- Bottom Line:
- Though the new Xbox 360 certainly addresses most of the concerns we've had with the versions before it, we don't think it warrants a purchase if you already own an Xbox 360 in working order with an HDMI-out port and a hard drive.

Microsoft Xbox 360 S (250GB) price range: $245.00 - $299.99
- Reviewed by: Jeff Bakalar
- Reviewed on: 06/24/2010
- Released on: 06/23/2010
The good: Sleeker design; 17 percent smaller; much quieter operation; better cooling; touch-sensitive power and disc tray; 250GB hard drive; built-in Wi-Fi; five USB ports; dedicated Kinect port; onboard optical digital audio.
The bad: The hard drive is still proprietary; controller on D-pad remains unchanged; cumbersome power block; renders existing faceplates useless; no cables for HD gaming out of the box.
The bottom line: Though the new Xbox 360 certainly addresses most of the concerns we've had with the versions before it, we don't think it warrants a purchase if you already own an Xbox 360 in working order with an HDMI-out port and a hard drive.

Has lost its value against ps3, at the end is more expensive than a ps3 if you pay 60 dollars for xbox live for a year, 70 dollars for controller batteries for about a year and 100 dollars for a 250GB hard drive if you got the 4GB model with a price of 200 dollars, thats $430 and still does not play blue rays like the 160GB ps3 slim with a price of 250 dollars.
To buy a xbox 360 is like playing the Russian roulette. In my opinion is not a good buy.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great Online Gaming System but the PS3 is Better
by Patryan9 on August 17, 2011
Pros: Built in Wifi
Xbox Live is the Best Online Gaming System

Summary: The Xbox Live Online Gaming is Great. It is better than the Wii and PlayStation Network. It has an HDMI Output and a port for headphones on the controller which are great. The Xbox Disc Drive breaks very easy. If you are in a rush and don't put it in a safe place and it gets knocked down. Your Xbox Disc Drive may not work. If you want to fix it cost $100 through Microsoft. It is not full HD out of the box and you need to buy a HDMI Cable. The PS3 is a better investment overall it is built more solid and has more 3D Games. Unless you really want a Kinect buy a PS3. PlayStation Network has great potential and Sony is working hard to make it better. Both the Xbox 360 250 GB and the Playstation 3 250 GB are the same price with the PS3 having a Blu-ray player. The PS3 can do everything the Xbox can but the online tends to be slower. Go with the PS3

Summary: Brand new XBOX 360 slim >>> DAY 1 First 15 mins <<<Playing red dead redemption... 360 cuts out, >>>RED RING OF DEATH<<< in winter! Try to restart it, FAIL! * Take it back to local store, Tech staff at local store tell me its rrod they replace it for new one.
But after reading and seeing many problems on youtube about massive failures with xbox 360 slim rrod .*It still remains sitting in box after 2 days too scared to turn it on. May take it back, pay abit extra and see if i can purchase ps3. Miss my ps2. i use to fall asleep after playing it for hours in hot conditions and it was still on working next morning. Dont care if its a ps3 or xbox s i just want it to work. I may even get another ps2 which i should never have sold.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: This is by far the best console made by Microsoft. I don't hear a peep from the console the the volume is turned on. The only problem for me was that i need to buy a separate cable to transfer. It is the ultimate console for gaming at the moment. Why waste 50 extra dollars for 250gb PS3 when nowadays, you can even get a blu ray player for less than that. It is a much better 360.
P.S. Don't listen to the jealous PS3 fanboys in the reviews who give this amazing console half a star even though they didn't buy it.1 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

Microsoft Gets It Right
by ADELive on June 23, 2010
Pros: In a nutshell the pros are the 260GB hard drive, built in Wifi,Kinect Ready, much quieter system and it is smaller than the previous versions. The change to the shiny black finish is also a plus as it matches the rest of my audio/visual setup.
Cons: Still have half the size of the original brick for the power supply. It will take all fingerprints. No blue-ray and no HDMI cable added for the $299 price.
Summary: I am pleased to have upgraded to the system. It is truly whisper quiet. Tranferring data from the old system to the new system was a breeze with the transfer ...
Summary: I am pleased to have upgraded to the system. It is truly whisper quiet. Tranferring data from the old system to the new system was a breeze with the transfer cable that may take you back another $20. However, this is the system to get even if it will only be around for another 2-3 years. Still the smaller system also allows you to grow your hard drive space if needed, but 260 gigs is more than enough space. MS needs to add the HDMI cable as part of the package. I am guessing that HDMI cable will become standard in the future and they should look at the possibility of adding Blue-Ray even though the system plays dvds well. If you have the finance or have another system to trade in you should do it now before the trade-ins at EBgames ends in another week or so. Reserve your copy today because you cannot find these systems in any store by just walking in and asking. Overall I am pleased to see that MS has finally begun to listen to hardcore gamers such as myself.

They have righted major issues
by clandestine76 on August 4, 2010
Pros: Nicely designed,NO MORE OVERHEATING, less noise, no RROD....and of course the supremacy of Xbox LIVE will continue!
Cons: HDMI cable, where are you?
Summary: Awesome upgrade, if for no other reason than the RROD and Overheat issues are gone. That's more than enough...can't wait to see how Kinect turns out.

Also, the quality of gamer is much higher on Xbox LIVE than I have encountered on PS Network...haven't played online on the Wii. To me, paying for it keeps the gamer caliber and manners at a level of goodness that is quite satisfactory. I'm more than happy to fork out the cash to keep 360 online play less cluttered and quality oriented.0 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.
