The good: The 2011 Chevrolet Corvette can be optioned with a carbon fiber roof and ceramic brakes for track performance. Magnetic suspension technology helps keep the tires grounded, and a head up display keeps useful information front and center.
The bad: The navigation system performs slowly and uses low-resolution maps, and a Bluetooth phone system offers few frills. Fuel economy is poor, and the car is difficult to handle on bumpy roads.
The bottom line: Cabin tech is an afterthought in the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, as this car was made for the track, not daily driving or grocery runs.

Pros: Agree whole heartedly with Mea17. I understand cnet is looking at "cabin tech." But when it comes to car technology including the lightweight chassis, magnetic suspension and pushrod technology this combination is awesome.
Cons: Interior and seats need upgrading.

Summary: If you're a car aficionado you'll love this ride. I had the pleasure of driving the Z06 and was grinning ear to ear. Yes, the interior including the poor lateral support of the seats is a problem that will be addressed with the next corvette iteration. However, this is a true supercar.

Stop rating cars please CNET.

Pros: LS7 offers GREAT GAS MILEAGE for the horsepower. Torque whenever you need it. Great chassis. Great bang for buck. ZR-1 minus the LS9 motor and price. All around amazing performer.
Cons: The same old bad unsupportive seats, zombie like feel when reaching the limits, aging, though gracefully, um....it's not a ZR-1?

Summary: One of the best all around performers. Excels at everything. From power to and handling and breaking, the Z06 has it in spades. True it takes a skilled hand to master the car but in those hands it's a masterpiece. It doesn't have electro nannies governing everything in the car like most cars nowadays and offers a proper manual, The seats still suck though unless you carry some girth on the sides and the ride is of course super car choppy but not as bad as some. If you're careful you can get 30mpg out of this 505hp engine. please CNET stick to rating tech products and not cars because it's obvious that you don't know what a true car lover, especially in a car like this, wants.

Absolute bargain for the price!
by CrystalRedZ07 on October 28, 2010
Pros: Incredible power, including at low rpm, right where you need it for daily driving. 6th gear cruising at 60 mph turning only 1300 rpm gives excellent mileage. Generally comfortable driving position and has plenty of room for luggage, golf clubs, etc.
Cons: Wide tires (part of the Ultimate Performance Pkg.) tend to kick up pebbles and can pit the paint. Clear mask or some protective product is recommended. Navigation option could be much better for the price.
Summary: Vehicle is an absolute joy to drive, whether going to the grocery store or to the track. While not as technologically "sophisticated" as some of its competitors (at much higher ...
Summary: Vehicle is an absolute joy to drive, whether going to the grocery store or to the track. While not as technologically "sophisticated" as some of its competitors (at much higher prices) it does a great job storming around the track with its wonderful power or cruising down the freeway averaging close to 30 mpg. The interior is often criticized, and while it is not as nice as those in much more expensive competitors, it offers reasonably comfortable seats that only show their shortcomings at the track in extreme cornering situations. I agree that the navigation should be much better for its $1750 price. Overall, this vehicle is a performance bargain that delivers satisfaction on many levels.

Exotic supercar capability for $75K
by MEA17 on October 28, 2010
Pros: 0-60 in 3.7 sec, 11.7 sec 1/4 mile at 123mph, 198mph top speed, 1.0g, phenomenal brakes
Race car can be a daily driver too.
At under 3200 lb with titanium and magnesium components with a 7 liter 7,000rpm monster motor, this thing is a thrill ride.
Cons: Interior and seats
Lingering image from the '70's Vette's

Summary: I was shocked at the review of this incredible car. It seems Mr. Cunningham's view of technology is limited to electronic wizardry. This Vette has a 7 liter small block with siamesed cylinder walls, an aluminum frame, titanium connecting rods and exhaust, magnesium engine cradle and roof panel, several carbon fiber parts, etc. The model he tested even had the ceramic brakes. This light, compact pushrod engine runs to 7,000 rpm and makes 505hp without resorting to a super or turbocharger.
If you want to run with Ferarris and Lamborghinis or flat out embarrass Aston Martins at a fraction of the cost, this is the car.
The electronic ride is pretty impressive for street or track. As to the GPS and Bluetooth being less than state of the art, so what. The whole point of this car is that you should be paying attention to the road and enjoying the engine and chassis. This is a thrill ride for the ages.

The Z06 is Awesome!!!
by crspurch on April 19, 2012
Pros: Fast, did I say Fast! These cars are rated at 505HP but are dynoing at 535 to 545HP in stock trim. 3LZ interior, Blue-tooth, OnStar, Bose Stereo, CFZ package, Z07 Ultimate Performance Package, Michelin run-flats, mag ride control, WOW factor.
Cons: Too fast, Inferno Orange is an awesome color, but way too loud. One could get into a lot of trouble with this thing if not careful.
Summary: Absolutely stunning visual effect. I bought an Inferno Orange Z06/Z07, 3LZ, CFZ in March, my fourth vette, and none of the others even comes close! This car is a ...
Summary: Absolutely stunning visual effect. I bought an Inferno Orange Z06/Z07, 3LZ, CFZ in March, my fourth vette, and none of the others even comes close! This car is a beast, it is truly a bonafide race car that is street legal. Anyone that is not a vette afficianado will not have the true appreciation of what this car is. It is a 427, a legendary number in 'vettedom, with gobs of horsepower, options, and it looks cool as anything! Get the picture...drive this car and you won't want to drive anything else.
Rough ride. It's black or white nothing in between
by jibendow on November 19, 2010
Pros: Sport car that is street legal
Cons: Sport car that is street legal. The ride is as such that won't let you drive the car for over an hour straight.
Summary: Bottom line the car is fast and stable but not a driving car for an everyday leisure.

Sensational automobile & value

Pros: It is an exquisite package for the track
Cons: Could not find a complaint beyond those mentioned above
I fully agree with the reviewer. I own a base Corvette
by ralteredstates on October 28, 2010
Pros: Absurd amount of engine power only useful on the track
Cons: Terrible ride. Antique GPS especially for Chevy's premium vehicle. Ride is fine for track use

Summary: I decided this year to trade in my 1999 Boxster (with a fairly decent ride) for a Vette. My first experience was test driving a Z06 and I made an immediate decision to stay with my Boxster because of the rock hard ride of the Vette. I would not want to use the car for my daily driver. After a week or 2, I decided to test the base Vette and see if the ride was anything like the Z06. To my pleasant surprise, the ride was very civilized and nothing like the brick-like ride of the Z06. The engine in the base is "only" 430 HP and instead of being absurdly powerful like the Z06, it was only ridiculously powerful. Far more power than I will ever need but every once in a while, it's fun to punch it and feel the G forces. I am very happy with my choice of the base model and saved 25-50 thousand over the Z06. It is unfortunate that the reviewer didn't comment on the differences between the Z06 and the base model.
