Summary: Well this camera is quite good when use in good lighthing conditions. When work inside a low lighthing conditions / flash off, the camera will produce bad images unless you have a tripod stand and increase exposure time.
During the increased exposure time, any vibration to the camera will blur the image.
My opinions: This is a overall good camera except when shooting in the dark.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Good Camera For the Price
by niki2801 on February 19, 2006
Pros: AA batteries; Affordable; Lots of shooting modes; Decent picture quality; Creates non-proprietary jpg or avi files that everyone can view
Cons: Battery monitor not helpful; Not as small as many compact cameras; image stablizer is useless due to excess noise

Summary: Overall, this is a very good camera, and I have been very happy with my purchase. Though it fits my needs very well, there are a few negative points that might bother some users. It's not as small as I would have liked (I would have preferred something akin to Canon's SD450), but that's the sacrifice made to have a good camera that uses AA batteries.
In response to prior reviews about poor print quality, I have not had any problems. The first week I had the camera, I spent a lot of time playing around with the different functions and options. I then took the memory card to Walgreens and printed out some sample pics. They turned out just fine. I will say, however, that the image quality is not superior. This is not a professional photographer's camera. But, for the average point-and-shoot user, this camera will do well. At 7.2 megapixels, all of my photos have turned out at least as well as those I used to take with my film camera.
As noted above, though it is nice to have a camera with a battery indicator, when using rechareable batteries, the indicator has been mostly useless. It will go from green to red and then back again many times over. Though the battery life of my 2300mAh batteries was in reality great (I didn't time them, but they lasted several weeks, helping me fill up my 512mb memory card 2-3 times), I had no real idea when it was that they were going to give out. I have to make sure to carry an extra set just in case.
Also, the anti-shake DSP mode (which can be turned off) is not very helpful. The DSP causes so much noise that I never use it. But, fortunately, the DSP isn't needed to get good photos, and the other Best Shot modes are pretty helpful. There are a wide variety of modes from portrait to landscape to splashing water (and everything in between).
Overall, I am very happy with this camera. It meets my needs very well. In looking for a camera, I mainly considered: size, use of AA batteries, and overall picture quality. I think I got a good combination of the three.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Convenient and versatile. Overall a great value!
by psyd4me on December 23, 2005
Pros: Great pictures, very decent video. Large LCD Screen. 7.2 MP resolution is great. Compact design with enough choices to satisfy amateurs wanting to expand their capability. Anti-shake technology.
Cons: None noted thus far.

Impressive camera, good pictures

Summary: Nice camera. real value for money. Donot get a 7.2 million pixel camera for this price. Picture quality is excellant in most condition except when lighting is poor. I do not know if it was me, but pictures in macro mode were not good, but I do not take many picture so close. And this can be compensated to a certain extent by taking the pictures bit far off and editing them using any decent photoeditor software. Brilliant modes. My previous camera was aKodak 6340 and this is lot nicer in every aspect - picture quality, size, ease of use and price. (though I should not really be comparing a 3.2 million Vs a 7 milliion pixel camera). One annoying feature is to get back in to the picture mode after reviewing the pictures one needs to switch off the camera and then on it again. I will definitely recommend for any body who need a point and shoot camera.

Fast, easy-use, well-designed 7.2MP camera under $300
by wfairley on January 7, 2006
Pros: Basic manual controls, high-quality movies, AA batteries, a fast shutter response and great price make this camera a winner.
Cons: Slightly larger due to the batteries, no raw file format, the manual should be more clear and thorough, control markings are hard to see, and I'd like a stronger flash.

After an exhaustive research effort, I chose the Casio EX-Z57 for my parents because of the large screen, and they love it; so do I. A month later, Casio debuted the EX-Z120. After looking it over at the local Wolf Camera shop, I took my neighbor down and she bought to take home to Cyprus during Christmas break. She loves it; so do I. I especially like the quality, speed, design, and the inclusion of manual controls, however the process of using the controls is a bit klugey, and the buttons are not well-marked; there are little iconic depressions cast into the cameras body to identify the different button functions, and the icons are a bit hard to distinguish, especially in low light. Once you learn the functions, it's not a problem. Other than a weak flash, the camera takes excellent photos, and the movie mode quality is amazing. The EX-S500 has a "Past Movie" mode which records 5 seconds BEFORE you press the button, and I'm not yet sure if that is a feature of the EX-Z120. Using a tripod (even if you use the tripod like a handle and carry it) adds stability to your movies.
The camera feels great, takes great images and movies, has very quick shutter response and store times, and with NimH batteries will take hundreds of shots using the flash and screen. I like the controls on the Canon S80, but it's $500.
For less than $300, the Casio Exilim EX-Z120 is my recommended camera deal of the week! -
Poor print quality for a 7 meg camera

planning on printing your photos, dont buy this camera!!
by mr7868 on January 4, 2006
Pros: nice 2" LCD screen, photo editing within camera, compact size
Cons: when printing out photos, very grainy, photos look like they were taken with a 2 mp camera, no memory card supplied, not mac compatible

Summary: i thought buying a 7.2 mp camera for this price was a steal; along with a 2" LCD screen, compact size and being a MAC guy, MAC compatible, how could i go wrong?!
WRONG I WAS!! I bought this camera to replace my canon A70 3.2 mp camera that was shot. I took it out the box, placed my 1G SD card and batteries in it, went to the initial set-up, took a few shot.....tried to install the software that states on the box is MAC OSX compatible, not compatible at all, so i just went with the pict birdge feature to print them....and they looked like crap! I thought maybe it was me, maybe the settings were wrong....went to the manual, made some adjustments....took 10 shots, 1 print out of 9 was good....then i started to think, maybe it was the camera and not me.
Read the whole manual over the weekend,
took about 50-75 shots over the new years weekend....got home, i printed out 10 photos...i just stopped the printing. NOT ONE PHOTO WAS DESCENT.
I took the camera right back to the store i purchased it at and went with the canon A610. I down graded to a 5 mp camera with a 2" LCD screen. Took that camera home, put in the batteries, put in my 1G SD card, took 2 shots, printed them out....I CANT EVEN COMPARE THE 2 PHOTOS I TOOK IN 5 SECONDS TO THE OVER 100 SHOTS I TOOK WITH THE CASIO!!!
It was like night and day!!! And need i say, the canon was MAC OSX compatible as stated.
I would not recommend this camera to anyone, casio should taje this product off the shelves!!!
GO WITH ANY CASON THAT FITS YOUR BUDGET, MANY TO CHOOSE FROM!!
