Amazing DLSR that takes high quality photographs
by Anysia on June 12, 2010
Pros: Light, easy to use, settings at the flip of a wheel or push of a button so you don't lose the subject of what you're aiming for.
Cons: Canon still doesn't include lens hoods, many software programs don't recognize its RAW format yet.
Summary: I have to politely disagree with the CNET reviewer, the view finder isn't annoying in the slightest. One of the best things I like about the display are large ...
Summary: I have to politely disagree with the CNET reviewer, the view finder isn't annoying in the slightest. One of the best things I like about the display are large clear fonts and symbols, and that the display goes off once you put your fact to the view finder. AI Servo and continuous/burst works very quickly, even when using RAW format. Photo quality is excellent.
I find the lack of lens hoods a bit annoying as even the 'cheap' DSLRs come with them as part of their kit, but they can be found. A lens hood is much better to use than a lens safety filter, as all filters aren't made the same and it can boggle up your photograph. Battery life is exceeding good. I shot over 800 photographs jpg w/ raw, before I had to recharge the battery. This was outdoor shooting, or pushing the ISO up to 800/1600, so if you do use the flash, it will use up the battery faster.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

It performs beautifully as an entry level camera.
by Nuts_Butts on January 2, 2012
Pros: It has an 18 MP sensor like its big brothers.
It has the same autofocus as its big brothers.
You can use high-quality canon lenses with it.
As a bonus it does HD video at 30 fps.
It's light.Cons: I honestly have no big complaints about it. I have one dead pixel on the LCD screen. You don't notice it unless you are really looking for it and if it falls in the dark area of an image. Oh, and I wouldn't mind having intermediate ISO options.
Summary: CNET gave this camera a pretty ratty review. I don't think it deserved it at all. All I can say is that I hope CNET operates under the premise ...
Summary: CNET gave this camera a pretty ratty review. I don't think it deserved it at all. All I can say is that I hope CNET operates under the premise that 3 stars is average, in which case, the T2i comes in above average.
The camera takes great pictures in a fairly simple package. There are extra bells and whistles to mess with, but you have to remember this really is an entry level camera, with the same sensor and autofocus as canon's higher end APS-Cs. It has all you need(and really all i personally want) in an entry-level DSLR: A manual mode. The manual controls are easy to use while looking through the view finder. FYI, if you read CNET's review, the reviewer was complaining about the ISO button being on the top of the camera. The reason it's on the top of the camera is so that you can punch it and adjust the iso with the wheel while still looking through the viewfinder. The way the reviewer prefers it, it would be inaccessable behind your face.
Sure, if you compare this thing to the 60D or the 7D it's gonna fall short. It's not weather sealed. It's not quite as flexible. It doesn't take as many frames per second. No intermediate ISO. No fancy LCD on the top of the camera. It is, however, more affordable and has comparable image quality. I think it's a fair trade.
Remember that all reviews are objective. If you're new to DSLR this camera will be more than enough. If you are used to a better camera, this camera is going to seem a little weak. But, If you're used to a better camera, why would you be buying a T2i.
I love this camera. My wife has a 60D. We got the T2i because it was a really good value for a second DSLR so we could take classes together and shoot at the same time. Her camera is nicer, but I am perfectly satisfied and more comfortable with the T2i. It is a simple and effective tool.
Spend your money on nicer lenses. Not a nicer camera body. Camera bodies become obsolete much faster than lenses and play a smaller roll in image quality. Lenses also retain their value much better.
But I digress.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

very good intermediate DSLR under 1000 dollars
by zhjiln on November 4, 2010
Pros: full manual video mode 1080P variable framerates,
clean images up to iso 1600
amazing high resolution LDC screen,
light weight
great battery life
DOF preview button
decent burst rate i achieve 3.9FPS (10 shots in 2.57 seconds)Cons: 18-55mm kit lens is so-so,
hand grip is too small,
penta-mirror (dim viewfinder)
cheap plastic feeling,
no top LCD info screen
pixel density isn't good. 18MP is unnecessarySummary: the rebel T2i doesn't get it all right due to the dim viewfinder, cheap build,

noise issues beyond iso 3200 due to cramming 18MP on this sensor. and lack of top LCD info screen.
The excellent video mode is a great redeeming factor and thus a good buy over the 50D, barely.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: This is my first DSLR and i am very impressed with it. it works very nicely at concerts and Coffeehouses where it is dark. the HD video is nice to have on a DSLR so you can quickly switch between taking pictures and doing video. the battery level isn't bad. If you have the display off while using it, it last a really long time. it has a lot of ports like you can plug in your own microphone if you dont like the internal one on the camera. Also has mini HDMI port which is nice for viewing HD video on a HD Screen instead of A/V connection.

