The good: The Samsung Rugby II has a durable, comfortable design and a solid feature set. It builds on its predecessor by adding voice dialing and by performing better.
The bad: The Rugby II has a nonstandard headset jack and Samsung hides the memory card slot behind the phone's battery.
The bottom line: The Samsung Rugby II improves on its predecessor and delivers a functional, rugged phone with satisfying performance.

Summary: I would not hesitate to recommend the Rugby II to anyone, and I give Samsung and the Rugby II's designers a tip of the hat for keeping it such an excellent mobile phone. Considering that it was designed with construction workers in mind, I am lucky that my salesman, J. Rodriques, found just what I needed. I am a disabled golden oldie who needs a lot of different features, not only for my convenience, but also my health, communication, and even actual fun activities. The Rugby II has it all, and I won't break it by accidentally stepping on it, dropping it, or spilling my drink on it. If one of you is hesitant about this phone for yourself or a loved one, don't be - I think SR2 would ward off a speeding bullet, and I know that you could knock someone unconscious with it, and still use it to make that pesky police call. You should look at professional reviews for the real inside-out of it as I certainly am not technologically gifted. I do, however, know that this is probably the only phone that ANYONE can use, and the LAST phone I'll need. I will be surprised if it wears out before I do. If you need pretty, slap on some stickers. Otherwise, consider it your most reliable friend.

Pros: This phone has many great features. I really liked the sleek design with the hard military grade plastic skin. The large external speaker is amazing.
Cons: The phone is a tad bit bulky. But overall an amazing phone. Also the price is a bit steep but worth it.

If you want a good phone that will last, and if you only plan to use it for calling and texting, then the Rugby II is a good bet. Also, the issue with the phone refusing to send text messages has been fixed in the newest firmware update, so it's a non-issue.

Summary: THis phone now belongs to my wife as she is a classic "technophobe" living in the 50's tonight. She is very adverse to the touchscreen units, Blackberry's are worse as the keys are the size of a pin head. Her emphasis is not on social media-just rock solid communication that is there when you need it. Family is dying off and daughters are out with their own lives.
When I was working as a Field Project Engineer, this phone was common among my colleagues where the PTT AND cell phone features offered "get it done now!" assurances. THere is still a market for non-touchscreen phones, perhaps for seasoned citizens but as long as the exterior is not intimidating, the "innards" don't matter. -

Pros: Reception and audio are very good . (Telus, Ontario.) Keypad is larger than usual, good. Battery life is good.
Cons: The menus & navigation are very inferior to Nokia & Motorola, the other 2 I've owned. Confusing and counter-intuitive. The designers goofed. I can live with that, but much worse:: the exterior camera button is not recessed, & can't be disabled

I would not recommend the phone, due to the one serious design flaw. Every time I pick it up or take it from my pocket, I accidentally take pictures of my hand or pocket. Pros: Good battery life. Appears to be ruggedly built. Keypad easy to use for non texting usage.
Cons: Does not talk through Bluetooth nice with Ford "SYNC". Only recognizes 1st phone number for a person in the phones contact list. Have to manually select any other number desired. Other phones I have had did not have this problem.

The in ability synchronizing with Outlook means you have to enter your contacts manually and cannot down-load any appointments/meetings from your computer.
May be a Rugged phone but definitely lacks in usability in a commercial arena. -

Pros: Perfect for marine use. Contrary to what the CNET video review says you CAN use both screens as a viewfinder for the camera. To use the outside screen just press and hold the speaker botton on the outside.
Cons: Speaker volume is great and loud but normal volume is kind of weak even on loudest setting.

The hinge on the older version is solid as a rock, but on the rugby two you can feel it 's loose with little effort.

Summary: This is a superior flip phone that is easy to use and has all the qualities I wanted in a phone. I don't have the internet service plan, but have gone online and found the browser to be great and easy to use. I see that some have complained that they accidentally connect to the internet and wish they could turn it off. This is not a problem specific to this particular phone, but to all AT&T phones. I have found it easy enough to avoid connecting by using the menus in list mode instead of using the grid mode. And, technically, AT&T can disconnect your phone from their internet service, so that you can't accidentally connect to the internet. Whether they will do so willingly or not, is probably a matter of how forceful you are with your pleas.
Well, I guess I wasn't paying attention because my "pros" got chopped off! Ouch!
If you want a tough, good-looking phone that has all the pros in its corner and isn't just a pretty face in the crowd, I think you will love this phone as much as I do. The only reason I put down photo quality as a con is because, as a professional photographer, I have high standards for photo quality. The photo quality is not bad as far as phones go, though. It's great for sending images by text or attaching a photo to your contacts, but you will need to go into the menus and tinker some with the controls to get photos that you would want to upload to the internet. There are great controls for the camera, though, and the phone also has wonderful editing features that are missing in a lot of phones.
Like I said, I absolutely love, love LOVE this phone!!

Never had a call dropped or a text that wouldn't go through in the four months I have had this phone. Clear, colorful, and vivid display. Easy to navigate menus. Good speaker-phone quality. Texting using T9 mode is a breeze! Ringer volume goes from silent (obviously) to "so loud your great-grandmother can hear it from another floor in your home". AT&T has a wonderful tutorial for this phone online, if you need to clarify anything that's in the manual.

I was just saying that I have not had a problem with the PTT since I am right-handed and it is easy enough to hold a bit higher in your left hand. The button is exactly where I would want it to be, though, if I did use PTT.
Photo quality is not the best, but I am a professional photographer and I don't expect camera quality photos from my phone.
