The good: The Pantech Link is thin and sleek with a rubberized backing and a nice QWERTY keyboard. It has a 1.3-megapixel camera, a music player, 3G/HSDPA, and support for AT&T's new cloud services. It is also very affordable.
The bad: The call quality could be improved and the HTML browser seems wasted on such a small screen.
The bottom line: The Pantech Link is an absolute steal with an excellent array of midrange features, a great slim design, and a wallet-friendly price. We wish only that it had better call quality.

Summary: Again, decent phone...but...just barely. If you do not have a data plan, you "will" get hit with data charges (unless you are extremely, extremely careful). Buttons (Navigation) are not programmable; meaning left, right, and center "will" access the network (meaning data charges). Camera is poor; only 1.3 Megapixels. Music player is a joke, you have to have a compass and map just to find it. Using a bluetooth dongle on your computer is a joke; you can get it to work, but, you will hate how "unintuitive" it is. Phone address book is a joke; you can only put in so many characters before it stops you; some contacts come out as "John Smith - plumbe"....you don't get to put in the "R". You will have 2 clocks on your screen (why?...I have no idea...it's just this way...for some dumb reason). Blue "Fn" keys (wonder if that stands for "Function" or "F'ing"???) keys are extremely hard to see...if you want to type a word such as "it's", the ' is above the M (what makes it hard on you is the color and the way the qwerty buttons are rounded...get some light overhead and it makes it worse). Button to take a picture is on the lower right and side of phone...extremely weird layout except for those times you may take a picture with the phone turned sideways. Don't have any voice dialing feature...not a huge issue but would be nice to have. Menu icons should be deletable. I don't want (nor do I need) some of the crap on the phone (i.e.; IM, Mobile Email, Mobile Web, YPmobile, AT&T Music, or Online Locker). It's fine that this stuff is on the phone, but, please give me the choice of moving or deleting it if I want to. I find it extremely frustrating that you can't delete these items. Especially if you don't have or don't want a data plan. I can foresee some type of litigation concerning this...especially since you can't set up the phone to "not" access the data network.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give this phone a 4 as it currently is. If the Cons were corrected, the phone (for a "basic" phone) would jump up to a 9. The phone does have some nice features, but, these "nice" features are offset by the horrible ones you "will" run across. I am debating on whether or not to send it back to AT&T.........hope to run by a local AT&T store to "play" with some other phones to decide what I'm going to do.
As a side note, my wife gave this phone to me (early) as a Father's Day gift.....hate to sound unappreciative, but, I really wish she would have consulted me first. Of course, if you don't know what you're looking for, this phone looks deceptively good on the outside...it's the inside that sux. It's almost like buying a Ferrari that someone has put a Ford Pinto motor into.................3 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Pros: Great web browser I can watch YouTube videos and do mobile banking without paying for an expensive smartphone data plan! I can also download files off the internet.
Cons: The ringtones that come with the phone are all junk!

I did this and the battery will last 3 days even with heavy web browsing and using AT&T navigator GPS. The phone has two different web browser-use the one that shows "AT&T net" when it loads, it is a full web browser you can watch youtube, download pics from google image search, even download videos it let me download from a "iphone" video site the files were in .3gp and do work on this phone. The "AT&T net" browser is listed in the main menu, the other browser that is like a wap browser is in the applications/My Stuff menu and it is not a good browser so only use the one that is in the main menu (you can also hit the big circle button on the phone in the middle) it is a full HTML browser, some of the people on here complaining about the web on this phone I think were using the wap browser!
The QWERTY keypad is very durable, keys do not wear out or stick like I have experienced with other phones,this phone makes it very easy to text.
One thing I do not like about the phone is the dedicated camera key on the side, when I hold the phone while on a call, I sometimes hit the camera key. Also the ringtones that come on the phone are all complete junk. I have also found that if I do not reboot the phone everyday, it sometimes will freeze, but If I do turn it off and back on at least once a day, it will not freeze up.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Pros: lightweight, price for phone, screen big enough to see, simple to use, pretty straightforward.
Cons: can't change the buttons that are set for the internet, text messaging, etc. buttons are a lot smaller than the blackberry. pics from the camera aren't that great-grainy. short battery life.

