This Gameboy is by far my favorite. I consider it better than the GBA SP. Why? The comfortable egornomic design is perfect for my hands. The lack of a backlight is a bit of a drag. Do not purchase the wormlight. Buy the Pelican Light Shield (works perfectly). Accessories for this game console are very inexpensive and the games are still great.
*While I'd like to purchase the DS lite-- I don't feel like spending $$$ on the DS games

Summary: what the hell are they thinking? just bought this thing for my 7 year old boy and he tells me he cant see the screen very good...so i told him...hold on ill figure out how to turn the backlight on. they should call it gameboy regress. Is it a marketing ploy? to sell the stupid lame light attachment. Its all about the almighty buck. save your money.

Summary: I pretty much expected when I bought it that the screen would need illumination. The store had lights from 4.99 to 15 bucks. I opted for the $15 Gamester florescent and that was a great move. I can see the screen and play in any ambient light situation. I would recommend it with an optional light!

Summary: Haven't seen this mentioned yet, but the very best backlight for GBA is the Afterburner from tritonlabs.com. It's completely INTERNAL!!! If you don't want to do the surgery to install it yourself, buy one preinstalled from YourHappyPlace.com -- it costs more, but it's worth it! This is what Nintendo should have released in the first place.

Summary: There isn't much to say now, since the Game Boy has been out for over a year. The little thing is great for trips, waits in long lines, or just having fun at home. Yes, everybody says the screen is bad indoors. It is true, but you can normally see it pretty well if you keep lights on in the house. Unless you live in a cave, you can see the screen pretty well indoors with lights on. The sunlight is better though. There are plenty of games to buy, that's no problem. The battery life is excellent, and there are lots of add-ons available, including a Glow Guard light. The thing is only $65.00, so price is no issue for a normal working person, unless you work at McDonalds or KFC. If you don't like it after you buy it, just use it as a paper weight or door stop.
