Flickering problems after owning for a while
Pros: Good price. Nice picture. Nice stats.
Cons: After using for a while at 280x1024x32bits @85Hz the right side of the screen (especially the right top) started to flicker. I dealt with that for the last few months but recently I dropped the refresh down to 60 (70, 72, and 75 all flickered) and the fli

Summary: I've owned this monitor for almost 2 years now and it's the best monitor i've ever owned. Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 looked amazing on this monitor, especially with super bright mode on its highest setting. Blurry text is only a problem when super bright mode is on and can be fixed with a press of a button. I did not experience any unexpected problems with this monitor like others might have been having. Infact, after everything this monitor has been through (dragging it to various lans and banging it up a little), it's still in great shape and probably won't die on me for a while.

BAD for text
Pros: Colors are excellent, quality of product is excellent too, and I was able to make 2 RMA free of charge, and even, return the two rma monitors and keep my original one (explanation after)
Cons: This monitor isn't good for text at 1280x1024 75 or 85hz. NEC tech support explained me that Aperture grill is bad for text and cad, but good for colors and game. Shadow mask is good for text. Because the technology, Dot pitch is higher with aperture gril

Summary: Just received this monitor today from Dell. Got a killer deal on the price, $213 shipped. And out of the box it's nearly perfect. A little rotation and pincushion adjustments and fitting the display to the full screen size and that's it. Absolutely stellar performance. Sharp text and great colors. My previous monitor was an NEC MultiSync FE700 and my monitor after this one will be another NEC. Ten out of ten.

I am using this monitor to look at spreadsheets, Word documents, and significant amounts of text and I find that with contrast toned down below 20% (where I find it comfortable), the text is rich and clear. I think the full review is too harsh on this monitor's performance.

For text editing, use the No SB mode. NO TEXT PROBLEM AT ALL. Switch to SB1 or SB2 for photo or graphics. Stunning difference.
