Summary: Over all this is a good camera but it needs to get an AGC fix ASAP. Warranty issues will be a fight with Canon.

Warranty on this product I have come to find is a joke. Canon with fight you tooth and nail. I had to get the BBB involved. No AGC fix yet either. Thoroughly disappointed with Canon. I wish I could go back and give them 2 stars
Pros: -Excellent build quality -Fast, and sharp AF -New AF system -Sharp image quality -HD video quality is good -Large, clear screen -Fast burst shooting -Fast image processing -Secondary back-lit LCD -100% viewfinder coverage
Cons: -Some key setting controls are oddly placed - On the heavy-side -Only one CF slot -HD video menu, and operation is a bit clunky to get used to -HD video has slower auto-focus than still image Does not include an HDMI cable out of the box

Summary: I have been shooting with a variety of DSLR's for a while, but have been using my now 3 year old XTi most of the time. I needed an upgrade that had a lot of pro features, but with a price tag that was reasonable. I decided on the new Canon 7D and could not be happier.
The camera feels really good to hold, and has great build quality and feels very rugged and durable. It is certainly a big jump up from my XTi.
It's a good thing to read the manual, even if you are comfortable with SLR cameras as there are a lot of shortcuts and user customizations available which are nice. The only thing I do not like about the control interface are the small buttons on the top right of the camera near the shutter release. your fingers get quite cramped as you try and change settings, but you have the option to change what buttons change settings, it just takes a bit of time to set up.
Image quality is superb and is highly customizable as well. Very sharp with nice colour reproduction and detail. The 8fps burst mode is a great tool to have, and remains fluid and responsive even when taking many shots dude to the dual image processors, I haven't got it to lag yet. It's entertaining being able to take 30 RAW quality images at 8fps without the camera stopping you to write to the card every few shots (though it helps to have a fast card for best results).
The HD video mode is getting better on Canon SLR's but is still feels clunky to use. The video is pretty sharp, but not as sharp as the image quality. Colours are surprisingly good with good detail reproduction. The bitrate on the video and audio is very high and looks/sounds high quality. Auto-focus in video mode is a pain to use and is sluggish, I can manual focus much faster than the auto-focus. Despite the control issues you get very good results that surpass some standalone HD camcorders I have used (even at the $600-700 price range).
The viewfinder is 100% is nice and clear. The internal viewfinder screen makes you feel like you are looking through the eyes of the Terminator (it's not red, but it has a lot of information displayed without being cluttered) You have to see it to know what I am talking about.
I could go on, and on about this camera, but I am sure this will get the point across. I think the 7D is a very solid mid-pro SLR that really packs a powerful punch for the cost,a great value!
