Nice Camera, but Shot to Shot capability lacking

Summary: I specifically purchased this camera to eliminate the lag between shots. All of the reference data that I had reviewed show the camera near the top of the ratings for point and shoot cameras. Unfortunately, when the flash is engaged, the performance is not very good. I ran a test against a Canon SD 800, and the difference in performance was appreciable. The 800 was signficantly quicker when the camera was used to take multiple shots in fairly quick sequence. According to Canon Tech Support, the 800 has a stronger battery that provided this quick refresh or minimal shot to shot lag.

Summary: I bought this camera as a point and shoot to carry in my pocket for pictures of the kids. After lenghty reading online, I somehow managed to miss that there was no image stabiliztion. I had pretty much assumed it was given at this price point. I am constantly getting "motion" warnings and my pictures are often blurry. Where are all those "spectacular" pictures everybody is talking about? What's the good of a point and shoot that you can't simply pull out of your pocket and take a picture? There were smaller, slimmer and cheaper cameras I could have purchased at the time. I would NOT buy this camera again.

Specifications
- Manufacturer: Canon
- Part number: PowerShot SD1000
- Description: Canon looked to the very first ELPH for inspiration when designing the PowerShot SD1000 Digital ELPH, and came up with a quintessential iteration of the icon: slim, clean-lined and fully flat. Inside, the SD1000 Digital ELPH looks only to the future: 7.1 megapixels, a 3x optical zoom and advanced DIGIC III ensure top-quality images, while focus is fast and sharp and red-eye is automatically corrected. The large and more colorful LCD screen now has a tough, anti-reflective coating that makes it as durable as it is beautiful.
