Great Pro camera in a small package

Pros: Broadcast quality, records to SDHC cards, almost 2 Hour record time on 1080 I, 24P capable, records .mov files, pro type controls, SMALL and inconspicuous.
Cons: No standard Definition, no external focus/zoom control capability, needs better display and eye piece.

Summary: The JVC GY HM100U is an amazing small HD camera with broadcast quality capability. I was totally awed by the picture quality and pro type controls, similar to cameras costing thousands of dollars more.
Shooting in almost all 720 and 1080 HD formats the 100U performs like a champ. The only draw back to format is not being able to shoot standard definition, but it isn't a big deal cus you buy this camera for the HD capability.
The few draw backs are, a dual adjustment ring for either focus or zoom only, display is only visible from one angle, and the eye piece is worthless. The .mov files only work with Final Cut 6.5 or newer.
In the end the JVC GY HM100U shoots beautiful HD pictures in a small package that can sneak into almost anywhere. Files transfers to Final Cut Pro in seconds, which lets you crank out your project fast.

Finally...I see the light...its, its WORKFLOW!!!

Pros: Stunning 720 image quality, fujinon lens, small size, quality audio, great balance and weight, and workflow...
Cons: no lanc... requires extra effort and creativity when needed

Summary: I shoot 15+ hrs/wk, 9mo out of the yr, mostly educational, documentary, live event coverage, cobra crane, steady cam, and some extreme sports. First and foremost is workflow. Footage is dropped into FCP Studio 6.5, 7, (all HD footage is recorded in .mov) Image quality is very good, stunning when output via Kona lhe. Professional features and menu options. The compact controls are nothing to be scared of, after 4 hours use, I can select any combination of options including presets in a matter of seconds.
The JVC GY HM100U has changed the way I work. Productivity is up, quality is top notch and projects reach completion faster.
