Sony PlayStation Vita (Wi-Fi) price range: $249.99 - $299.90

The good: The PlayStation Vita delivers amazing visuals on its 5-inch OLED touch screen that look almost as good as PS3 graphics. The system's launch lineup is very impressive and allows for downloading of some games (including all first-party titles) over the PlayStation Network. The Vita's operating system is smartly designed, easy to use, and ultraresponsive. The unit feels great to hold and has excellent standby battery life.
The bad: The Vita uses proprietary media and connections across the board, and even requires the purchase of a separate memory card to play most games and use most apps, which results in a hidden cost. Battery life could be better, and there's no way it can be replaced by the user. There's also no video out. Also, some antipiracy implementations are a bit cumbersome to deal with (for example, mounting the Vita to a PC/Mac for file transfer). It's also unclear how much storage the Vita has onboard, and it'll cost you more money for larger Vita Memory Cards.
The bottom line: Overall, the PlayStation Vita is the most advanced portable gaming system ever made. While the price is deceiving because of a hidden cost, gamers are getting an impressively complete package right out of the gate. A healthy launch lineup is sure to provide something for every kind of gamer, and a large selection of digital downloads is available right now.

Great product. If you enjoy gaming, you'll love it!
by Scooter_6996 on June 27, 2012
Pros: Touchscreen/Rear Touchpad
Dual Analog Sticks
Excellent Games
Bright Screen, easy to see, a little bad in sunlight.
Trophies, and also has cross-platform play.Cons: You need to buy a memory card for it, which they are all very expensive. I recommend an 8 or a 16 GB card.
Doesn't fit in pocket easily, not as portable as the PSP was unless you buy a case.Summary: I have only had this system since April, but I have really enjoyed having one. If you enjoy gaming or are new to gaming and want a fresh, new experience, ...
Summary: I have only had this system since April, but I have really enjoyed having one. If you enjoy gaming or are new to gaming and want a fresh, new experience, I highly recommend this for you. It may be expensive, but you know what they say: You get what you pay for, and with this system it's true.

Much improvement from its predecessor the PSP.
by BassHead101 on June 11, 2012
Pros: Large 5" screen.
Very responsive touchscreen.
Two analog sticks make gaming more natural.
Front and rear facing cameras are of sufficient quality and perfect when using Skype.
Apps like Facebook are readily available.
Great game selection.Cons: Proprietary accessories cost a lot (i.e. memory cards)
Battery life is a bit short (I get roughly 5-6 hours)
No Windows Explorer access, only available through PS Vita Content Manager.Summary: I have owned the PS Vita for a week now and I love it! I owned a PSP 2000 and this a definite improvement. This powerful gaming device has better ...
Summary: I have owned the PS Vita for a week now and I love it! I owned a PSP 2000 and this a definite improvement. This powerful gaming device has better graphics than the PSP. This system definitely impressed me and I look forward to purchasing more titles such as Drake's Uncharted Golden Abyss and Wipeout 2048.

Portable gaming will never be the same.
by iPandaS on April 10, 2012
Pros: Lightweight.
The graphics, playing Uncharted: Golden Abyss felt like an early PlayStation 3 title.
Touch screen is nice.
Screen is the nicest I've seen on any portable device.
Button layout is great, and dual joysticks FINALLY!
Feels great and looks greaCons: Not many games out yet, I recommend Marvel vs. Capcom and Uncharted: Golden Abyss, other than that I'd hold out, there's some great games and PlayStation exclusives on the way.

Summary: Leaving the 3DS in the dirt, the PS Vita will defiantly leave a mark on the portable gaming scene for a long time to come. Though the price is high, and price drops will most likely come soon, the Vita wash a great pickup, and for all it can do, along with developers making apps and games for it as we speak, it's worth it. Sony did not disappoint on this one.

Impressed (Somewhat)

Pros: - Big Screen
- New User Interface
- PS3 Quality graphics (some games)
- Awesome Exclusives (Uncharted: Golden Abyss/Wipeout 2048)Cons: - not all PSP titles are compatible right now (275 currently)
- Lack of Flash Support in browser
- Not many apps available (like Youtube)Summary: the PlayStation Vita is a very good handheld console, and I infinitely prefer it over the 3DS... but It lacks certain features that would allow it to truly stand out ...
Summary: the PlayStation Vita is a very good handheld console, and I infinitely prefer it over the 3DS... but It lacks certain features that would allow it to truly stand out amongst the competition. The 3DS and smartphones have youtube apps or at least support youtube in the browser... The Vita does not. Sony has time to fix these issues, but until then, there's not a lot of huge praise to give to the successor to the PSP

Pros: The touchscreen capabilities look very nice
the fact that we will have a longer battery life seems genarraly exciting
the possibilities of this console colliding with new games is excitingCons: The fact that we will most like have to pay more to download old games is a little dissapointing
The price will definitly play a big factor in overall consumer salesSummary: The idea of our favorite gamesystem getting a huge upgrade is always exciting but as history shows us some dont quite make the cut such as the 3ds. The psvita ...
Summary: The idea of our favorite gamesystem getting a huge upgrade is always exciting but as history shows us some dont quite make the cut such as the 3ds. The psvita shows great potential and many great games may come out for it. the only thing that worries me is will it do well on the market the cons are a little more worrisome for me the holding of it and everything but who knows future gsames and upgrades may make this a great system

by Lunias on March 6, 2012
Pros: Fantastic game lineup

Summary: The PS Vita is a great piece of hardware! My biggest problems with the system are the sound and grip quality. Luckily, headphones fix the first and there's a great case made by Nerf that easily improves the grip (most comfortable system I've ever held, really)! Besides that, the slots are a bit difficult to open and the console is pretty expensive. If you don't mind shelling out some cash, then what are you waiting for?! BUY IT! BUY IT NAOW!!!
PS: I heartily suggest purchasing BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend. There's a huge amount of content in this game, and it's really fun! -
Good for fun Excelent for you!

Most powerful portable device ever.
by nitehawk766 on February 29, 2012
Pros: amazing screen, awesome games, real stories, buttons, touch screen/pad, analog sticks, everything you want in your hand for $300 or less. (no pesky 2 year contract like with a cell phone either!)
Cross platform play! Remote play! plays nice with PS3!Cons: buying software sucks. When adopting early you have to wait for the used game market to mature. Paying triple the price for proprietary memory cards is lame. Sony should have stuck with Memory pro duo or used microSD
Summary: Amazing device, but it has some growing to do. Sony and third parties need to support it with battery extending peripherals, chargers, cases, etc. Games look great and the possibilities ...
