The good: The 2010 Nissan Cube's unique looks disguise a practical design. The continuously variable transmission delivers a smooth drive and excellent fuel economy. Voice command for the phone system lets you dial by name.
The bad: Navigation isn't available and the engine delivers meager power.
The bottom line: If you can love the looks, the 2010 Nissan Cube makes for a decent little tech hauler, as long as you get the Krom edition or option up to the SL trim.

Soft paint job

Summary: I recently purchased a Nissan Cube from a dealer in Toms River, New Jersey. My Cube is parked in my garage each night. I have had the Cube five months now. After a few weeks I noticed scratches by the front left wheel, then some scratches on the hood, and in the back, and so on. Then I got stuck in the recent snow storm here in the northeast (October 2011). My car was covered with several inches of snow and I only had a plastic shovel to clear my car off with. Needless to say my car now has scratches from getting the snow off. There are also several more scratches I cannot attribute to the shovel that I assume were from the highway ride home thru the storm. Unfortunately, the warranty states "If your Nissan is damaged due to an accident or similar cause which destroys the paint and protective coating, have your vehicle repaired as soon as possible. The cost of such repairs is considered the responsibility of the owner." So the dealer is charging me several hundred dollars to buff out the scratches. So I am making you, the reader, aware that the Nissan Cube comes with a soft paint job that scratches easily. Buyer beware.

Fun little car, I'm really enjoying it.
by jimcobber on June 16, 2010
Pros: Amazing amount of interior interior space, this really sold me as I'm a big guy. It has sporty handling, fun to drive. The CVT transmission is very cool so far. Sound system is very good. Nice ride.
Cons: Could use some more power, esp. off the line. But that's the price for 30mpg. Seats are comfy but could use more lateral support. Only one arm rest on the driver seat, none on the passenger. Need more storage boxes. Engine can be noisy.

Summary: It's nice to have a car that is easy to get into and out of, like a SUV, and also get 30mpg, unlike an SUV. So far it's comfortable for all 4 in our family, including 2 large boys. I like the 'fridge door on the back, quick and easy to put stuff in and out. I got the auto HVAC, but prob. would have been fine with the manual system. You have to learn how to drive the CVT, basically you shift with the throttle. The engine will wind up to a fixed speed and the car will accelerate, very different from a shift transmission. When the engine is droning too much, you back off on the throttle a bit. Steering is tight and precise, handles well on the highway. The ride is very nice considering the tiny wheels. I'm getting a real 29mpg, I have a lead foot, so I'm sure it can do much better. The controls are laid out very nicely except for the fuel hatch release. Buried under the dash for some reason., the bluetooth system works great with my Blackberry, voice recognition works well.

Does the Job Very Well.
by danunson on June 16, 2010
Pros: SL package with subwoofer absolutely rocks, excellent audio that is well worth it.
Good gas mileage.
Great headroom!
More space inside than you might think.Cons: Responds slowly/Tiny Engine.

Summary: We have a 2009 Cube and our family loves it. I'm 6' 6" tall and finding anything other than a minivan or truck to fit with any sort of headroom for me is a major struggle, ditto on shoulder room. Even luxury cars leave me scraping my head and with little room in the shoulder area. Not so for this vehicle, I could wear a cowboy hat and still not scrape my head and I can't believe the shoulder room it has. We looked at the Soul and xB and neither could compare in this area.
I'm not concerned about power or agility, but I love music and this thing has a GREAT factory audio system as long as you get the version with the Rockford Fosgate speaker package. It really rocks and I love it. If you want speed and agility this is not an appropriate vehicle, it accelerates OK at best but again, I don't really care about that.
The back seats have a surprising amount of leg room and more head room than on anything else (a box may be bad for aerodynamics but great for comfort). When you fold the back seats down you even have decent hauling space, nothing great but good enough for most people.
Overall it has been a great vehicle for the price and we love driving it around. -
Great car that stands out from the rest for under $20K
by davesecx on April 21, 2010
Pros: Plenty of headroom, Good tech, stylish design that's unique, great fuel economy, very comfy ride, shag dash topper is one of a kind
Cons: Lacks any option for Navigation, needs a smaller 2nd glove box for quick access to things like insurance card and registration info, needs a center storage console, acceleration is a bit slow, anything besides the SL or Krom is a bit underwhelming
Summary: Great value for around $20,000. Its uniqueness makes this car stand out from others and you get a lot of good tech for a low price. A truly underrated ...

Great little care that drives welll.
by shanemyoung on April 16, 2010
Pros: Great gas mileage. Ecellent use of space. Can fit 5 comfortablely. Unless you are an NBA player there will be plenty of head room. Lots of tech.
Cons: Not all the tech was thought out in the 2009. For example there is a ipod connection but why isn't there a designed place to store it. Needs to have a center console.
Summary: I love my cube. The engine is great for any responsible driving. I have never been short of power even at 75. Yes it isn't a rocket, but it ...
Summary: I love my cube. The engine is great for any responsible driving. I have never been short of power even at 75. Yes it isn't a rocket, but it wasn't designed to be. Not everyone is going to buy this car, but everyone that gets to check it out is impressed with what it has and how it is designed.
I liked the design of the original xB and thought the cube was a knock off, but then found that it was actually third gerneration. The Kia Soul looks less like an xB or a cube and more like a Honda CRV.
