The good: The Canon PowerShot SX150 IS offers very good photo quality and features for its class, including semimanual and manual shooting modes, and it uses AA-size batteries.
The bad: The SX150 IS' shooting performance is miserable, as is its battery life, especially using alkaline batteries.
The bottom line: If a long lens, AA batteries, and some creative control over your photos are what you're after, the Canon PowerShot SX150 IS is a good choice. That is, as long as you don't mind it being painfully slow.

Jamal Latham is spot on....sucks up battery juice.
by mak_8777 on January 29, 2012
Pros: My first digital camera experience. I liked the fish eye feature.
Cons: Takes up wayyyyy to much battery juice.
Summary: Stay away from this camera. Find another one which CNET may have reviewed. There are plenty of choices out there. I wanted to give this a half star, but that ...

Not as good at the SX100

Summary: So I thought I was upgrading my SX100 which I was very pleased with. But the picture quality is not a good with my sx150 compared to my pics from my sx100. Even though there are more mega pix. than the sx100 the picture is grainy.
Not as good AS the sx100

Bought this camera to replace my SX120IS.
by kscheyeos on July 4, 2012
Pros: Improved metering and image quality. Video recording button on the back witch makes it easier to video in a pinch. Manual mode.
Cons: The battery door is questionable. When trying to take photos in continuous mode the camera becomes sluggish.

Summary: Any camera that use AA batteries you need to use rechargeables as your primary power (use NiMh with a amp rating 2300mah or higher). NonRechargeable Alkaline and lithium AA's should only be used as a backup power source. Anyone that have used digital cameras in the past should already know to use rechargeable batteries. Short battery life using alkaline's, lithium's or low Amp rechargeables (anything under 2300mah) is a give me and shouldn't be a listed as a con. Quality and make of the camera; image quality; how the camera handles and feels while using; easy of use; display size and quality should be listed in the pros and/or cons. If any camera gets a low picture count even when using rechargeables, then this is a major CON and should be returned. I have been using different digital cameras for about 10 years and I have learned my lesson when it comes to the power source of the camera the hard way.

It's heavy and battery expensive, but ok shoots
by geraluvi on March 22, 2012
Pros: It can take good pictures and zoom is very powerful, coupled with its stabilizer possible to make good shots.
Cons: Looks like a poorly planned design because swallows a lot of energy and make it impossible to use the video, which makes their life and their performance leave much to be desired.
Summary: Not help much because it spends too much energy and can not take videos of more than a minute because you run out of batteries

Canon PowershotSX150is
by JamalLatham on January 1, 2012
Pros: A larger footprint and better hand-feel then the Powershot A1100is (which the SX150 replaced). A beautiful looking Red chick magnet. All the features you could ever want in a digital camera.
Cons: The camera calls for niMh-rechargeable batteries, I had 3 sets of brand-new regular 'AA' batteries, which didn't last as long as it took me to insert. Right after installing the new batteries, low battery came on!. Incredible. Recommanding NiMh...

I wish I never brought it - and I blame CNET for not reviewing this camera prior to my purchase. I waited and waited for your review, nothing. Even right now, New Years Day, still no review.
