Excellent quality for the price
by mitzie2007 on May 17, 2009
Pros: it has a camera for those spontaneous kodak moments, sound quality is good and gets reception where I live that greatly surpasses that of Boost Mobile. I haven't used the blue tooth so I can't comment on those.
Cons: Texting is minimally difficult as there isnt great space per text message, and the quality of the photos are diminished at best if not holding the phone perfectly still or using in bright light. My zoom seems to not work tho I figure it is my phone
Summary: I like the phone and would purchase it again. The camera was very important to me and so was my reception abilities and not changing phone companies.

Lead exposure--This phone is not suitable for kids.
by readmyreview on April 22, 2009
Pros: Virgin mobile's prepaid service is great for those who don't talk a lot
Cons: Handling the cord of this phone's charger exposes you to lead (Check the manual carefully!). Definitely not suitable for kids! Do a little research and choose a phone that is not as toxic!

Summary: I like Virigin's inexpensive service and we've had 3 Virgin phones. After carefully reading reviews I purchased this phone for my child. Buried deep in the manual is the warning (required by the state of California) that handling the cord of the phone's charger exposes you to lead and you should wash your hands after doing so. This is apparently a common problem in electrical cords because lead is often added to the plastic coating. But there are many phones which apparently don't have so much lead (such as the Cyclops), assuming that the makers are complying with California law in their disclosures.
If you download the manual of any electronics you are considering purchasing, you can search for this safety warning. It can be hard to search for the word "lead" but there is a specific statement required which includes the word "California". (Note that there are various exceptions where the warning is not required, such as for infrequently handled cords).
Let's send a message to companies that it is unacceptable to market products to kids (or anyone) that will expose them to lead--choose a different phone! CNET you are the professional reviewers, you should be checking these things for us! -

Excellent value!
by lei77 on December 14, 2008
Pros: Price, design, reliable.
Cons: Picture quality is not great.
Summary: The camera could be a little better, flash would help. But for forty dollars, the phone has exceded my expectations.
