Very handy, fits in coat pocket, zoom is awesome.
by postal1000 on April 10, 2009
Pros: Light, easy instructions, adjustable ZOOM from 37X optical, 41X combo, or 2000X digital! Decided to opt for 16 G card, which gives me 10 hours recording. Charge claims 200 minutes recording time. Replay of video and pictures works easy.
Cons: I have had nothing bad happen yet, so I say no CONS yet
Summary: I take a lot of videos of Railroads and post them on Youtube! The Kodak Z740 I was using would not allow zooming while filming, the Canon zooms smooth and ...

Not bad for the price, but a little "clunky"
by on November 22, 2009
Pros: Good image and audio quality. lightweight, compact. 8GB memory card is cheaper than buying the 8GB internal memory version for $100 more.
Cons: Pixela editing software is somewhat limited, as with most cameras. File format not compatible with Movie Maker. You have to be smarter than the camera and read the instructions carefully.
Summary: It's okay if you want a basic camcorder for shooting video of the family, sports and vacations. If you are looking for more editing options, you might want to ...

Canon FS200 - Good pocket size digital camcorder
by undrpsi on July 21, 2009
Pros: Small, light, and well built. Simple point and shoot interface (maybe too simple). Canon partnered with HSN to bring out the FS200 for under retail (heck, for under Ebay) pricing.
Cons: Canon could have brought better resolution and color to the party at this price point. Menu / buttons are confusingly laid out. Will not record with LCD closed. AWFUL still pictures. Instant video artifacts the moment you go into digital zoom.
Summary: If this camera was made by Aiptek it would cost $130...but with Canon it's double that. The build quality reflects this though. For almost 3 Benjamins they could ...

Summary: If this camera was made by Aiptek it would cost $130...but with Canon it's double that. The build quality reflects this though. For almost 3 Benjamins they could have brought 720p to the party. Great zoom but the 'jaggies' are so bad it's almost not worth having the long zoom. IS works good in opticial zoom range but suffers also in the digital zoom range. Canon could have made this a nice 720p HD entry level camcorder and get nothing '5 out of 5' ratings. As it is I give this a 3.5 rating with the caveat that just because it's got Canon on it is worth 1 point.

Great value for the price
by kibbeeluvr on April 16, 2009
Pros: Very compact, 3 hour battery life, great zoom range and quite solid for a flash based camcorder.
Cons: Not so great low light video quality and still photos but these are common problems with this class of camcorder. LED video light is pretty useless.
Summary: After comparing similar Sony, Samsung, and Panasonic flash camcorders in the same price range, the Canon was definitely the best of the bunch.

The external mic input sold me.
by louparte on November 8, 2009
Pros: External mic input. Easy to use.
Cons: The zoom moves kind of fast. I'm not sure how sturdy it is.
