  I've seen better camcorders

  Summary: I was in the market for a HD camcorder around this price point. I just found that the CX-100 and the XR-100 looked identical when it came to picture quality. The XR-200 still had the same colour inaccuracies but the OIS was good. However OIS isn't enough to convince me to buy it when the colour performance was poor and inaccurate. I saw all three models side by side in a store and I must admit there are brands out there that are cheaper and perform better. See for yourself and do the comparions. The GPS was fun though. But a feature like this I'll probably only use it a couple of times.

  Not Ergonomic, Low spec, Poor Quality Images

  Cons: Not ergonomic, low quality still images, poor video quality indoors. Low spec, No Mac compatibility unless you have latest version FCP(7)

  Summary: Having used many professional cameras for many years I really just wanted a video point and shoot to catch moments with the kids, I thought this was it. Sony is very reputable in the pro industry but this home product is well below par. The ergonomics on this camera will cause carpal tunnel syndrome in all but those that have huge hands. The hand grip becomes very uncomfortable after only 5 minutes of use. The image quality indoors even in full afternoon light is extremely poor and still images are as if they had been taken by a 5 year old mobile phone camera. The resolution is 4mp but the sensor(1/5) is so small that it does not matter what the resolution is, you will still have a very grainy image. Over all the camera has poor specifications and is really in my opinion an over priced low-end camera pretending to be middle of the road. I plan on returning this unit

  Today, it was my first video with the XR200.. Wonderful

  Pros: Very steady shots, even with full zooming.
  Great face detection.
  Audio zooming is just perfect.
  Very high quality product.
  Night shot mode.
  Easy to use.
  Playback on TV is just wonderful.

  Cons: Battery at high definition mode can last only 140 minutes.
  Expensive

  Summary: I just bought this camcordor 3 days ago. Today, it was my first video, and it was really a very hard test. One from montreal tower, where you need a great zoom, the stability was just great using full zoom. Then it was my visit to the Biodome, with people everywhere, face detection, night shot, smile detection, audio zooming, high speed moving fishes. The camera did really a great job.
  Coming back to home, I have connect the camcorder to the HD TV, the shots was really so nice, it was very easy to switch between different shots.
  The light detection for this camcorder is really so nice, just move from light to dark, and you will see how the light was automatically adjusted.
  
  If you want a great HD camcorder, don't hesitate.
  By the way, I didn't care about the 4 Megapixel steady shot, as I prefer using my alpha 200 to get steady shots.

  Low spec camcorder

  Pros: 120GB storage
  15x zoom

  Cons: Tiny Image sensor
  $$$ Expensive MS cards if needed.
  Low 16Mbs bit rate and not 24Mbs like other brands.

  Summary: This camcorder uses a tiny CMOS image sensor of only 1/5". Imagine how this will perform indoors or when under low light recordings. They'll need to rely heavily on their Exmor technology electronics but when you involve electronics it doesn't help much with the amount of noise generated as I found with last years model HDR-SR10.
  
  Why do they keep on interpolating the pixels of the image sensor to the max (artificially create pixels). I mean how do you get 4MP from a 2MP sensor ????
