41/2 stars, but could be 5 with 2 minor tweaks.....
by barth9126 on March 21, 2011
Pros: Great resolution(720p 30fs/720p 60fs/1080p!!!!), Small an light, but still tough. Awesome video editing/sharing software. Comes with the mini HDMI needed to play on an HDTV.
Cons: Audio recording records well up close, but outside of 10-20 ft. voices get faint. Digital zoom, this limits recording distant objects. Both of these cons are minor, and are easy to look past considering how good this camera is.
Summary: Bought this for recording my son's wrestling matches and it was the perfect buy for the job. Looked at the Flip Cam, but was wary of the flimsy looking ...
Summary: Bought this for recording my son's wrestling matches and it was the perfect buy for the job. Looked at the Flip Cam, but was wary of the flimsy looking USB stick connector. The video in 720p at 60 frames/sec. looks great, haven't even bothered with trying to record in 1080p(which uses a ton of storage). Hooked it up directly to my HDTV and watched the first recordings and was impressed. The software included works great for FB or Youtube uploads, and I am using it to make a highlight film, which has tons of video/caption/transition options. Could not be happier with this cam.

Summary: If you are looking for a camera that shoots hd video but you don't have the money to spring for an expensive camera, the Kodak Playsport is the answer for you! Shoots excellent video in WVGA, 1280X720, 1280X720 at 60 f/s, and 1080X1280 video. You're also able to take pictures that are sized at 5 MP. The amount of video and pics you take is dependent on what size memory card you have in the camera. I would suggest getting at least a 4GB card..
Nothing really is wrong with the camera. However, there is no flash, so taking pics in low to dark conditions in impossible. Also, the 5MP set size for pics leaves no room for you to take smaller size photos. And also, if you plan to shoot on the HD video settings, make sure you have charger or extra battery at your disposal, because that will eat up the battery life like candy..
Otherwise, a fun and easy camera for anyone to use. -
Good outdoors camera, tough, good sound, good pictures.
by PS Fuller on March 1, 2011
Pros: Simple, water-proof, and easy to handle.
Cons: My only regret is the kodacs lack of magnification options.
Summary: It's a great camera for taking on hikes or skiing or anywhere you have a chance of getting soaked.

Summary: The Kodak Playsport is a great camera for just about everyone. It's durable, it's WATERPROOF, it shoots up to 1080p HD, it takes photos, heck I wander if it can make my breakfast. I was really hoping there would be some sort of switch or a button to press to put it in a macro mode, but I can live with the infinity focus. The battery is...well...it kind of sucks. I don't know if this has anything to do with the fact that I am using a 16GB card with the camera, but when I start it up, I have to wait at least 2 seconds before the camera is even usable, but when it does boot, it's one of the better portable cameras i've owned...I'd even go so far as to say it could kill the Flip. it has more features, it has better quality, and it's much much cheaper. I'd reccomend it for anyone between the ages of 12 and however old you can be using a camera and not look weird.

Cons: Battery Life in HD Mode, Screen contrast settings could be better. Built in share software did not work with my Macbook pro.

Summary: I bought the play sport based on its size, ease of use and support for HD 1080. Have been impressed with image stability, photo quality and direct playback capability. I was wowed by it durability when I dropped it 10 plus ft. onto gym floor the first time I used it and it did not even get a scratch. I also love how portable it is and find myself using it more often than I expected. Overall a great camcorder for those folks with an active lifestyle where portability matters.

Summary: This camera is amazing. It is my first pocket camcorder and I have a lot of fun using it. Everything was great until I zoomed in one day. I zoomed in, and at about 75% to full zoom, the image vibrated and change colour momentarily. I zoomed out and it did the same thing in the same spot again. I tried different shooting modes (720p, 720p 60 fps, 1080, etc.) but it only changed a little. I contacted Kodak to get it repaired and they said that it was a problem with the model and that it could not be fixed. I know of many other people who have had the same problem. They say to turn off the EIS, so I do. It helps a little but the "shake" is still there. If I want the EIS on, I should be able to have it on without have to worry about the image NOT BEING STABLE! There is a video that I posted on Youtube if you would like to have a look at what I was talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H-nr45t-P4 . Please, if you could, could you please comment either here on on my youtube to let me know if you have the same problem. I want to create a group of people with the same problem to show to Kodak that the problem should be fixed!

Pros: Great size and wonderful HD full light video. Love that it uses SD card instead of internal memory. Software uploads video to YouTube easily. Love that I can take it to the beach and near the pool without issues.
Cons: Low light video is poor.

Summary: Overall its a nice product, if it had a flash/optical zoom, it would be close to perfect for the price. The lack of a optical zoom lens instead of digital zoom loses sharpness. Best to get the big picture and edit later.

Awsome! Great video quality, waterproof small and easy
by DBeastlyDozer on December 7, 2010
Pros: It performs in daylight almost as well as my Cannon HG20. I wasn't afraid to take it places I wouldn't take my expensive equipment. We took it on a swim with the Dolphins and it worked great!
Cons: It is grainy in low light.
