The good: Small and stylish; comes with dock and remote.
The bad: Terrible image noise; remote control is almost superfluous.

Great look, sub-par pictures.
by Bagelsaurusrex on October 21, 2007
Pros: Stylish, sleek design, fairly easy-to-use interface, great for parties, very compact and a great conversation piece.
Cons: Expensive, pictures come out somewhat grainy, and overall; a decent camera that doesn't get you bang for your buck.

Summary: Well, the Canon SD40 is great-looking camera through and through. It's got a pretty decent color selection, and a really great looking, sleek design, but it lacks in the picture-taking department.
I'm not a photographer, at all, I use this camera primarily to take pictures of friends, family, or when I'm on vacation, but from personal experience; this camera is made for the look. For the hefty 350 dollar price tag, you really don't get much, in my opinion. I get horrible lag times between shots, which can get really, really annoying. The pictures come out with a really strange grainy texture, and it's honestly a minor improvement to the SD30, which I also own.
I'm a fan of the series; but I was honestly expecting more with this camera. I mean, this is great to show off to your friends, or to anyone really, as it really is a gorgeous camera. But, unfortuanetly, I can say that I regret the purchase, simply because for half of the price, you can pick a really decent camera that's just as sleek, and probably takes much better photos. If you're looking for something that's going to do more than steal a few glances from friends and family, I suggest looking elsewhere. -
Great price, but takes some getting used to

Pros: the picture quality was awsome, and the buttons were not crammed like other cameras
Cons: The snapshot button was very slipery, and the area around the lense always got smudged by fingerprints
