  Poor basic performer

  Pros: It makes calls.
  Bluetooth.
  Exterior phone display shows phone number.
  Solid construction.

  Cons: Poor reception (compared against other phones with same provider).
  Voice command software is slow.
  Lack of computer integration.
  Message alert light flashes infrequently.

  Summary: Had this phone for 18 months. 1) Biggest complaint is that reception is poor when compared with a different phone in the same location using the same carrier--dropped calls all the time. 2) To select the voice-activated command software, the software has to load, taking about 10 seconds. Once on, it requires a series of confusing voice prompts before it'll make a call. Maddeningly slow, clunky, and utterly useless. My previous LG phone required a simple push-to-talk feature which instantly made calls--the feature was always "on" and available. 3) I cannot connect the phone to my Mac--no downloading pictures or messages. 4) When there is a message, a tiny red light on the front flashes every five seconds requiring the user to stare at the phone for the entire five seconds. Furthermore the light is too small to catch your attention. I'm one to hang on to phones (i had my last one five years), but I can't wait to get rid of this one.

  Sprint Sanyo 3810 is best cell phone I ever owned.

  Pros: Best call quality, signal strength, speaker, microphone, and good speaker phone. Battery life lasts me 2.5 DAYS per charge. This is best cheap phone ever, best non smart phone ever, IMO. Also, a very good camera for a small non-smart phone.

  Cons: It's not a smart phone and doesn't have a full keyboard. So typing outgoing text messages or emails is a pain, but reading incoming text messages and emails is easy and convenient. My only complaint is the web browser application is lousy.

  This phone has best signal strength and call quality you can ask for. It sounds like a land phone and is most reliable cell phone I've ever had. It works in areas where other Sprint phones cannot get signal, and US Cellular and ATT also cannot get signal. How do I know?
  
  My dad's company had US Cellular phones that couldn't get signal at his office. He change to ATT and they also couldn't get reliable signal at his office. We switched to Sprint and I had problems with a Motorola Sprint phone not getting signal. My dad and others had problems with Sanyo 3820 not getting signal reliably. We switched all our phones to Sanyo 3810 phones and have been in heaven ever since. The 3810 Sanyo Sprint phone gets signal everywhere in our small town and rural community where other Sprint phones and also ATT and US Cell cannot.
  
  The only other thing as good would be Verizon, but they cost more.
  
  I'm going to get my mom a Boost Sanyo 3810 for Christmas. It won't be able to roam like my Sprint 3810, but that won't matter to her in town. Since my dad wouldn't get her a Sprint Sanyo 3810 on his business/family plan, I'll get her a Boost Sanyo 3810 and it will be almost as good, just can't roam in rural areas. But in town the Boost will be as good for her and cost less (since she's going to have a personal plan by herself).

  bad reception

  Pros: big buttons, battery life seems good

  Cons: bad reception, size of all the icons on top of screen is far too small (reception bars, message indicator, time, battery status indicator)

  Summary: This phone was to replace a sanyo katana LX, but has far inferior reception to the Katana LX. I only want a talk-phone, no data plan, but need at least good reception. So far this phone is terrible - It doesn't ring when people call me, and I get message notifications only the next day after they call. I even have Sprint's 'airave', which is the equivalent of a cell-phone tower in your house, and while my old Katana received a consistently strong signal from the 'airave', the SCR-3810 receives a strong signal only intermittently. So, sometimes, even while the 'airave' is on and working, the SCR-3810 fails to receive a strong signal and I get dropped calls.
  
  I called Sprint customer service, who told me I needed to go into a sprint store to get my 'preferred roaming list' (PRE) updated, and that the problem was not the phone, but I went into the store, and the employee told me there was no such thing as PRE, or at least that it would make no difference to reception quality. He said it must be the phone. I'm returning this, and would warn against getting it. So far, no one can tell me what model phone without data plan will have superior reception. Seems like either they don't know or it is hit-or-miss depending on location.

  OK basic phone, frustrating legibility and texting

  Pros: Appears more durable and longer battery life than Sanyo Katana LX. Bright display and large buttons.

  Cons: The very good display is marred by very small alert symbols and text. Why, why why did they bury "symbols" (punctuation. emoticons) in the menu system? Options>Text Mode>Symbols. Takes so much longer to add a comma or period to a text message.

  Summary: I liked my previous Sanyo Katana LX and expected a similar experience with the SCP3810. I do like the detailed main display and the higher resolution still camera. I'm 40 and find it hard to see the signal bar strength, missed message alert and the time. As mentioned above, texting takes more menu options than Sprint's previous Sanyo basic phone. The SAR rating is relatively low (same as Katana LX) so I will accept these puzzling shortcomings.

  This was suppose to be an UPGRADE.. but it wasn't

  Pros: bigger keys and bigger font (besides for signal, battery and missed alerts icons)

  Cons: Compared to my last Sanyo....this "NEW 3810" lacks the following:
  Charge phone twice as often, can only get strong signal if you are outside, DO NOT receive missed calls/text/voicemail beeps (only a flashing red light), do not always hear ringer

  Great Flip Phone with Quality Basic Features

  Pros: * Bright and highly readable display

  Summary: I really like this phone. It's just a basic flip phone but it has all the features I need for calls, pictures, and sending SMS text messages. Plus it's got a fantastic display and keyboard that are easy on my aging eyes. I don't consider myself to have large hands or fat fingers, but I find many keyboards to be difficult to type on. Not so with my new SANYO SCP-3810. The keys are large and forgiving, making it easy to send SMS text messages and to keep my Twitter account up-to-date. Great phone and highly recommended.
