2010 Toyota Prius price range: $27,270.00
- Reviewed by: Wayne Cunningham
- Reviewed on: 07/07/2009
The good: Getting around 50 mpg on average, the 2010 Toyota Prius is a stellar car for fuel economy, and you can choose accelerator sensitivity. Traffic reports are integrated with the navigation system.
The bad: The Prius isn't designed for handling. There isn't full iPod or USB drive integration for the stereo. The DVD-based navigation system reacts slowly.
The bottom line: The 2010 Toyota Prius is a better car than its predecessor, although there are some areas, especially in the cabin, where we would have liked to see more improvement.

It "Does" have ipod support
by Lochar on October 28, 2009
Pros: Quieter ride than my 2007, also has more options albeit at an increased cost.
Cons: DVD based Nav system, I dont like it HAS to be always in the car, plus that means its never updated unless get new DVD, Sluggish acceleration for a bigger engine.
Summary: I just got mine and so way too early to give full review, but I read CNETS review and saw they listed no IPOD support yet mine was a model ...
Summary: I just got mine and so way too early to give full review, but I read CNETS review and saw they listed no IPOD support yet mine was a model III and came with a usb port which when plugged into my ipod not only charged it but gave music support. It lists all the songs, podcasts and ebooks on it. It doesnt show album covers tho, but minor thing to me. As I drive it thru the coming weeks will alter my review to fit it better.

Reluctant Prius driver bold over by 2010 model
by spel7858 on September 14, 2009
Pros: Acceptable acceleration and power
Quality feel compared with outgoing model e.g. Reassuring thud when you close the doors
Plenty of non standard extras
Exterior design changes and 17" wheels give the car a stronger appearanceCons: Don't offer a metallic black
Loath the air-brush blue in the Toyota logo
Go for leather as the fabric would be hopeless if you have kidsSummary: I'm a reluctant Prius driver only swayed by the London congestion charge. Over the last two years I've never liked the ride, speed or design of the car (...
Summary: I'm a reluctant Prius driver only swayed by the London congestion charge. Over the last two years I've never liked the ride, speed or design of the car (although it hurts to say it I love the novelty of sitting in traffic with the engine off) but when passing a Toyota garage last week I went in for a test drive. Although I would not hesitate to sell my Prius if they stopped the congestion charge, the new model is less of a sacrifice with a quality feel, silent drive with enough acceleration in the power mode to give you a moderate buzz of excitement (when compared with the outgoing model). Great technology and the car now includes features which are often extras when buy recognised quality cars. I placed an order yesterday and just between us, I'm quite excited about taking delivery... in December! It appears I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Awesome Eco-friendly car triumphs the P.O.S Honda
by jiffpre on July 29, 2009
Pros: Drives very smooth and quiet, the vehicles new looks are sharp. I think the old Prius was a great looking car, but stood out. The new 2010 model looks more sedan and has more room. The HP has been pushed which helps people who live in the mountains.
Cons: The price is a hard thing to over come and there aren't a lot of color options compared to 2009, but that will change most likely in the 2011 model.
Summary: No offense to Honda, but its a pathetic little vehicle, I mean it can't take hills worth a darn and the tacky grill is gonna loose its fake sheen ...

This is a car for grandmas. Totally disappointed
by fairy9 on December 15, 2009
Pros: The color- pearl white.
Cons: I get 36 mpg and that is it!! I have followed all the rules for driving and found the car totally boring. No help from Magic Toyota.Said they can't do anything until the "engine" light goes on. What kind of help is that??
Summary: I AM SORRY I BOUGHT THIS CAR. IF I KNEW I HAD TO GO SO SLOW TO EVEN GET 36MPG . I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THE CAR.

TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED. MAGIC TOYOTA WAS NO HELP AT ALL EXCEPT TO HELP ME RESET THE BLUETOOTH.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CAR TO ANYONE. ONCE YOU HAVE BOUGHT THE CAR FRON THEM DO NOT EXPECT ANY HELP..
I have not been a pest to these people I just wanted explainations. So to say they did not back up their product.1 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Reverse Gear Beeping may only be heard inside the cabin
by omniprof on July 7, 2009
Pros: Better mileage than the CRV it replaced.
Cons: Unbelievably poor traction in slipper conditions.
Summary: I drive a 2008 Prius and the beeping noise when the car is put into reverse is only heard inside the cabin. Does the 2010 change this?

Oh, and if it snows considerably where you live or where you travel think twice about the Prius. When my lease is up I'll switch to whoever makes a 4-wheel drive hybrid such as the Escape hybrid.1 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Decent car, terrible start out acceleration
by anichick25 on March 15, 2010
Pros: I really like the futristic look inside this car. And for the gas mileage, the interior space it pretty great. The previous models of the car didn't work for me b/c I'm about 6' tall but b/c of the telescopic wheel, I was able to drive this model.
Cons: Car still feels a little small. I felt like I had to bend down to see out the back of the car b/c I'm a little taller than most women. I had a pain in my neck after the test drive for a couple of days. Also the initial acceleration was bad.
Summary: I probably would have bought this car except I live in Florida and I think it's important to be able to pull out from a yield in the road. ...
Summary: I probably would have bought this car except I live in Florida and I think it's important to be able to pull out from a yield in the road. I felt very uncomfortable on the test drive trying to pull out into traffic. Once you got going, the car felt just like any other car except maybe that it was a little too light. It was raining and I felt like if I went too fast I might lose control of the car. Overall I think this is a good car. I would sacrafice a little bit of gas mileage for being able to pull out. I wouldn't want to buy this car and put myself at risk for rear end accidents. Everyone knows that you have to be able to pull out in Florida!!

Prius 2010 misses the mark
by Prius4 on July 1, 2009
Pros: Prius III - Driver seat has height adjustment available. Great sound system. Hidden trunk space is larger now fits two laptops
Cons: My version III comes without the backup camera. Backing at night is a nightmare. Toyota downgraded the smart key. You can no longer open the trunk or the passenger car door. I use this feature on my 2005 & 2007 prius 20 times a week.
Summary: Buy a 2009. Don't waste your time on the new version. This is my fourth Prius maybe my last.

Vast improvement over prior model
by djasonw on July 8, 2009
Pros: Smooth ride, roomy interior, outstanding mileage, excellent reliability if prior model gives any indication
Cons: Would have really liked it if they developed the lithium battery technology but I guess we'll have to wait a few more years.
Summary: A hybrid with a proven track record gets a larger engine and better mileage! What's not to like about that??? Great mileage, safety, reliability and tech all in an ...

A step back
by hurtado77 on August 31, 2009
Pros: Some new technology.
Cons: Much more less design and looks much more like other cars.
Summary: A step back in Prius and Hybrid design in Toyota... A little more technology that you have to pay appart.
