Pros: Nifty new features if your a computer brainiac

Summary: I'm taking mine back. I wanted to be able to copy to disc and edit on windows. no-can do! Tech support was less than helpful, driver download didn't do anything for me. Software wasn't available or included to use with my PC. Couldn't get the USB to work either. Colossal waste of time for a $500 camera.

REALLY GOOD
by markharrison7872 on November 2, 2010
Pros: easy to use and record and edit from

Summary: i've not had any problems using this camcorder, so i dont really understand the slating that its been getting in the reviews, i use avs video converter with this to convert to avi, pinnacle to record from it to my editng studio, so all the people out there saying they cant use it in there pc, you must be doing something seriously wrong, as ive found it very easy to use and play around with, you get two options when you choose to format the discs, my advice is this, select the one that allows you to be able to play the disc in another dvd player and go from there. its really a sinch once you get the hang of it, saying that though im currently in the process of saving up for a cam with good night vision capabillities, but thats not cause this one is no good, its so i can record the things i do from multiple angles and im away, any suggestions from the c-net community on what kind of night vision cams are really good and for a decent price, like NOT in the thousand pound range?

Discs produced tend to be unreadable/uncopyable
by Yashmyn on August 15, 2009
Pros: Video quality is good when played back on the camcorder itself.
Cons: It's hard to play discs directly in other DVD players because some discs considered unreadable. Also the camcorder frequently needs to be reset. Frustrating when trying to capture a moment that won't stand still for you.
Summary: If you want to make copies of your DVDs to give to others, don't use this camera. I tried to use Windows DVD Maker, and I've even tried ...
Summary: If you want to make copies of your DVDs to give to others, don't use this camera. I tried to use Windows DVD Maker, and I've even tried a Roxio package, and so far two of the 20 discs I recorded on are considered unreadable. (I can play them on the camcorder fine, but I can't copy them.) Have to say that it was refreshing to read the other complaints, because for the past week I thought it was just me. Borrow the camera from someone else and use it and try to copy the DVDs you make, before you buy it.

Summary: This camera would be a great camera if it did what it's supposed to do. I had this camera for almost 2 months and discovered the hard way that this camera is prone to errors when writing to the disc. To what I understand, the camera has an internal RAM chip that is not user accessible. While recording video the footage is stored there temporarily until full. Once the RAM is full the camera now writes the disc. The problem is, if you bump the camera while this process is taking place or if the disc has the slightest scratch or even finger print, the display will read "Error...Please press reset". As soon as you do this all of the video footage that you just captured is LOST!!! There is no bigger bummer than loosing that perfect shot., or loosing a once in a life time event.
This might have been a defect on the camera that I got, but now the camera destroys discs that were once readable on my computer. I had some discs that were full and went back in play mode to watch them on the camera and now some of those discs don't work.
Stay away from this camera at all costs, it does more bad than good

Pros: pretty junk
Cons: Buggy and unresponsive. Week Tech Support.
Summary: I'm more tech savy than most you'll ever know so believe me when I say this is riddled with problems. A decent design layout but horrable quality.

Pros: Very easy to use. Dont even need the manual
Cons: Does not take still pictures. But thats not what a camcorder is for.

Summary: No this camera does not have alot of toys to it, but that is what makes it great. It is easy to use. Few bottons, nobs and dials to get confused with. Joystick is easy to use. It produces great pictures and seems to be good in lower light which seems to be a short coming of other camcorders. Easy to add a longer life battery to unlike the Canon line. Easy access for the fire wall and adapters. Nice LCD screen, but could be bigger. (However larger LCD camcorders suck more of the limited battery life.) Limitations: It does not have a built in light or the ability to take still pictures like the Panasonic VDR-D200. It does not offer as stable of a picture as the Sony line, but it still gives a great picture with little to no noticable shake. It does not come with the computer software program for the Still Camera or movies as does the VDR-D200. For its price range this is a great camera.
