A must have for a point and shoot.
by t0xiceyes on February 27, 2010
Pros: Love everything about it. The picture quality is great as well as the hd video and full 3.5 touch screen. The features are great and really easy to use and the battery life is pretty good. The HDMI is also great for hd playback on your tv.
Cons: The only con I have is the touch screen. It will take little getting used to but it does come with a small stylus attached to the lanyard which works great.
Summary: All in all, Canon has always made great cameras. The photos are sharp, clear, and colorful. The 720p hd video is great and its compact. Like I said before, the ...

Great compact camera for the price!
by mmathur98 on May 28, 2010
Pros: Excellent picture quality, good low light pictures, loads of great features.
Cons: The touch screen could be better, but it is good for what it is.
Summary: Although it has its problems with the touch screen, the great value, superb picture quality, and ample amount of features makes this one of the best compact, non-DSLR cameras, I ...

Pros: it took beautiful pictures especially the macro
lots of different settings
the auto was pretty awesome
nice colour balance
excellent picture quality
a really great point and shootCons: high price made me very worrisome
it was stolen about 3 different times = 3 new cameras. :(
the colour balance was sometimes off, up close face shots created a higher contrast = orange colour & lower definition
touch got frustrating sometimesSummary: i miss my camrea very much
it was definetly one of my favourites and it took such sick photos

A complete disapointment
by M-Striker on February 18, 2011
Pros: Cannot not think of any
Cons: Terrible picture quality. 4 out 5 photos are out of focus, incorrect WB for indoor shooting, a very long delay for the flash to recharge. And this is almost in every shooting mode: A, P, Portate, indoors, etc.
Summary: I have been a big fan of Canon cameras. Owned 2 SLRs, and 6 point and shoot ones in the last 9 years. SD3500 was by far the worst ever ...
Summary: I have been a big fan of Canon cameras. Owned 2 SLRs, and 6 point and shoot ones in the last 9 years. SD3500 was by far the worst ever purchase made by me. I am saddened to observe a downward quality trend of Canon products. Every camera I bought had worse quality than the one before. Right now it downright terrible. One more purchase like this and I will switch to other brends. Shame on you Canon. Shame!!!

Great for Real Estate
by TJbildz on December 23, 2010
Pros: I needed an affordable camera with a wide angle option for taking pictures of listings. So far it's been a great camera!
Cons: None to report as of yet
Summary: Great option for Realtors looking for a wide angle lens without spending big bucks.

Fragile touchscreen-- Canon wont repair!
by aksimper on October 1, 2010
Pros: I was so happy with this camera when I first purchased it. It takes great photos, has a great interface, and is sleek.
Cons: broke easily, not covered by warranty

Summary: After a few months, I traveled to visit my sister by plane. I kept my camera in carry-on luggage and stored it under the seat in front of me-- it was also in its carrying case. When I got to my sister's the touch screen was broken. Doesn't take photos. Completely broken, and Canon wants to charge me $150 to fix. I'm very disappointed! I called Canon to complain, saying that I'd let others know about the poor quality of the camera, and they offered 20% off the repair price. What a waste of money. Save yours and buy something that wont brake on you!

A great camera for the price, i'm very satisfied
by JoeWMD on July 6, 2010
Pros: Great pictures, touch screen, ease of use. My pictures have been in the good to excellent range in terms of focus, color and brightness. An improvement over my prior camera which yielded a host of out of focus shots, especially in dim conditions.
Cons: So far, after less than a months use, the only con is the access doors for the exporting photos and videos, which seem flimsy and are hard to open. Also, I would have liked a bit more zoom.

Summary: I was hesitant about getting any point and shoot camera because of the use of the screen rather than a viewfinder to compose photos. But I have had no problem adjusting, screen is large, bright and provides the ability to set the focus to a particular object. The touch screen makes it simple to use the various features and modes without having to memorize a complex menus system built around only a few controls. and review of photos is great. You can even do a slide show. I have found just using the Auto mode works great for 90% of normal photos At this writing I have not used the video feature, so I cannot comment on that feature.

Love the touch screen.
by MMRudy on June 23, 2010
Pros: I bought the camera for its wide angle ability. The range, 24mm to about 105mm, is quite satisfactory. The touch screen makes menu searching easy. Color rendition is excellent. Video is easy and fun to use. Does well indoors using available light.
Cons: Image quality not as sharp as the Panasonic ZS-7 or even my Kodak V550. The scene modes are disappointing. There is not a reliable substitute for the Kodak's "museum" mode. Time to write to the card seems excessive. Time between shots seems long.
Summary: There are more pros than cons for the SD 3500. I'll be using it to shoot sunsets (no scene for that), art work in museums, room interiors. Pictures will ...
Summary: There are more pros than cons for the SD 3500. I'll be using it to shoot sunsets (no scene for that), art work in museums, room interiors. Pictures will go into newsletters and emails. Prints will rarely exceed 5" by 8". So, I do wish that Canon kept the pixels maxed at 10 megs, rather than 14+. I am an amateur photographer, so appreciate the auto mode and will use scenes if appropriate. The camera size and weight are ideal for every day use, 5.6 oz and about 3.9" long, another reason I chose this Canon. It's a very nice point and shoot for the true amateur. All in all the SD3500 is fun to use, but probably not the sharpest image catcher currently available.
I used the SD3500 to take night shots at the local skate park just after dusk. The auto mode captured excellent but somewhat noisy pictures. The night shot mode took just plain noisy pictures.
