Sony PlayStation 3 Slim (120GB) price range: $299.00 - $450.00

The good: More affordable $299 price; slimmer, more compact design with quieter operation; all games in high-definition; easy-to-use interface; doubles as a Blu-ray and upscaling DVD player; built-in Wi-Fi; 120GB hard drive; HDMI output with 1080p support; no external power supply; built-in Web browser; free online gaming service.
The bad: Lacks backward support for PS2 games; no infrared port means non-Bluetooth universal remotes aren't compatible; online gaming, media, and commerce options still aren't as fully developed as Xbox Live, though they're getting better.
The bottom line: With a smaller design, more energy-efficient operation, lower price tag, and built-in Blu-ray and multimedia capabilities, the PS3 Slim delivers a compelling package for an affordable price.

Yes its cool and convenient. But it's not a PS3.5!
by ps4insider on August 31, 2009
Pros: This product is slim, and looks very sleek. It runs smoothly and all... The disk times are good and the system seems to operate very well for how small it is
Cons: what bothers me is that ps4insider.net and other sites have already said this is NOT the next generation of console that Sony is making!
Summary: It is not the ps3.5!! There is no such thing and there will not be! We are waiting for the PS4 that will be capable of playing the top ...
Summary: It is not the ps3.5!! There is no such thing and there will not be! We are waiting for the PS4 that will be capable of playing the top of the line games in 2013 or so.. Just like we waited it out for the PS3 to arrive. Sony and Microsoft both want to increase the shelf-life of their systems and this is one of the ways they are doing it..

Best console experience on market at bargain price
by kenburk on August 20, 2009
Pros: True hi-def experience, not all top tier titles are just 1st and 3rd person shooters, no subs. fee for online. For what you get, clobbers Wii and Xbox now. Large HD for jukebox experience. Blu-ray = no disc swaps.
Cons: If you don't have a PS2 and want to play those titles, too bad. That's a $100 option as a PS2 slim. As a media player, it lacks polish.
Summary: If you want to play Halo, then get a 360, then get one again because its going to break down. If you want to play great modern games on a ...

Unstable Firmware Software
by amycusack on September 21, 2009
Pros: Plays all personal burnt dvd's, nice graphics, Easy menus,
Cons: System locks up after a couple of hours of playing time. Firmware updates are too buggy, Doesn't play PS2 games, Over-Heats
Summary: I would NOT recommend this game system. Sony, in my opinion, would rather destroy their reputable name in order to gain a few more dollars rather than creating something more ...

Epic Fail!
by Hitash_Levat on August 27, 2009
Pros: Smaller, its more quiet then its big brother.
Cons: 1.) No backwards compatability.
2.) Even less features then the originally fail ps3
3.) Made by a company that doesn't back its product.
4.) weak online experience.Summary: I have not seen anything good in PS3 other then a blue ray player... All the good games that have hit PS3 are multi platform. Has been stated several times ...
Summary: I have not seen anything good in PS3 other then a blue ray player... All the good games that have hit PS3 are multi platform. Has been stated several times before but I will say it again. the "free online gaming" is free because it sucks. You get what you pay for. Everyone praises this "GAMING CONSOLE" on how pretty it plays "MOVIES" get the picture yet? Very little is even mentioned about the PS3's gaming performance except lack luster. The console had potential. Failed when Sony decided to go cheap on it.

Nice price, but same old function and cheap design
by jerryallright on August 20, 2009
Pros: Great price, slim, affordable!
Cons: Same old function, no backwards playability, cheap design (Not look as good the older generation console), boring feature
Summary: I have the 40GB version of the ps3 console. For me there is no reason for me to get this again. Is a bargain for new owner though. If sony ...
Summary: I have the 40GB version of the ps3 console. For me there is no reason for me to get this again. Is a bargain for new owner though. If sony really want to get more people to get this console they should lowered the game price and should also provide free full game online download to the ps3 owner.

Sony killed itself (performed Harakiri)
by allbond on November 9, 2009
Pros: A device good for nothing
Cons: Ofcourse it is good for nothing
Summary: Without Linux capability, it is hardly useful.
Sony get down on your knees and beg mercy by reinstating Linux support.

Summary: Lost me at Lacks backward support for PS2 game. I have a broken PS2 sitting here and was either going to pay to have it fix or get a PS3. I'm dying to play some of my older games. That was the deal breaker.
