The good: The Sony PSP is a slick portable gaming system highlighted by an impressive wide-screen display and PS2-like graphics. It also boasts built-in Wi-Fi, a Web browser, and the ability to play music and videos, as well as to store images.
The bad: The Sony PSP's multimedia functionality is underwhelming, especially for video, requiring expensive memory cards. The load times on the UMD games can be excessive.
The bottom line: The Sony PSP elevates portable gaming to the next level, but its multimedia functionality falls short of its full potential.

Another overrated sony machine
by gamefanhalo on March 16, 2005
Pros: looks good
Cons: everything, games, battery life, umd format, 20.00 for umd movies

Summary: here we go again, another sony launch. Which means a planned shortage of the system, defective units, and horrible games. While the graphics do look good, the battery will last you about 2 and a half hours of usage. My friend imported one from japan and it broke a week after he got it, he was stuck with it, sony would not help him since it was an import. This sounds a lot like playstation 2 launch, we all know how that went. STAY AWAY

Buyer Beware

Pros: None Whatsoever
Cons: Battery Performance (lack of), poor game titles, only 1 screen, no control, horrible display

The operating system draws ...Summary: This unit, designed by Sony, the maker of the MiniDisc has created a device that is actually WORSE than the MiniDisc, the Sony Playstation Portable (PSP).
The operating system draws power faster than you can say blackjack.
Forget about playing all day like you can on competing portable game systems because the battery life will have you constantly recharging several times per day.
The games are the same boring nonsense. No real adventure games like you will find with Nintendo. How can you have fun when the games are boring?
The screen display is a disgrace. You can't tell what you are supposed to do because once you have been spoiled by the REMARKABLE Nintendo DS, everything else is only half the fun.
No touch screen. Only 1 screen. No built-in Mic, no character interraction, no cartridge. You have to load the games from a disc!
Disc Drives draw more power than cartridge specific games and THAT will draw more power from the pathetic battery performance.
There is no way in the world that the lemmings who actually buy this unit will not return in droves to exchange for the REMARKABLE Nintendo DS.
As a consumer, I cannot recommend this product to anyone for any reason whatsoever.