Delivers on quality and value--great starting DSLR.
by Kourosmenis on April 24, 2012
Pros: Easy to use, interface, button layout and functionality all "make sense"
Performs decently well in low-light. Handles fast-action shoots "ok" for a beginner DSLR.
LCD display is gorgeous and accurateCons: Biggest complaint for me is the noise of the shutter. I use my camera in my ministry work and I find the noise of the shutter very distracting in certain situations. This is the reason why I had to give only 4 stars.
Summary: I am happy about this purchase with the exception of the shutter noise. Which seems to be pretty loud on the t2i, t3i, 60d and the 7d.

I compared the noise profile of these models (at best buy) to the Nikon's (d3100, d5100 and d7000) I found that the Nikon's are SUBSTANTIALLY MORE QUIET--- I am not a die-hard canon or nikon fan, and so if I had to do my DSLR purchasing over, I would have gone with DSLR that had the quietest shutter sound. -
Good entry level camera for first time user easy to use
by Sener69 on March 27, 2012
Pros: very easy to use for first time dslr camera users, takes great pics with the 18mp. HD video also captures great moments. But haven't DL any videos. Only watched them on the lcd screen.
Cons: none that I know of yet...
Summary: For a starter camera or even a back up i would recommend this camera, & would buy again!

Summary: As a newbie to the wonderful world of DSLRs, (just getting weaned off of Point-&-Shoot cameras), I did weeks of research before deciding upon this camera and I am NOT disappointed. This little baby is wonderful! Picture quality is A-MAZING, it's super-fast (once you have learned how to use it, lol), There are many different modes/scenes to modify and to choose from, and entry-level photographers AND experts recommend this camera as a solid device for all photographer levels :-)

I love this camera 18MP
by GeneralWarefare7 on December 30, 2011
Pros: Of coarse 18mp
Extremely good video quality
DSLR so you can get some cool lenses
Good if you have editing software
Easy to use
Cheaper than the other DSLR's of this class
Has the same image quality as the 7d and the T3i
editers camera must have...Cons: It is a good camera but the lense it comes with is sluggish
you should really get an extra battery because it has a short battery life
the camera breaks down when you expand on a TV.
doesn't have the swivel screen so expect scratches on the screenSummary: It is a definitive buy on my end
I Love it
I am a major editor so I am extremely pleased

I Love it
I am a major editor so I am extremely pleased
I have bought a few lenses for it and they a pronominal
18MP cant say that enough
MEGA QUALITY
GO CANON
If you are into editing and youtube work then this is the best one for you
If you upload to youtube it will compress anyway so it is the best you can get
I got mine for 650 and I think that is a fair deal and I will not upgrade until the last minute because I LOVE THIS CAMERA...
-to get the most for your money
you need to buy a LCD Screen with it and also you should make a Shoulder mount, also you really need a new lense.
MAKE SURE IT IS A EF LENSE NO OTHER WILL FIT REMEMBER.
I have always used Canon because I think nikon is a terrable camera and they are a extreme BS price company -
Lots of bells and whistles. Love the build quality.
by PaulzCnet on May 24, 2011
Pros: Fast startup. LCD accurate enough to actually see what you've captured. Long proprietary battery life. Fast menu.
Cons: I could mention what I wish it had, but those wouldn't be CONS now, would they ... I knew what features I was buying.
Summary: I upgraded from a Rebel XT, which itself was an upgrade from the Canon compact digital cameras. I am so pleased with their entire line. From the lens to the ...
Summary: I upgraded from a Rebel XT, which itself was an upgrade from the Canon compact digital cameras. I am so pleased with their entire line. From the lens to the final output, this camera is just right.
I like the fact that there are no buttons on the left side of the LCD, so that my right hand can do almost everything.
I've paired it with a Selphy CP-800 printer, and take this camera on the road with me sometimes.
