- Bottom Line:
- For families and lovers of casual games, the still-affordable Wii represents the best console bundle value of the holiday season in terms of dollars spent; however, the Wii's getting long in the tooth, and other game consoles offer more entertainment options and functionality for their higher price tags.

The good: Clean, accessible design; great library of family-friendly games; still-iconic controller design can be used for motion games or more traditional button-based games; Virtual Console library and WiiWare games offer a unique and affordable collection of classic titles; Wii Sports Resort and Wii Sports included with system; Wii Remote Plus controller updated to include MotionPlus built-in; Netflix streaming.
The bad: Online connectivity hampered by closed-garden design; graphics and video playback cap at 480p; other than Netflix, no other video-streaming or entertainment offerings; can't play CDs or DVDs; graphics continue to look ever more outdated compared with rival consoles; the unique qualities that motion gaming offered are now available in accessories from rival consoles.
The bottom line: For families and lovers of casual games, the still-affordable Wii represents the best console bundle value of the holiday season in terms of dollars spent; however, the Wii's getting long in the tooth, and other game consoles offer more entertainment options and functionality for their higher price tags.

Fun games have been therapeutic, now add Homebrew.
by HELDVeganBelts on November 23, 2010
Pros: Too many fun games to choose from! My son and I can spend an entire day playing then if we can't agree what to play next get some silly "wii points" and just download a new game.
Really helping me recover from major cancer surgeries just fine.Cons: It's like the machine is wounded; connected halfway to the internet. Why do I have to HACK into it just to get another channel when it has the capacity to have some cool channels?! Very annoying.
Summary: I'm in bed most of the time cause I've been In a series of cancer related surgeries from head to toe... I'm stuck here. My muscles have ...
Summary: I'm in bed most of the time cause I've been In a series of cancer related surgeries from head to toe... I'm stuck here. My muscles have atrophied and I need to get back on my feet cause I have a business to operate that saves lives. The Wii has helped tremendously and will continue to do so. Please include the Homebrew channel. At least some streaming video channels that broadcast 24/7 that would be cool. Why can't I access my home computer through the wifi? It's as though you've amputated it's limbs or something. $300. Is a pretty hefty sum in this economy so I'll keep playing it looking forward to the day it opens up to meet it's potential.

wii was the future, but now is the past.
by Sandman-ivan on November 22, 2010
Pros: there are some good titles and the motion control is good enough to compete with some others
Cons: but there are only a few games that really require the motion control (most of the games will ask you to shake your controller or point it at the screen but your not really moving like they advertised) and there is a lot of games no one really wants.
Summary: Wii was the first one out and everyone found it to be the future, and they were right but now that Nintendo's competitors can do what the wii dose ...
Summary: Wii was the first one out and everyone found it to be the future, and they were right but now that Nintendo's competitors can do what the wii dose better in HD and has more features all around. Nintendo needs to give the Wii a real face lift or a new system.
I called my Wii the "GameCube Advance" because there were more fun games for the GameCube then there were for the Wii.

- Part number: WII CONSOLE BLACK
- Description: With each passing year, video gaming has become an exclusive experience. The complexities of some of the newest games have alienated those who used to play games with their entire families. Wii changes all that. Nintendo has created the most inviting, inclusive video game system to date. Thanks to this unique controller, anyone of any age or skill level can pick up and play games on Wii. And they will have an incredibly fun time doing so. That's not to say Nintendo has forgotten about the core gamer. Not by a long shot. In fact, Wii gives them the best gaming experience yet. Take a look at some of the games Nintendo and its partners have to offer, and once you try them out, you will be convinced that a revolution in gaming has begun. Soon, the future will be in your hands. When you get a chance to play, you will believe Wii is the next leap in gaming to a new generation. Over time, gaming has become overwhelming to people. Wii returns gaming to simpler times while innovating game development at the same time. The unique Wii Remote gives parents and grandparents a chance to play games with their children. It gives gamers and traditional non-gamers a chance to share the same experiences in this new generation of gaming. For those who grew up on video games, Wii shows that games have not outgrown them. Wii makes you feel less like a player and more like you're in the game. Frenzied sword battles are no longer confined to pushing a button. With Wii's unique freehand controller, Nintendo puts you in the middle of the action. Forget about pushing a button to start a golf backswing. Wii lets you swing the club! Don't push a button to swing a sword, actually swing the sword. Video games have always been a part of you, now you get to be a part of them. Step up to the next level of gaming.
