- Bottom Line:
- Though the new Xbox 360 certainly addresses most of the concerns we've had with the versions before it, we don't think it warrants a purchase if you already own an Xbox 360 in working order with an HDMI-out port and a hard drive.

Microsoft Xbox 360 S (250GB) price range: $245.00 - $329.99
- Reviewed by: Jeff Bakalar
- Reviewed on: 06/24/2010
- Released on: 06/23/2010
The good: Sleeker design; 17 percent smaller; much quieter operation; better cooling; touch-sensitive power and disc tray; 250GB hard drive; built-in Wi-Fi; five USB ports; dedicated Kinect port; onboard optical digital audio.
The bad: The hard drive is still proprietary; controller on D-pad remains unchanged; cumbersome power block; renders existing faceplates useless; no cables for HD gaming out of the box.
The bottom line: Though the new Xbox 360 certainly addresses most of the concerns we've had with the versions before it, we don't think it warrants a purchase if you already own an Xbox 360 in working order with an HDMI-out port and a hard drive.

A good product with some faults.
by erickj92 on December 2, 2011
Pros: The graphics are good considering its age, it takes up little space and the 250 GB hard drive is plenty for anything that I'd ever use it for.
Cons: It tends to freeze when playing some games, the DVD drive is very noisy and the power bricks growls after only having it a few months.
Summary: Good product and I recommend it to anyone looking for a console. The $60/yr fee to play online is a tad annoying, but the online play does have good ...

Summary: I really can not say enough good things about the Xbox 360. I have been the proud owner of a Zune for the past 3 years, yes proud and a Zune owner. I know the words don't normally come together. I could not be an iPod clone. I bought the Xbox after seeing one at my friends house. I am not a big gamer, more of a tech geek. I like to play sports video games. I bought this more as an entertainment center because it had it all. Video games, music, movies and television content. Maybe I am naive but I was amazed by the technology in this device. I have heard alot of people talk smack about Microsoft and this device. I assume that these are people who perpetually see the glass as half full. The ability to have one device for your video games, movies (be it Netflix or Zune Martket) and be able to access media content on your PC is by far worth the price.
I purchased the Kinect bundle. The Kinect is in a class by itself. The Kinect is easy to use and not complicated. The Kinect also has a voice activated system that works well. I have not had one problem with it understanding a command.
My personal favorite is having friends over playing music on Zune Market with the cool visuals on the television. Friend's alway comment and ask what it is, they love it. Zune player does the same thing, my friends also give positive comments.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Works Great!
by Bandito77 on October 4, 2011
Pros: No overheating like the original 360's
Internal hard drive
Internal wireless cardCons: None so far
Summary: Definitely recommended over buying a used/new 360 pro/elite. You get the 250 HDD for much cheaper than buying it at a later time.

Great gaming system.
by browndevin39 on August 9, 2011
Pros: Sleek. Larger built in hard drive (optional). Built in Wi-Fi. It is now more quiet-doesn't "breathe" like previous model.
Cons: If bought with the 4GB hard drive, you are unable to use Xbox Live. Disc tray, can be easily broken as it sticks out and is not easily seen.

Microsoft's greatest achievement in gaming, fact!
by JordanMason10 on June 11, 2011
Pros: Stunning design, price, Built in WiFi, Lots of storage space, fast loading times, solid navigation system, online services are a breeze, touch sensitive buttons, Kinect ready, super quite, great range of games and other accessories.
Cons: Dust and finger print magnet, gets really hot quickly, power brick is an annoying feature, no HDMI cable included in the box, pricing of Xbox Live.

Summary: I was never happy with the original line of Xbox 360 consoles. Maybe it was because they were ugly, they were loud, they overheated and they were overpriced for such a basic system (strongly over rules by Sony's PlayStation 3 at the time). However, Microsoft's new line of Slim Xbox 360 models have fixed all of those problems, as well as adding tons of exciting new features, for exactly the same price as previous models. With a sleek, modern design and built in WiFi, this new consoles succeeds in every single department. Well, nearly anyway.
The first thing that strikes you when you get your new Xbox 360 system is it's new design. It's glossy, it's sleek, it's modern, it's small and it's sexy. However, it's one hell of a dust and fingerprint magnet, that I guarantee you. It does still come with the silly power brick to the rear, which is annoying, but adding a fan inside and slimming the brick down in size at the same time is damn impressive. Along with the new look comes built in WiFi (which is superb) and nice touch sensitive buttons, found previously on the "fat" versions of Sony's PlayStation 3. As standard, the new console comes with the disc tray, which is must faster than the previous versions.
Performance wise, the Xbox 360 is top of it's game. Disc loading is quick and easy, games and movies run perfectly and Xbox Live is superb (even if very overpriced). The features are great, but one thing I did notice is the heating of the system. The console comes with a ton of vents, but the system still seems to get very hot very quickly. I've never experienced over heating problems (where previous models would, resulting in the system being shut down or even gaining the red ring of death) but the sheer amount of heat that comes from this console after around an hour of use is down right crazy. Placing your hand on top of the console after around an hours worth of use, and you'll actually see how hot this baby gets. It could lead to problems in the future, but as I say, as of today I've had no problems there.
Overall, the new Xbox 360 250GB Slim console is a superb machine. It's sleek and is much better than previous systems. I highly recommend this console, and at it's price, you should pick one up for sure. Now, where's Gears of War 3 when you need it?1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
