Simply great
by paulcgraves on January 13, 2010
Pros: Great screen - can really handle two full pages at the same time. Very fast. Handbrake runs very smoothly in 64 bit mode, riping up to 145 fps.
Cons: Blue-ray would have been nice, but I don't miss it yet. I would like to have a larger wireless keyboard option.
Summary: Best computer I have every owned or worked on. I even like the mouse after a few days of using it. Very fast. Very slick. Very nice.

All-in-one that kicks A$$
by OttoZro on May 13, 2010
Pros: 27in LED screen, 2560x1440 Res, DDR3. OS X and iLife. Closed optimized hardware/software system. Retains Resell value. Boot Camp support for Windows 7 (which is also a good OS). BTW World of Warcraft plays better on a Mac
Cons: Video Card Cannot be Upgraded ever. No blu-ray support, no HDMI output, No E-Sata support.
Summary: Worth ever penny, Beautiful screen and maximized system. Everything you will need is included, but externally missing some connections that are nice to have, but are not Necessary. Blu-Ray...Would ...
Summary: Worth ever penny, Beautiful screen and maximized system. Everything you will need is included, but externally missing some connections that are nice to have, but are not Necessary. Blu-Ray...Would of been nice but again not Necessary. If your a Digiatal consumer then you will be totally happy with owning an iMac... iTunes store for Videos/Music/TV shows/books and now video Games thru Steam :D
Excellent Computer, haven't had any problems with it. I haven't had any reason to upgrade the memory of this computer...it runs so fast with just 4GB of Memory amazing.

Pros: Very fast good for multitasking. resolution is beyond fantastic.
Cons: It gets really hot, like burning your hand hot. fans are extremely weak and mine flickers a lot.
Summary: I have the 27" quad core i7 8g RAM 4x2 2TB memory, and I got this from the apple store on 4/26/10.

In a word - AWESOME!
by FunkyGuitarGirl on April 17, 2010
Pros: The monitor is huge and image is crisp. Processor is super fast. Mac OS X is intuitive and responsive. I use mostly for paper writing and research - having the extra screen real estate has been incredibly helpful.
Cons: What's not to like?!

Summary: I am a Mac fan and have been for years but this is the first time I have purchased a top of the line machine. It was well worth the investment as I was able to score a refurbished machine at a substantial discount through the Apple Online Store.
Although I had initially intended to purchase a lower-level model, a visit to Best Buy to test drive the machine's quickly changed my mind. First of all, it is impossible to walk past this machine in a store and not want to touch it.. and once that happens, all thoughts of its little sister are washed from your head. In fact, I only used the 21.5" machine because that is the unit that had the wireless input devices. Once I touched the 27-inch, I was done.. and that was the base unit. Getting the Quad Core i5 up and running at home was incredible!
Speaking of those - the new touch mouse is a dream. feels great in the hand.. looks great. One complaint is that it is kinda "scratchy" on most standard surfaces. Looking for a solution to that minor issue. Doesn't seem like a traditional mouse pad will resolve it but it could be just that simple.
This machine makes my jaw drop at how responsive it is, how crisp the images are, even the built-in sound on this iMac is great (although I use external speakers w/ a sub woofer).
The 27-inch iMac Quad Core i5 is well worth the investment especially if you can find a refurbished unit. DO IT! You know you want to. -
Best IMac to date!!!!!

Pros: Fantastic Display, Blazing Speed, SD Card reader built in, Super High End graphics
Cons: None so far

Summary: I upgraded to the I5 2.66 Quad Pro from my IMac 24 2.66 model and the first thing I noticed was the fantastic display that was razor sharp and almost 3D. I do mainly desktop publishing and I can put two documents side by side for editing. I also do digital photography and my photos almost jump out of the screen.
If you are thinking about upgrading, just do it. I have had none of the display issues (yellowing effect) and this so far has been the best 2K I have spent this year. Apple has a winner here. -
So far a great machine!
by damacer on December 11, 2009
Pros: Amazing monitor! Mouse is superb. Added 4GB upgrade on my own for less than $100. Run XP in Virtualbox for all my "legacy" stuff with zero problems. No heat issues. Very pleased I decided to switch back to Mac after 20 years of PCs.
Cons: A couple extra USB ports and an extra Firewire port would be nice. Would also like to see a Blu-ray drive. Wish you could buy the i7 machine from the Apple store (read about too many screen breaks in shipping for my comfort zone).
Summary: Overall experience has been excellent. Really tough to find fault. The large monitor almost seemed too large when I first started using it but I'm way over that now. ...

Quad Core Future
by talmy on December 10, 2009
Pros: i7 $200 BTO option gives Mac Pro performance and most future-proofing. Very quiet. Spectacular display. New Magic Mouse -- finally Apple does a mouse right. OS X is great OS. Minimal wire clutter. Aluminum back helps cooling.
Cons: SD but no CF slot. I didn't buy for entertainment so would prefer less extreme aspect ratio. They should bundle iWork, Bento, and 3 year AppleCare at these prices. Needs ESATA and more USB ports.
Summary: I reviewed under the Core 2 model, but this "slot" is closer to the i7 I bought. Since the i7 is only available Build To Order I suspect there won'...
Summary: I reviewed under the Core 2 model, but this "slot" is closer to the i7 I bought. Since the i7 is only available Build To Order I suspect there won't be a review here on CNET. This machine is built for the future. I've got virtually nothing that can keep it busy on all 4 cores (and 4 more virtual cores). It will probably be iLife '10 and new Pro Apps before it can really show its stuff. Meanwhile the display is fantastic in a room with good lighting and the mouse and keyboard work well. There have been reports of noisy hard drives, but mine is completely silent. The built-in speakers are good enough for my "mature" ears that I was able to ditch the externals. Try one out at the store. Bring some high res photos and/or video files and try out iPhoto and iMovie on this 27" display. You'll find it very hard to walk out of the store without buying.

Great machine
by nomuyvivo on December 7, 2009
Pros: A major accomplishment in design....!
Cons: Runs very hot, sometimes if you touch the upper metal part from the screen you will feel the high temperature, it is not a warm thing, sometimes it is real heat that you can't touch beyond 5 seconds and that is with all 3 fans working.
Summary: Although I bought the i7 model with the ATI video card(for this review sake) I must say APPLE did it again with this machine. This is my 3rd Mac. ...
Summary: Although I bought the i7 model with the ATI video card(for this review sake) I must say APPLE did it again with this machine. This is my 3rd Mac. I have MacBookPRO(nov 2009) for traveling and iMAC 24(from 2007-the last white generation) which after 2 years and a half of continuos service I decided to sell. Now the NEW 27" is a major beauty and not only looks, she is powerful too. Pay attention to this, the new one is 27" all right but she doesn't look so big when you compare with the old 24". They trick the screen very well. Putting aside the temperature and the new keyboard, this is a great machine. Apple pretty much has erased the line between the iMACS and the MacPRO...Who knows, maybe in a few months these people will come with some MacPRO with some crazy ultra-powerful processor and .....?????
