The good: The Canon PowerShot G1 X delivers excellent photo quality and a nice shooting design.
The bad: Two flaws stand out: the camera's underperforming lens and sluggish shooting speed.
The bottom line: A big camera capable of shooting some lovely photographs, the Canon PowerShot G1 X's slow lens disappoints given its high price.

Amazing Picture Quality from a P&S

Pros: Sharp photos with lots of vibrant colors & contrast up to ISO 3,200
Low noise
Nice articulating screen
Excellent flash coverage with the ability to use external flashes
Cons: Snap On Lens Cap!! UG!!!

Summary: The G1X is a marvelous camera that takes detailed, vibrant photos as ISO's that would have been unimaginable a year or two ago. I also own a 5d Mark 2 and 1d Mark III. The image quality from this camera is just as good as either of my Canon dSLR's in a much more portable and less intimidating package. It is not a camera for fast moving subjects, but for most everything else this camera really shines.

Great camera with some limitations.

Pros: Got this camera 1 wk before a once in a lifetime trip to Aust and N Zea. Used the 24 hour flight time to familiarize myself with its workings. Wished I'd had more than the "getting started" guide. However was able to take some frame worthy photos.
Cons: Auto focus is a bit slow, and macro is a joke, but as was mentioned before there are accessories to get around the macro problem

Simple, Great photos and a great camera for an amateur.

Pros: Great picture quality, great for someone who is after a camera that takes great quality pics but doesn't want the size of a dslr. Have used this for a week and have been to a few parties and motorsports events. great camera! very happy customer.
