A solid well built phone
by taur125 on January 31, 2011
Pros: Good call quality, rugged design, good battery, and easy to use.
Cons: Cannot disable the PTT, and the camera quality is poor.

Summary: This is a very well built phone that can withstand a lot of punishment. It is heavier and thicker than most phones, but the phones that are made to military specs are heavier and thicker. The battery strength is very good, the signal strength is better than average, and it's menus are easy to follow. It has all of the extra features that I want in a phone, but when a phone is made without the ability to disable the PTT feature, I would assume that Samsung intended to sell it to only those who want this feature. I have had this phone since late June 2010, and I am used to the terrible placement of the PTT side buttons. All things considered, I would give this phone 5 stars. I have never owned what I felt was the perfect phone. I guess that is where taste and opinions come in to play.

Signal sensitivity is pure garbage!
by mmcss640 on January 28, 2011
Pros: Very stout and sturdy phone. Excellent external speaker. Great volume.
Cons: Replying to text messages is a pain; not user friendly. Don't need all the apps; they make the phone very clumsy to navigate.
Summary: The biggest drawback to this phone is the VERY WEAK SIGNAL!!!!! I like my old Moto RAZR better for the signal strength. Samsung, nice try but not good enough.

Poor Rating for this phone
by bruiser8 on December 27, 2010
Pros: Speaker volume excellent if that is important.
Cons: Very weak volume. It is heavy. The worst feature is the volume. The manual is absolutely worthless. is too small for web or such use and the phone is cluttered with web stuff you probably are not going to use. POOR..
Summary: Sorry I selected this phone. Weak volume. Okay indoors, but not outside or in vehicle. Amazing since this is suppose to be a tough phone for outdoor use.

Tough, maybe. But broken out of the box.
by ninetybpm on December 22, 2010
Pros: Probably lasts longer than your average $150 phone but I'm already shopping for a replacement.
Cons: Text messaging is buggy. Replies are not sent when you push "send" but instead silently stored in your outbox. You must navigate to the outbox to resend them. Every single time. Both Samsung and AT&T deny any responsibility for the issue.
Summary: Should have been recalled. You blew it, Samsung.

Can be cumbersome but this is one tough phone!
by Screaminhelo on November 28, 2010
Pros: This is a tough phone. Shock resistant, water resistant. Lives up to life in the military well.
Cons: Bulky, can't disable PTT

Summary: I love this phone! It has survived numerous drops from 10+ feet and being in the weather. The extra protective case is a must if you are truly tough on phones. I do not use the web browser, GPS or PTT features so I can't comment on these. I was looking for a basic phone that I wouldn't kill in a few months and that is what I found

It may be new, but it still is not user friendly!
by stilltuckerd on November 5, 2010
Pros: The speaker is really loud. Easy to hear in noisy enviroment.
Cons: Everything about the phone seems like it is default "spend money on AT&T," period. Your not allowed to block the internet, turn it off, require a password or simply confirm that you wish to use the AT&T's abbr version of the internet.

Summary: Several of the buttons on the phone are to access the internet and GPS. Thats really nice if that is what you want, but if it is not, then your out of luck. You can not shut the internet stuff off, to prevent accidental usage. This phone has a lot of different programs that want to use the internet. If you don't have the desire to use that stuff, then you can not turn that sttuff off. If I wanted an internet phones, then I would get an I-phone, droid or sometihng different. The owner/operator of the phones should be permitted to make the decision to turn the stuff off, not deprived of the thought process. Furthermore, you are not allowed to rearrange to icons on the phone, soft keys or anything else to where you want them, its only how Samsung wants them. No customizing permited. I miss my tundra, but they stopped using it.!

Mediocre. My Motorola Tundra was better
by legac896 on September 29, 2010
Pros: Size, somewhat rugged design
Cons: No external antenna - weaker signal, pics & videos clear but too small, poor zoom, no zoom on higher resolutions-no zoom & pan feature, cannot use ringtones bought from AT&T that downloaded to Motorola and stored on mem. card
Summary: It is not the worst phone, but I had better. If this were the only cellular phone available then it would be okay. AT&T sent this to me ...
Summary: It is not the worst phone, but I had better. If this were the only cellular phone available then it would be okay. AT&T sent this to me to replace my Motorola Tundra that I damaged. I called back and asked then to send me another Tundra instead - the Rugby II is going back. Tundra had shortcomings too but generally was better than this one. The Motorola Tundra with its external antenna pulled a better and stronger signal. ALso, I purchased and downloaded some ringtones from AT&T on my Motorola that are stored on my removable memory card - but the Samsung won't allow me to access or use them.

This is a sturdy, very good functioning phone.
by mandelyn13 on September 17, 2010
Pros: Stands up to everything a rancher/mechanic can possibly put it through. Tough case has been dropped, crushed, and still is working like it was brand new.
Cons: It is a bit bigger than I would like, but it is perfect for my husband.
Summary: My husband is the roughest person on phones. He is constantly dropping them in water or running them over. This phone has lasted through what would have been 5 phones ...
Summary: My husband is the roughest person on phones. He is constantly dropping them in water or running them over. This phone has lasted through what would have been 5 phones lives so far and is still going strong. We have used the GPS turn by turn on occasion and it works beautifully! We would recommend this phone to anyone who has an active job, or is just overly abusive to phones.

The toughest known to man
by shootr84 on December 18, 2010
Pros: This thing could very well be bullet proof
Easy to use
Simple
Good call quality
Decent signalCons: Simple
Not much flash... HOWEVER... you wouldn't want to take a sports car to war if you could have a tank... think of it that way, this phone is all about function.Summary: This is bar none the strongest phone I have ever seen. Summary: This is bar none the strongest phone I have ever seen. I left it in my parking lot one night and had my wife call my phone while I was outside to see if it was in my truck. It was a freezing rain and snow mix kind of night... when I looked down I saw some light coming out of the snow. It was my phoe, completely frozen under about an inch of ice... this thing was working just fine. I live in the city of Chicago. Just dropped this bad boy in the middle of Addison St.. I watched helplessly while it lay there flipped face open to the world. It was flattened by 2 tires of a passing taxi...bouncing around in the wheel well of the cab it flung itself shut and was spit out about 10 feet from the point it was hit... Is that all?? Not for this tank of a cell phone... it was then hit by a passing SUV, again both tires crushing down on it. Then hit again by another SUV and finally hit again by a car. It got sucked up by the back tire of the car where again it banged around in the wheel well and it was finally thrown to the side of the street near my feet. THIS PHONE STILL WORKS. The total of the damage?? Just a few cosmetic scratches and the added weight of the large pair this phone just grew! I love this phone
Outside of the fact it could survive a nuclear winter, this phone doesn't have a heck of a lot in the features department. It supports push to talk (think along the lines of next-tel type communication) However, no one really makes use of this so its useless. The call quality and signal are good and the large speaker does well on speaker phone.
Plain and simple what you get with this phone is a reliable cell phone that has decent tools and call quality (nothing wrong with it that I can find) with the strength of a M1 Abrams tank. If you want a lot of "Apps" and a screen you can stroke forget this phone... if you are going rock climbing in Iraq... then this is your machine.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
