Pros: Fairly intuitive interface, nice-sized camera with a good-sized 2.5" LCD screen. Takes great clear. vivid shots in automatic mode, which it seems can be used for every occasion. So it's really a great casual camera. Syncs perfectly with my MacBook.
Cons: No viewfinder and a grainy LCD screen feel awkward at first. In playback mode the pictures look fine. When taking a picture the screen is grainy. So you just frame the shot in the LCD screen and snap the pick. It ends up producing super pictures.

Summary: Amazing value at $120. This camera is many times better than my Sony both in terms of ease of use and picture quality. In the 10 MP highest quality picture mode, with automatic settings, it take fantastically vivid, clear pictures suitable for framing. It really couldn't be easier. I want to get into higher end Canon digital cameras with removable lenses and better manual control and detail work. I have a Canon 35 mm camera from the '60s with a lens that's worth a couple grand alone. I just haven't gotten into that level of photography. Until then, I think I'm doing quite well with this Canon A480.
Pros: I've had this camera for about 2 weeks. The pictures are great if you have decent light. The video quality is decent.
Cons: This is a point and shoot, plain and simple. Don't expect great results in low light. In a night time stadium setting the results were disapointing. It feels like a low-end camera. Thin and plasticy. The zoom doesn't feel very solid.
Summary: Comparing price versus features I would have to move to the $300 range before I would choose something else.
