros: -Amazing camera, probably the biggest draw for buyers
-Nice look (though strange)
-Simple features-easy to use
-Simple texting and calling features
Cons: -It would randomly turn off. Midtext, midcall, would never save when it did randomly died
-Would frequently freeze (this eventually became almost unbearable)
-Little customization available
-Not enough features for the price (it was just too simple in my

Summary: I was so excited about this mainly for the camera, the biggest draw really but was so letdown when I realized the camera hardly had an features. Great camera but what you get is a basic photo with a handful of options. This wouldn't have been as big of a deal had the phone made up for it in other features or another great feature but it really didnt possess anything great beyond photo quality and memory. My phone would regularly just die, even with a full battery. It would freeze at random times too which was extremely annoying and not something I'd seen a lot in phones I've had in the past. I think the concept was great behind it but in general, Motorola tried packing far too much into something and ended up falling short just to keep it in a decent price range. Understandable but some of the most crucial and obvious things were left out.
Best camera cell phone
by danielsen66 on December 31, 2010
Pros: Best picture/video quality ever seen, best sound/clarity of phone ever heard, looks nice, fairly user friendly for a non-technical person. Dependable even after having it for two years already.
Cons: Sometimes it takes awhile to turn on. I've read that there's a bit too much packed into it which causes that. It's not a touch screen. I'm not into texting so I can't rate that, I think the processor is a bit slow for web surfing.

Summary: Dec 31,2010.Bottom line is if you're not a texting or web surfing fiend then it's great. It takes the best pictures I've ever seen with it's 5 megapixel and xenon flash camera (better than my sony handycam ) I even used it at Disneyland instead of my digital camera! It has the best clarity and sound. It was larger than the phones I've used (in this decade ) but because of that it's easier to hold. I've had this phone since June 2009 and it hadn't failed me yet ! Just bought a used one off e-bay for my husband.

Pros: Nice camera
Cons: It's so slooooow. The camera will only actually take a picture 25% of the time, the rest of the time it won't capture the image.

Summary: This phone is not worth your money. They tried to cram too much into not enough processing power. It's so slooooow. Texting can take up to 10 second to respond to me hitting a letter. It's constantly trying to "sync" with t-mobile and getting errors. I often can't access my phone because of syncing issues which is ridiculous since I don't update my phone book online. Syncing has also causes the same contact to repeat itself several times in my phone book. I've already traded the phone in once for a new one and the new one has all the same problems. Have also traded in the SIM card to no effect.
It may be the best Bar-Phone made!!

Pros: Excellent call quality/reception I have ever heard.
Great camera with great flash.
Excellent MP3 player.
Wi-Fi works great.
Cons: Not great for texting (small size).
Hesitates sometimes when processing info... not a big deal.

Summary: We bought a second one of these for our daughter after she tried mine for a week. She loves it. Wishes it had a full keyboard, but would rather have the smaller size and dependability of the ZN5.
These have been great cell phone/camera/MP3 players for us.
Face it, the phone is #1 priority for us...it is a winner. Great reception and call quality!!

Great Camera Poor Phone
by Ginya203 on July 18, 2010
Pros: The camera on this phone is the best i've ever had on a camera phone. It takes great photos and the video clips come out pretty good too. The phone is very sleek and easy to use. The screen is nice size and the colors are brilliant.
Cons: I bought this phone in June 09 and have returned it for variious reasons 5 times over this last year! The phone quality is the primary issue. It is not a phone for heavy usage. Texting is cumbersome and web access is very slow.

Summary: The camera is the best feature for this phone. The phone is the worst i've ever had. I had to return this phone five times over the last year due to issues ranging from poor audio quality to the backlight staying on continually and draining my charge. It got mediocre reception inside buildings especially Walmarts and Walgreens! (Go figure???). My Motorla RAZR ran circles around this phone...and this was an upgrade! Overall, If you want a device to consolidate the number of devices you carry with you, i.e camera, phone and mp3 player, this is a great device. But if you rely on this phone as your primary telephone it does not stand up to heavy usage nor is it a convenient texting device. Using this device for web browsing is mediocre at best. Even using this phone hands free was horrible due to audio issues...this phone rarely recognized my voice commands so this was a useless feature. This phone gets 3 stars based on it's camera...period.
This phone = 1.5 years of problems for me!

Summary: I've had this phone for almost 1.5 years. It served all of my camera needs well, the pics are almost as good as my 5 megapixel camera. But the whole time I've had it, the phone has been finicky at best when it comes to the OS. It constantly takes forever to load or locks up. I only use my phone as a phone (or camera), so it's not like I'm even asking much of it. For a long time, it would go to the Motorola loading screen spontaneously during a call (or anytime), and stay that way for 5 minutes or more, thus dropping calls constantly and forcing me to wait to dial the person back. I updated the software and that got better, but I am still always dealing with problems. For instance, I finally deleted my entire photo library so that I would have space for new pics. Well, the camera doesn't recognize that all that space is freed up. I have a 2gb card in there that is useless because the camera still tells me that the card is full. This is the straw that broke the camel's back, so today I finally ordered a new phone. I would NOT recommend this phone to anyone who is short on patience and problem-solving ability. You'd have to desperately want the camera to put up with all the other drawbacks.
