Apple iMac 27-inch (3.1GHz, spring 2011) price range: $4,209.14

The good: The new 27-inch iMac offers the best performance among current all-in-ones, along with the largest display, the best design, and exciting potential from its Thunderbolt ports.
The bad: We still miss built-in HDMI inputs for easy media component integration, and, as usual, custom hardware options for the iMac remain more expensive than those for its Windows-based competition.
The bottom line: We recommend Apple's new 27-inch iMac to digital media editors and others with serious performance needs on the strength of its impressive speed, its connected device potential, and its market-leading 27-inch display.

Awesome piece of art, do not listen negative reviews.
by resty78 on January 6, 2012
Pros: After new Mac Pro, this is the strongest and fast pc. Screen quality is amazing, it's opening the apps with lightning speed. My internet as fast as never be before. FI think with this price, this the best. I am using 27 inch and i7 3.4 Ghz one.
Cons: Do not have yet

Summary: Price. For me price is not a problem for me so thats why i could buy but people hit this amazing piece of art from this way because of jealousy. So this is Apple but people wanna see this pc in a "chocolate price" and review it even if they don't have this pc. Some gives two star just for not have 3D display, some because of price and the funny thing is one person said that he couldn't open anything with this pc. I think being funny must be something like this. If you do not know what is Mac, do not come closer to this machine.

Cons: None..... It doesn't have any problems since I bought it, well maybe it won't for the next 100 years.
Summary: Best computer out there! Works like Magic, I can't believe no other Pc companies can't beat the Mac, thats because its awesome and a magical device.

Great Computer
by mental1000 on October 13, 2011
Pros: Fast, reliable, workhorse
Cons: Windows with Parallels really slows down the computer
Repairs- Repairs are a pain, Apple WILL NOT sell you parts. You HAVE to take the computer to apple even when its out of warranty. I don't live close to an apple store, going to the apple store meansSummary: I LOVE mac computers with a passion, but I can't give them 5 stars when they are so horrible with accessibility for parts, but you don't need them ...
Summary: I LOVE mac computers with a passion, but I can't give them 5 stars when they are so horrible with accessibility for parts, but you don't need them very often.
I will still only own a mac but they really need to be more accommodating for customers who don't live near a apple store or only people who live near a store will buy them and that will hamper their growth. -
Continues to be an elegant, killer system
by talmy on October 10, 2011
Pros: Wireless (but power cord) if you want it
Fantastic display - big, vibrant, and lots of pixels
Dual thunderbolt ports
Footprint hardly more than a 27" monitor alone
Quiet
Good internal sound
Very advanced Lion OS
Great stylingCons: Could use more ports (USB3, ESATA, HDMI?)
Expensive to buy and repair (outside of warranty)
Limited expandability inside
Lion OS new autosave and versions features require adapting ones workflow.
No iDVD or iWeb apps anymore. No restore DVD.
At this priceSummary: We've had a number of iMacs since the "monitor on a foot" style originated 7 years ago. Each one has been better than the one before. It's become "...
Summary: We've had a number of iMacs since the "monitor on a foot" style originated 7 years ago. Each one has been better than the one before. It's become "computing nirvana" for me as I really despise my new HP Workstation (with dual monitors) at work compared to my iMac.
It's not a system for tinkerers, but I got over that tendency years ago. It is a system for getting work done. If you make money sitting in front of a computer, I can't think of a nicer one to have.
Warning -- OS X Lion will take some getting used to. Every edit is saved away by default which is both a blessing (no more accidentally lost work) and a curse (mistakes will be saved, too!). But an understanding of how to use Revert, Duplicate, and Versions (a TimeMachine for a document) is important. -

Nice but not perfect
by dbrow43 on September 19, 2011
Pros: Great all in one desktop with a beautiful display and not too bad for gaming. LION!
Cons: If you are into custom computers that run windows for gaming and have things like raid and ssd with and enthusiast gpu you will find it sluggish and simply okay.

* Great software already installed
* Runs super quiet
* Great size display

Great can be greater.
by snakespear1 on August 8, 2011
Pros: Great design, power, monitor, wireless capabilities, etc. - ahead of any competitor.
Cons: Glass screen cover has far far too much glare. Significant heat dissipation due to processor, graphics chip, DVD drive, and monitor require 3 internal fans sucking in substantial dust. Dust (and possibly mold in damp climates) gets between the glass scre

Summary: Would like to see the following on next generation (probably Spring): Ivy Bridge Intel processors (22nm); retina display pixel quality 30-inch monitor with better response rate; higher-end graphics chip (with 3-4 dedicated Gigs) to support the 30-inch retina display and at least another thunderbolt 30-inch retina display; ANTI GLARE covers on the displays that do not get dust/mold under them; thunderbolt display that sits exactly at the same level as the computer so they work better together; less/much thinner black frame around the display's edges; more RAM capability than 16GB and PRICED at market rates. There you go Apple - I could be your next Steve Jobs!

I love how easy it was to transfer all my docs,music & videos.
Lion upgrade was easy to download and install.Cons: I wish it has a blu-ray drive.

Summary: I've been wanting an iMac for a few years now and my PC was on its last leg to I purchased the 27-inch iMac and love this thing the screen is great, the keyboard, trackpad & magic mouse are AWESOME and so easy to use. I can't wait for the thunderbolt display to come out so I can run dual monitors. I know for the price you can get a BETTER configured PC but after VISTA and all the problems I decided to make the plunge and I don't regret it at all.

Awesome and convenient
Pros: high quality screen and easy use
Cons: tooo wide?
Specifications
- Manufacturer: Apple
- Part number: imacspring2011
- Description: Today's iMac has come a long way from the first 15-inch iMac. Take one look and you'll see just how far. A display with edge-to-edge glass covers nearly the entire front of the enclosure. When all you see is the display, nothing gets between you and what's onscreen. Movies, TV shows, FaceTime HD video calls, websites, photos - everything looks stunning on the widescreen 16:9 iMac display. The more pixels a display has, the more light those pixels need to achieve the best picture possible. And that's exactly what the LED backlighting in iMac does: it pushes light through each pixel with remarkable brightness and efficiency. Because the LED backlight doesn't take up much space, the iMac enclosure stays thin - even with all the high-performance components inside. The widescreen iMac display allows more room to separate the two hottest components, the CPU and the GPU. This keeps things cool inside the iMac enclosure. Apple engineers also implemented an intelligent control system that monitors temperatures and delivers just the right amount of airflow to critical components. And the three fans inside iMac have been tuned to be ultra quiet, so you hardly know it's on. Watching a movie, updating your blog, editing photos. Tasks like these require data to travel from place to place. The Intel Core architecture puts the processor, cache, memory controller, and graphics engine on a single chip. Since data doesn't have as far to travel, you get faster performance and greater efficiency. Thunderbolt technology has arrived - and Apple computers are the first to have it. With one tiny port, you get lightning-fast transfer speeds and huge expansion capabilities. Two 10-Gbps data channels per port mean you can transfer data up to 12 times faster than with FireWire 800. And don't worry about a single drive or peripheral tying up the Thunderbolt port: you can daisy-chain as many as six devices plus a display.