Summary: for a simple use phone, its fine, but the phone forces you to either cancel the capability to text pictures or pay for accidental internet use. if pantech is trying to make a phone that competes with palm or blackberry, they are way behind. this phone is in between a fantastic simplistic mobile phone and a cheap awful smartphone. pantech should really have kept this as a simple phone with buttons that can be dictated by the owner not set in stone with what the company has deemed to be important functions. the battery life only lasts for a day and a half (maybe) with med to little use. if you use it heavily, you'll have to charge it everyday. not a big fan of the phone, but because its inexpensive I'll stick with it for now. disappointing phone. unfortunate that I have to keep it because I'm not willing to pay $100 for a simple phone that I can change the buttons to what I like.

Summary: I got the Pantech link after reading many positive reviews online. But after trying it out for a couple weeks I was disappointed and exchanged the device. The first thing that I didn't like was the keyboard. It wasn't the size of the keys that bothered me, it was the raised, rounded shape of the keys that I didn't like at all. It seemed like if you didn't hit them just right you ended up hitting other keys instead. I have small fingers but had to use my finger nails to type and would make many mistakes if I was going even a little fast with my typing. I prefer a flatter, rubberized key much better (like on the Samsung Flight).
The second issue that bothered me, that I think is a necessity even for a non-smart phone, is a decent calendar. You cannot set calendar entries to repeat, therefore you have to enter the same recurring appointment in each time it will occur. Very annoying to me. One of the reasons I use this feature is to remind me of birthdays and that means you have to enter it in your calendar every year if you want an alarm to remind you. There is a birthday entry in the address book, which I thought was great. But the address book is not linked into the calendar so you can't get the reminder to pop up for them that way either.
The camera wasn't super...1.3 megapixels and no flash. I didn't take too many pics with it in the short time I had the phone, but I wasn't very impressed with the ones I did take.
The thin design of the phone is nice but the phone heats up pretty fast when you are talking on it for more than 5 minutes. The battery life was so-so. The battery in my LG Shine lasted for much longer than the Link did.
The pre-loaded ring and alarm tones were kind of lame.
I don't use a data plan so I can't comment on anything in that area. I liked the conversations set-up for messaging. I didn't like how fast the screen lock came on. I couldn't figure out how to change this but maybe there is a way.
Bottom line is I probably would have just kept the phone, even given the other limitations, if the keyboard was better. I mainly use my phone for texting so that was the most important feature to me.1 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

I have dropped this phone and everything..it still held up . XD But since I have had it for over two years..today it has NOT been turning on and it when it does it turns off >..< but I guess I got my use out of it.

Summary: I've owned two of these phones now, assuming it would be wiser than spending $400 on a "real" AT&T phone, since my HTC Inspire didn't seem to like the washing machine. I'm freshly locked into a new AT&T contract, and I had no other options.
Serious problem: both phones ran into a serious glitch after only two months of mild use. Randomly, after getting a text message, the screen freezes if I try to go to my texts. I could do almost everything else, just no texting until I power cycled the phone (power off; power on). On the second phone, it happens more than twice as frequently as the first phone, and it's starting to seem that I will not be notified of incoming calls when the "glitch" decides to manifest.
Sad to say I was suckered out of yet another $50. If you're like me and you're locked into a new AT&T contract for at least another year, grit your teeth and buy the $10 version. Not fancy, and the browser is almost useless, but it's durable and will make calls. -

I pay for the same data plan as my dad with his iphone, yet it takes me 3 minutes to load my gmail on the browser whiles his takes 5-6 seconds. The browser also FREQUENTLY 404's websites and will not fix itself until after the phone is restarted

Don't get it. It appears to be a steal for a smartphone........but it's NOT a real smartphone. It just can kinda do some of the things smartphones do (with several monthly charges alongside) -
