Alright so i got the pantech caper just today and ive had time to analyze it. It was originally 79.98 but i got it on sale for 69.98 at a target. The phone itself is mad of a hard plastic that is pretty durable and light. The back cover is a bit flimsy though and may snap. But other than that its build is nice. The camera on it is a 1.3 megapixel camera and by no means a decent camera. U have to adjust the brightness everytime to get a somewhat clear photo or else u get this lil green mix of colors. The phone software itself lacks a lot of features in customization or personalization of the phone. You can't send saved sounds to other people which is inconvient but i found a great site to make free ringtones. www.myxer.com/make What i like about the phone is the messaging features. On the verizon network it is extremely fast and the organization of them by contacts makes it easier to read messages. My first verizon prepaid was a samsung intensity which took better pictures and had better features. THe pantech caper lacks a bunch of downloadable content that my intensity had for some reason. I Dont see why this should be so since they run on the same network. The most important thing to me is expandable memory so that i can load on my music. This phone, the pantech caper lacks both a micro sd slot and an mp3 player. So the only memory u have is the 128 megabytes of internal memory. ANother con. No music player. OVerall the phone is average and is great for everyday texting and calling but don't get this phone thinking ur getting some high classy knock off version of a blackberry. It is by no means the best but is great for its money's worth The battery life is very good. When i first got the phone it was half way full so i used it until it was completely dead then charged it all the way back up. This is know to improve the batter life which aparently it did for it lasted 2 and a half days before notifying me of a low battery. My friend called me from montana while im in virginia and the call quality is outstanding. He told me it was very windy outside where he was at but i could only hear the clear sound of his voice. The reception is great and the quality is even better for the price i currenty have my phone on the 0.99 daily plan with the 20$ unlimited messaging bundle -_- I will pry get a video review of it up sometime and will post up the link asap.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I am a very basic user and I love the unlimited voice, text, and web. Over all, I like this phone. I've been with Verizon for 6 years so I'm use to saying NO to anything that charges extra. I have a feeling that Verizon will be upgrading and adding new phones very soon. It's good to see Verizon has finally jumped onto the prepaid ban wagon.

Simple phone with annoying problems
by Pinlight on August 4, 2011
Pros: Good voice quality. Decent reception. Good battery life.
Cons: Buttons too sensitive, goes off when bumped. Nav control goes into Web mode too easily or while in pocket. Buttons on all sides prevent the use of a case or way to keep the phone isolated from being inadvertently triggered. Bad ergonomic design, bad user

Summary: I'm torn in my opinion of this phone. It has a terrible user interface, hypersensitive buttons that go off no matter what you do, (including using the incredibly lame "lock" feature). When using it with a bluetooth device you are constantly hearing your phone beeping anytime it's touched. Setting it down in your car -- if it moves and happens to touch an adjacent surface, it's beeping in your ear. It goes into camera mode by itself, text mode by itself -- I think you get the idea. There are times where I'd like to throw it out the window.
Alternatively, the phone has good voice quality. Pairs with bluetooth devices well and quickly. The camera, while the screen isn't the greatest the internal components are capable of taking remarkable pictures that can be uploaded. The USB cable does not interface to your computer to do downloads. The text features are hard to read, i.e. the punctuation characters are indicated in a magenta color and are almost impossible to read. The buttons aren't the greatest but work for entering text. Voice commands work fairly well for such a cheap phone, but are prone to problems if there is any background noise. Battery life is excellent. The case of the phone is cheap, easily scratched and damaged. Phones always slip out of your hands, and since there isn't a case available it will get some bumps and bruises. One simple bump caused the battery cover to not want to stay on until I had to take an X Acto knife to it to remove some plastic flashing around the edges that was preventing the case from closing properly. Okay, so what do you want from a $60 phone, right? It works better on voice and on Verizon's network than my iPhone did on AT&T's network, but is only a shadow of a phone compared to the iPhone. However, I needed a phone to make phone calls primarily, and all the great things the iPhone did that didn't depend on AT&T's network didn't help me make a simple phone call.
On a positive note, the one thing the Pantech gives you is freedom from a 2-year contract / commitment to Verizon or any other phone company. You pay $50 a month for unlimited phone and text service. For that, you have to put up with a sub-par piece of equipment with overly-sensitive buttons, but you won't get taken advantage of if you want to switch companies after a month goes by. With phone companies becoming all too powerful, that in itself is perhaps the best feature. -
The phone is okay, the charger is pure junk.
by DillonSmith on July 27, 2011
Pros: Full QWERTY keyboard, great for texting. Great call quality
Cons: The charger. After about 2 weeks the thing acted up and I had to mess with the cable to get it to charge every night. Gosh, the charger needs a major upgrade.

Great For Parents And Small Children
by misstaylerrae on July 13, 2011
Pros: The keyboard it a full keyboard which is great for texters. Ringtones play very loud and at a great sound quality. The caper is very light and inexpensive. The phone is fairly easy to set up and get going.
Cons: The first one i bought had a back piece that was built wrong therefore i had to take it back and swap for another one. There i learned that many people had the same problem. The picture quality is horrible therefore i do not take pictures on my phone and

Summary: The phone is an okay phone and would be great for small children and parents wanting to step up from a flip phone. Coming from a teenager i would definitely not recommend this phone because it is too slow and not at all for entertainment and strictly for communication purposes. This phone would be great for temporary use. The phone does not seem as a phone that will endure much time of use. Compared to other prepaid phones this one may look the best but the others beat it entirely!!!
