Best "Basic Phone" I have ever used.
by Roonka on August 27, 2010
Pros: 1. Practical 2. Sleek, Modern.3. Warm orange color light, Large keys, Letters, Numbers.5 Cute Sounds, (keys, ringtones, alarm) 6. Loud,if needed, be it speaker, Blootooth, whatever 7. Charges fast, lasts long. 8. Sturdy 9 Comfortable to use.
Cons: I am very specific in how I want my icons and functions organized, and all of them can not be moved somewhere else... I will, however, survive:)
Summary: Obviously, we all want different things out of these phones.

I appreciate technology, but I do not need to check my email every time my car stops at a red light, or when I am coming and going while shopping, or while (before, during, after) I am on and off of exercise machines in the gym; where I am "informationally overwhelmed"by dozens of Tv sets, "appetizing" food channels; true crime serial killer documentaries, or gruesome news bits, anyway...
Well, this sweet Sanyo phone is perfect. Perfect for people who like to see sexy looking gadgets do precisely and reliably what they are supposed to do, that is to make phone calls.
Conveniently, I can see the numbers and letters without any effort, no glasses necessary ...It has voice recognition, so I can scream out "Call Lizzy!" to my blootooth or speaker, when I am driving home, tired at the end of the day and voila, there she is answering on the other end.
I do love its preloaded, rather sophisticated sounding ringtones. They could be considered a bit groovy in a conservative business environment, but definitely can not be mistaken for Lady Ga Ga or Puff Daddy tones.
The phone itself looks great, feels good to touch, push, shove, listen to, write and read text on. The functions are user friendly, intuitive. The size of the phone is not so small that I would have to be digging in my handbag until the sun goes down and even then I would victoriously emerge with a lipstick...
The dark blue screen and orange light is aesthetically pleasing and calming to the eye, such a simple thing, yet important when someone is using the phone frequently. Another- even if personal- preference, the phone is sturdy. I, for example, tend to drop it at least once a week, on average. I have had it for three months, dropped it too many times and the phone has suffered nothing else but a scratch on its shiny (sur)face.
Could it be quicker on the web? Just how quick does it need it to be? If it will take me 5 seconds to get to my email versus another, say, $300 phone which would take only 1.2 seconds. My problem is not how quick I get there, it is whether I have the laser eyes necessary to read the tiny letters of the email. Which reminds me of my technologically unsophisticated, refreshingly old fashioned grandma's question: "But why in the world, Roonka,- would you be trying to read a letter out of a telephone?? Wouldn't you rather ring them up?"
But all philosophical issues aside I can not think of a better phone. although I could have chosen a more expensive Sanyo version, which looks similar and is probably more sophisticated with its retractable keyboard and other functions, $50 more or less was not the decisive factor.
It is just that sometimes less is more, because it is exactly what you need.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Lots of Features in a Basic Phone

Summary: If you're looking for a phone with the features that most people want, look into the Sanyo Mirro. It's designed as a basic phone with options for texting and web surfing.
It's a flip phone with a decent size screen and large buttons that are backlit. Sound quality seems fine.
This phone is certainly not for everyone. Although there is a built-in camera, it has no flash. Also no video capability. If you are into texting, there is no QWERTY keyboard as well.
Cost is only $59.99 at most retailers which is great considering that no contract is required. Add in Boost Mobile's $50/month charge for unlimited phone, text and data services and you've got a great deal.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
