Its a nice easy to use messaging phone.
by JCINWH on December 17, 2009
Pros: Size of the virtual key pad is large and comfortable. qwerty key pad is easy to use. touch screen navigation is a breeze. simplicity of phone is awesome. feels very sturdy. call quality sounded equal to my Black Berry Bold and IPhone.
Cons: No 3.5mm jack. Proprietary plug (requires an adapter to connect to computer and head phones). Speaker phone is not very loud.
Summary: Despite my quibbles the Samsung flight is a capable messaging phone. I have experienced only good call quality. The battery life is good. Music player sounds better than my IPhone ...
Summary: Despite my quibbles the Samsung flight is a capable messaging phone. I have experienced only good call quality. The battery life is good. Music player sounds better than my IPhone and equal to my Black Berry Bold. Bottom line Samsung Flight is what it is. A competent easy to use messaging phone that needs no apologies.

Decent touch screen with qwerty keyboard
by ba11man on January 22, 2010
Pros: qwerty keyboard
solid construction
touch screen
battery lifeCons: limited ability to customize the interface
not quite a "smart phone"
lack of threaded text messagingSummary: This is my first foray into touch screen phones (replacing a RAZR) and I'm happy with it, but I get jealous when I see my friends droids & iphones. ...
Summary: This is my first foray into touch screen phones (replacing a RAZR) and I'm happy with it, but I get jealous when I see my friends droids & iphones. Wanted a qwerty keyboard so I didn't go with the iphone. Plus, the price was right - FREE ($50 with a $50 rebate).
I've had no problems with the call quality or signal strength, but occasionally the internet connection goes a little flaky. Usually it happens when I'm at a large sporting event so I wonder if it's more of an AT&T problem than a device problem.
Salesperson bragged about all the apps available in the AppCenter, but most are games. There's very few non-game type apps, and the ones that exist are generally pretty expensive ($8-$15 per month).
Overall I'm happy with the phone, but I can see myself upgrading to an android based phone when my contract is up.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great messaging phone and dabbles at the multimedia
by colinor on December 24, 2009
Pros: Slider QWERT keyboard
Touchscreen so slider is not needed
Favorites Contacts as an option, once selected you can either select call, txt, video call, contact info
Camera is ok, good for a phone, hold it camera style with shutter on topCons: I did want 3.5 mm jack, and know next year there will be a standard charging port. I also hate it that samsung changes its jack what seems like every 6 months. Butt txted a couple times when slider slid openned
Summary: Great phone for my needs, no smart phone (too expensive), qwerty keyboard (takes me 10 mins to type a reply to a txt otherwise), speakerphone (not so good but decent ...
Summary: Great phone for my needs, no smart phone (too expensive), qwerty keyboard (takes me 10 mins to type a reply to a txt otherwise), speakerphone (not so good but decent enough, nervous about it, but turned out to be fine), cool ( i like cool new gadgets and toys), I have a lot less hangups, since you can close the slider during the call, two colors to easily distinguish with my wife's. There are a lot of other features not explored I can't comment on: GPS (pricey), Music apps, MobiTV(pricey). Probably even more that I don't even know about yet. My initial excitement for the social net died pretty quickly, but everything else is still cool after 2 weeks.
This year I had 4 phones, right now this is my choice, and most pleased when compared to owning the others for the same period of time, i.e. 2 weeks sfter having each. Upgraded my RZR lxxx to propel, it went for a swim after a 5 weeks in a cup of water, so zendoo.com to get blackjack2, my wife thought that was dirty so it got washed after 6 weeks, alond with the rzr, so got the VU, which got boring and hard to text on the touchscreen (6 months) so here I am, happy wtih the flight
P.S why does samsung have a noun name (flight), and then a code (sgh-797) on all their phones, just pick one or the other, much easier to search for reviews and accessories?2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Good phone but not for web browsing nor bluetooth modem
by russahouse on September 25, 2010
Pros: Solid in hand, nice user interface, slide out keypad is helpful
Cons: Mobile web browser is junk (slow), mobile e-mail is $5 per month, per A&T this phone will not blue tooth as a modem for your PC, proprietary USB connector / data cables not sold at AT&T store, heavier & larger than candy bar phones

Summary: The only "free" phone below the category of smart phone at the AT&T store. Trying to replace my LG Vu which has a few quirks but is otherwise a competent device. The Samsung Flight has a solid feel in the hand and a smooth slider keyboard. I would use this phone if only for telephone & text. Main problem with this phone is the mobile web browser. Takes 2-3 minutes to load the home page in a 3G service area. Interestingly, the AT&T Quick Tips link uses a different browser and is a fairly fast connection. The deal killer is "AT&T Mobile E-mail" which has a $5 subscription. Mobile e-mail is free on the older phones (such as LG Vu). And why pay for mobile e-mail anyway when it is free via web mail? Finally, while trying to use blue tooth as a modem for my Acer laptop, the AT&T tech support stated that the Flight will NOT do it. This was the main reason I was going to a "new" phone!

Miserable phone
by kturner75 on September 17, 2010
Pros: It's cute....that's about it. I guess the camera is ok too.
Cons: 1. The keys are tiny 2. Ttouch-screen works sometimes..it goes between being super-sensitive to having to touch the button several times to perform operation 3. It is cumbersome to handle 4. It's heavy (for a phone) 5. Battery life--ugh!!
Summary: I wouldn't recommend this phone for anyone! (See above cons). I am returning it today! I don't think it's a "lemon"; I think it's poor design ...
Summary: I wouldn't recommend this phone for anyone! (See above cons). I am returning it today! I don't think it's a "lemon"; I think it's poor design and functionality. And let me say, I am not terribly picky about a phone. I have had hand-me-downs forever, so I can work with most anything.

Very Good phone: KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid
by braceyoself777 on July 30, 2010
Pros: Very easy to use
Battery life is great compared to other phones
You can use either the touch screen or keyboard to text or dial
Simple operation overall and does its job good
Reception is greatCons: Slower processing time
Online/ streaming video's aren't up to par
The materials used are trying to imitate more expensive materials
Small keyboard buttons trouble some for those with larger fingerSummary: I've had several Samsung flip phones in the past 8 years and all of them were always simple to use, fast, and never let me down. One thing I'...
Summary: I've had several Samsung flip phones in the past 8 years and all of them were always simple to use, fast, and never let me down. One thing I've always liked about Samsung phones are their battery life, durability, and reception. My life style doesn't need the new generation of web base smart phones so my decision to get a new phone was held off because I was "afraid" the phone would have too many tools in the box that I would not use. I don't use the internet on my phone, check the stock market, or watch funny video's on social network sites. I use my phone for communication: talk & text...PERIOD! So when I went into my local retailer I looked at several phones that caught my attention. The Samsung Flight being one of them. I'm happy to say after playing around with the phone for less than 15 minutes, Samsung kept the operating system simple compared to the flip phones I've had in the past. Phone calls and texting are just as simple and I've gotten use to the new features available within the day. The phone isn't loaded with crazy personalization features....but its weakness is its strength. It was made for people wanting to switch from a basic flip phone to a "smart" phone, but don't want to be overloaded with useless features. It takes the phone 1/10th of a second to compute things but seriously, if you can't wait that long, you have issues that deal with your character...not how your phone works. Samsung got this phone right: KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid

Summary: I'm a very fast texter, and the QWERTY keyboard on this phone spazzes alot. It presses buttons that I dont alot of the time. The camera is really good, you get clear pictures every use.The Bluetooth works really well. The phone likes to freeze up sometimes and it doesn't fix until I take the battery out. It's a pretty good phone if you have enough patience for it.
