The good: More affordable $299 price; slimmer, more compact design with quieter operation; all games in high-definition; easy-to-use interface; doubles as a Blu-ray and upscaling DVD player; built-in Wi-Fi; spacious hard drive; HDMI output with 1080p support; no external power supply; built-in Web browser; free online gaming service.
The bad: Lacks backward support for PS2 games; no infrared port means non-Bluetooth universal remotes aren't compatible; online gaming, media, and commerce options still aren't as fully developed as Xbox Live, though they're getting better.
The bottom line: With a smaller design, more energy-efficient operation, lower price tag, and built-in Blu-ray and multimedia capabilities, the PS3 Slim delivers a compelling package for an affordable price.

Summary: Overall, I think this is the best overall game unit. We also have a Wii, but it fills a niche for kids action oriented games. My family is growing up and yearned for more action and better graphics, so we found PS3 to be the best value. What a huge upgrade we got. And the Blu-Ray player made it a no-brainer decision as we got a major upgrade in this department, in addition to the great game performance.
So far, no maintenance issues after 6 months and overall trends seem to be more positive vs. the competition. I'm happy!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Pros: Variety of games to choose from. Navigating the menu is easy.
Cons: I would have to say the add-on the games you buy. Oh and the fact that sometime if sony is working on the networking you can't go online.

Pros: it has really good exclusive titles.
Cons: none, except that the network went down for a while, but that really didn't affect me because my info was outdated and I didn't have my credit card in it.

Pros: This is the dream machine for me, and I am 44 years old. First I buy PS3 just to play Blu-ray, but now I get netflix, internet, and music; with HD full 1080P and HD audio. Incredible small but powerfull machine.
Cons: I just don't see anything wrong with this machine, so far so good.

Summary: I really want to like this technology but I just recently shut it down. If all you want is to play games, it should be fine. I use it for Netflix and online gaming. The problem with the PS3 is Sony. They have upgrades every few months and it takes literally 20 to 30 minutes. They force you to do it. So you try to go into Netflix and it tells you that you need to upgrade to OS. Why can't I do it after I'm finished or schedule it to run at an off hour? The last upgrade crippled the system. That was it. I unplugged it and bought a Roku. End of story.

Pros: Sure, good quality, blu-ray player good thermal management (it's on 18 hours a day) and a really tremendous sound output, far superior to anything else out there. I have the best game/entertainment room around thanks to the PS3..
Cons: None, really. The controller pad is a little small for my hands, same with the PS2. The Xbox does have a nicer controller pad and a much better network.
Summary: For gaming, streaming and blu-ray watching, the PS3 rules. It has been far more reliable than my Xbox machines have and it's on a lot. Sound quality is better ...

Both good machines, with performance and reliability going to the PS3. Truthfully I wish someone would publish a freeware version of the Sony GDK so we could play around with this really advanced cell processor architecture. -

PS3 has better exclusive games, and comes with a blu ray player built in. Additionally, while its online ecosystem is not nearly as polished as xbox's, it is actually very very good if you're willing to put in the effort to utilize it to its full potential.
