by vande75 on June 26, 2011

*Mp4 videos play
*Mp3 audio sounds good and easy to operate
*Web browser pretty good and easy to use
*NaCons: *Does not recognize + sign before country codes and numbers for dialing or text messages. (Gives error when typing +country code and number to send text messages. As of 6-16-11 There are no instructions in Sanyo-Kyocera Operation Manual or on Boost-mobile
Summary: A few other cons:
*WAV files do not play
*Has bloatware from Boost like Hookt and IM messenger which are pay services

I sent this review on Kyocera-Sanyo website on this cell phone's page. It says: "Submit your review". After submitting, there was no confirmation page/screen. Looks like the reviews are either ignored or go into a black hole.
Those of you who do not fancy touch screen phones, this is exactly the type of phone for you. I do not like touch screen phones. I used a Samsung touch screen phone and although I was impressed with the features, I was not happy with the touch screen concept. I prefer QWERTY Keyboard phones. This phone has a nice screen to view pictures and videos. Videos play smoothly without any jitters. Sound quality of the mono speaker is pretty good. Speakerphone works perfectly.
Another thing that Kyocera-Sanyo engineers didn't notice is that while using this phone as a GPS, if the setting is set for the display to dim within few seconds, it dims while using GPS too and the TeleNav software(app) does not have a setting to keep display lit always while giving driving directions. I manually turn of display dimmer before using GPS.
Honestly, I don't use camera's in cell phones. If I want to take pictures, I use a normal camera which has proper resolution features, optical-lens, optical-zoom, along with a proper camera flash and exposure levels. But it is good to have a camera in a cell phone in case you are someplace where you need to take a picture and you are not carrying your camera with you.
The web browser and it's bookmarks settings is pretty good and easy to use with the navigation keys. In a few days I got used to the navigation key.
Overall, this is a good phone and has all the functions that most people need in everyday life.
Updated on Jun 26, 2011
*Navigation keys good
*Free GPS Navigation useful especially to see latest traffic
*Decent camera
*MicroSD card slot is a plus
*Secure battery compartment cover
*Facebook app a plus
*IM feature not free. $0.99 charge per day to use IM. (You can use IM from web browser for free).
Cons continued:
on Boost-mobile website for what to dial for sending international text messages although Boost-mobile has a plan which allows international text messaging)
*Disappointing to see that World Clock is missing India timezone. (Has neighboring Pakistan time zone to west and Bangladesh timezone to east, and completely skipped world's second largest populous country - India's timezone. I hope next firmware update fixes this problem)
*The rubber port-covers will not last as long as the phone itself. Should have used stronger plastic types used by Samsung and LG phones with matching body colors
*Has bloatware from Boost like Hookt and IM messenger which are pay services1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Not a bad phone for the price
by sabrelicious on September 30, 2011
Pros: Qwerty keyboard is great for texting, which is why I got the phone
Easy to figure out and operate (once you get past the unusual phone layout)
Easy access to email and facebook
Good battery life at firstCons: Camera quality is horrible
Terrible service for making calls- dropped calls all the time, or couldn't even make a call
Sometimes unable to send texts for unknown reasons
Didn't receive texts until days later for unknown reasons
Internet browsing is aSummary: I got this phone because I'm a big texter, and it served that purpose, especially since you get unlimited texts with the Boost plan. That's pretty much the ...
Summary: I got this phone because I'm a big texter, and it served that purpose, especially since you get unlimited texts with the Boost plan. That's pretty much the only good thing about the phone, but it isn't a bad phone for the price. I'm excited to switch to a different service provider with better coverage so I can actually make phone calls and talk for longer than 10 minutes without my calls dropping or my phone freezing.

Great functionality!
by sydneyannemchugh on September 21, 2011
Pros: *GPS
*Internet Access
*Decent Camera
*Friendly interface
*Very stylish
*Gets a great signal. I had a Sanyo Mirro, and it wouldn't pick up signal unless I left my house. I live in the middle of the middle of nowhere in the geographical oddity mentioned inCons: None that I have discovered so far. I mean, if you're snooty about your phone then you probably want a camera in your phone that you can use to create award winning photographs for national geographic as well as near perfect screen resolution and six mill

Summary: In summary, I am getting much better cell reception, the calls so far as clear as crystal, the texting is lightning fast and the web use is like dsl. Very acceptable, especially for the price. I'm not on the phone all day long, but when I am on the phone I like it to do what it's supposed to do. I am very excited to see how well the navigation app works, but I haven't tested it yet.
Moreover, it's stylish and pretty. The keyboard, as many other reviews point out, is very user friendly. The buttons poke up so you can feel them, and there are all kinds of quick buttons that make texting really great even if you're not used to a qwerty keyboard. Personally, I was never a fan of them. I always thought the idea was nice, but the implementation usually meant microscopic buttons that I knew I would not be able to use efficiently. This phone, as promised by multiple online reviews, is very easy to use and text with. I appreciate that simplicity of design.
In summary, this phone couldn't be beat for the price. It would be nice to carry the world's music, movie, and book library around with me. To me, though, this is exactly what I needed. -
Does what a phone does: Makes calls & texts.
by mpsilverio on June 25, 2011
Pros: Cool look
Light-weight
QWERTY Keyboard
Front panel doubles as mirror
Speakers are great
Battery lifeCons: Phone freezes
Turns off while deleting text
Calls drop
No flash & quality of camera sucksSummary: I got this phone as a gift this past Christmas when my BlackBerry 8330 broke. I didn't choose the phone, otherwise I would've got a "smart phone".
PROS: ...Summary: I got this phone as a gift this past Christmas when my BlackBerry 8330 broke. I didn't choose the phone, otherwise I would've got a "smart phone".
PROS: Really light-weight & compact. I love the fact that I'll always have a mirror on hand wherever I go. The speakers are LOUD, but it works when you're in a loud place. I text A LOT, so having a QWERTY keyboard is great! It's easy to work after a few days. GREAT battery life.
CONS: When I start to reply to a text and someone else texts me, the phone freezes. Totally sucks because I have to pull the battery out several times a day. Also, when I delete a text and press "END" instead of "OK", it turns off. It may not be a HUGE deal, but I get 15% of my calls dropped. You need a LOT of light for good quality photos. Even if you think you have good lighting, the picture is dark. They should put in a flash.
If you want a phone to make calls & text, this is a good phone. -
ok phone, decent price
by sambrown8809 on June 2, 2011
Pros: good battery life
easy to navigate
nice keyboard
good price
nice speaker (if your child doesn't drool all over it :P)Cons: the front screen doesn't stay unlocked. Even when you unlock it, it won't register what you click on.
You have to be careful when you type. If you hit reply and then someone texts you the phone freezes
cant use mp3s for ringtonesSummary: its an ok phone, its pretty good for the price but its hard to have a decent conversation with someone when it keeps freezing

I have one and it does the job I expect it to do.
by darcsyde747 on May 3, 2011
Pros: the faceplate doubles as a mirror. I love the qwerty keyboard for easy and speedy texting. and I just downloaded Opera for easy and simple web surfing.
Cons: the touchscreen needs to be recalibrate. to easy to the wrong keys for dialing.
