Nintendo DS Lite (Onyx Black) price range: $99.99

The good: The Nintendo DS Lite is slimmer and much sleeker that the original DS. The device employs innovative dual-screen and microphone-enabled gameplay as well as Wi-Fi multiplayer capabilities, allowing for a growing list of original and fun games that you can't play on any other system. In addition, the system is backward-compatible with almost every GBA title. All these additions come without increasing the price or decreasing the features of the original DS.
The bad: Playing online games via Wi-Fi can be a hassle. The darker models are just as susceptible to scratches and smudges as the Sony PSP and the iPod, and its multimedia potential remains exclusive to Japan.
The bottom line: With a slick new design, brighter screens, and a growing library of fun and innovative games, the Nintendo DS Lite is an impressive improvement over the original DS.

Summary: The Ds stays the same as in the menu screen and the types of games it can play but everything else is upgraded. The (onyx) version looks great as well as a sleek frame. Very easy to put in pocket. lighter to hold. NEW POWER BUTTON!!!! On the other hand the Ds light (onyx) is easy to smudge. The Ds light has a more light and is easy to see, Old games seem new. Worth the money GET IT.

Summary: I got this for my b-day last year, and I fell in love with it! I've dropped it so many times on cement, tile, wood floor, I even threw it at the wall (I was very mad) and it didn't break! It doesn't even have a scratch, yes I know it's black so I checked very carefully and not a scratch!

Summary: Like it's predecesor the Nintendo DS Titanium edition, the new DS Lite is not only sleek and stylish but boasts a brighter screen and better design layout. I was a long time owner of the original DS and traded it in for a new Lite in anticipation of Zelda:Phantom Hourglass. Great decision on my part. With a brighter screen I can now see both screens crystal clear without having to play with the screen angle while gaming. I also enjoy the nicer key pads as both the front and side imput keys are quiter and feel like higher end plastic than the original. Even though it smudges easly you won't care because I've found that with a little buffing it's quite a nice piece of hardware to have sitting around. It just looks nice, and I've yet to hear any fuzz feedback on the speaker I experienced often with the older version.
A few fixes would be minimal, but you can't help but wish both screens where touch sensitive. With only the bottom one it restricts unique ingame touch function to the bottom screen. Also, wider screens as seen on the PSP would be helpful, especially given the under performing nature of the DS. But with that said it's not all about graphics with nintendo. And while it still can be a challenge to find titles that truly use the touch DS's unique features without boarding on cheesey, when you do find them there well worth the purchase. Perfect gaming moment has to be Hotel Dusk- voted best unheard of game for 2007. At one point you have to revive someone who has passed out in a room due to trauma. I sat there forever trying to figure it out, rolling...scrolling and buttom mashing my way through all the possibilities....till I realized I had to ACTUALLY put my face to the screen and blow into the mic as if I was actually giving CPR to revive the character. Now THATS innovation! And with suprises like that it'll only keep you wondering why you didn't own one sooner. -
Perfect game system!

PSP has much better graphics, but I didn't really enjoy those games as much - I think nintendo is concentrating on gameplay - not on graphics, and games are simply fun to play. -

Summary: Sent in twice to repair broken hinges for $ 43.00 each time, the third time i decided to buy a new one hoping they upgraded to a better plastic, In this day & age with plastic credit cards that you can't tear or break apart i can't see why Nintendo can't come up with stronger plastic.

Summary: I'm a PC gamer and I never had any other gaming console since SNES. But since my work requires a lot of traveling, I decided to get a portable device. My first choice was a PSP. But after reading a lot of PSP and DS game reviews, it was clear that I'm more of a DS gamer.
DS games are just more fun, innovative, and unique. There are also a lot of games on my favorite genres (Adventure, RPG, Strategy) available on DS more than the PSP. -
Perfect for me
by cant_get_enough_tech on December 14, 2007
Pros: Design, screen is beautiful screen, like the adjustments over the old

Summary: This is perfect for me. I do not need a web browser, or videos, or music. I have other devices for those tasks. My friend has the old one and the screen is literally the same on its lowest setting as the older one is on the highest. I would know, I tested it. I also like the fact of the little piece of plastic that takes place of a GBA game and is about half the size of one and sites flush with the surface. Great attention to detail, too. Buy and enjoy Mario Party with others! I just found out you can use one game chip for 3 others (plus yourself)! FUN!!!
