Samsung Reality SCH-u820 - red (Verizon Wireless) price range: $89.95 - $94.98

The good: The Samsung Reality has an intuitive display, three home screens, a 3.5mm headset jack, a nice keyboard, and features that include a 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS, and stereo Bluetooth.
The bad: The Samsung Reality isn't quite as good as the Samsung Rogue, has almost the same design and features, and is also on Verizon Wireless. We also wished the photo quality was better.
The bottom line: On its own, the Samsung Reality is a great midrange multimedia phone, but it doesn't hold a candle to the Rogue, which has a better design and better features.

Responsive, Respectable, Reliable. And Yes, Refreshing.
by donaldsd on May 6, 2010
Pros: 1. Large, responsive Touch Screen
2. Spacious, easy to use keyboard
3. Decent camera that is packed with features
4. Background music player
5. Excellent speaker when playing music
6. Full web browser
7. Speedy data connection
8. 3.5mm headphone jackCons: 1. Odd placement of keys on keyboard
2. Large widgets crowd the screens relatively quickly
3. Voices are (very slightly) scratchySummary: First, let me say that this is a definitive upgrade from my LG Chocolate Touch. The screen is more responsive and accurate, and it has the addition of a very ...
Summary: First, let me say that this is a definitive upgrade from my LG Chocolate Touch. The screen is more responsive and accurate, and it has the addition of a very nice physical keyboard. The music player isn't quite as nice or full featured (the Chocolate Touch has Dolby Mobile) but it's no slouch either. It's interface is pleasant and intuitive, as is the interface (Touch Wiz 2.0 if I'm not mistaken) for the rest of the phone. It doesn't have much in the way of internal memory, which is kind of a bummer, but it's still snappy and responsive. The widgets are useful, and while there aren't as many of them as on, say, that of the solstice (ie. no support for multiple clocks on a screen, which i find personally useful), the ones it has, like the Communities widget are innovative or very utilitarian. Pages load quickly when using the browser, although Verizon's insistence on using their Go To page is somewhat annoying. Otherwise, the phone is (so far) a great device with decent battery power. By the way, because this usually matters to me but nobody mentions it, I'm a 19 year old college student.

Summary: I bought this to replace my Samsung Glyde and am totally satisfied after a week. It has a large vibrant screen, excellent call quality and plenty of features. I have only explored a few of them. For $29 and the unfortunate data plan, I am glad to have taken a chance on this over other 3G phones that have been out there for a while. Highly recommended if you want touch screen and QWERTY coupled with multimedia and 3G abilities.

Cons: Changes settings on it's own and daily. Battery life terrible.

Summary: I am on my 3rd Samsung Reality in less than 3 months. This was my "upgrade" phone. Because of the constant problems, Verizon is now sending me a completely different phone, an LG. I just checked the Verizon website (11.1.2010), and ironically, it says the Reality is not offered at this time. It sounds like this phone has been yanked. And it has not been out very long. I think this phone was released before being fully tested. Do not buy this phone. My pictures were contained on the memory card and were set as my lock and home screen patterns, yet the settings changed back to the Verizon screens daily on it's own. On a 4 bar battery visual, when it got down to 2 bars, it went down REALLY fast down to none. For a supposed phone "upgrade", this was a PATHETIC option. I can see why it is no longer offered.

Summary: I bought this phone after Motorola discontinued my Rival. I've had the phone since July and I love it. My BF has a Chocolate Touch and wishes he had my Reality. The screen is like tapping an iphone screen and both Keyboards are great, The Qwrty keyboard could be a bit bigger. It comes with Facebook, Youtube, Myspace, Friendster, etc..
Great phone, you should get one ;)1 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: Just got this phone. it's GREAT! It's my very first smart phone, and its a great step up from my Motorola Rival. The rubber keys r easier to push for me than the plastic ones. And they don't make the loud annoying clicking sound. Slider is very sturdy. Touch screen is sensitive, but not too sensitive. Great features, and am awesome phone all around! :)

Summary: If you listen to music alot on your phone, DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!! It freezes and won't start back up unless you take the battery out or turn the phone off. It will not turn sideways when you slide the keypad out, and wont turn off, and you will have to take the battery out to get it working again. We sent my original phone back and got a new one and the new phone did the same thing.

Decent phone, not great, not terrible
by Quiscalus on April 1, 2012
Pros: 3 Homescreens
Responsive keyboard
Good call qualityCons: Comes unlocked very easily
Crashes when following links from Twitter
Somewhat flimsy- Not as durable as Samsung Rant

Summary: I had this phone for 1.5 years until I accidentally broke it in two halves. Overall a solid feature phone that seemed like it was rushed together. The 3 homescreens are a pretty neat touch for a non-smartphone, and I didn't have any problems with the slide out keyboard. It didn't have the same sturdy feeling that my previous phone, the Samsung Rant, had, and it was pretty buggy at times, especially when playing music or on Facebook or Twitter. All in all, if you're looking for an inexpensive phone to call, text and go online occasionally, it's a good phone, but if you're looking for a "nearly-smartphone", then look elsewhere. I now have a used Droid X and it blows the Reality out of the water.

A feature phone with a touch screen. Just Awesome.
by bonzifalls98 on January 24, 2012
Pros: 1) touch screen
2) feature phone features
3) nice display
4) kind of like the pros that other people gaveCons: 1) okay i haven't had any problems as in freezing; but it is much better then that piece of junk that the Samsung Rogue is; i tried to activate the phone and it froze; rebooted the phone and it was still frozen.
2) feels kinda cheap; material wise; -
Easy to use phone, without being "too much" phone.
by genericusername_2 on June 29, 2011
Pros: Menus are customizable and easy to navigate. Has SD card slot for lots of storage. Makes a good phone for people who aren't smart phone savvy. Not too big, but still big enough it's easy to use, especially with the slide-out keyboard.
Cons: Comes unlocked easily, so I pocket dial a lot.
