Great camera for all but professional use.

Summary: This is my second digital camera. My old camera was a Canon Powershot. I have also used my son's Sony Cybershot. This camera is very easy to use and takes great pictures. When I print them with a dye sublimation printer, they look as good as those I've taken with my 35mm camera. The camera is slow in low light situations, but it has a strong flash and the pictures come out good. My old digital camera was worthless in low light. I don't like the dock feature to recharge the camera - I think it will be inconvenient when I go on vacation.

Summary: I have to agree with the editor review that the camera is slow in lower light situations. I don't think the picture quality is poor, however. This is my first digital camera, though. It takes awesome pictures outside. I like that the imaging sensor is a little bigger than many other cameras available now. Of all the added features, I use the panorama stich the most. They come out looking great. You have to buy a different dock if you want to view directly on a tv but I only use it with my computer. I got a cheap no-name spare battery. You'll average about 150 pictures on one battery. I got a special deal and rebate so the price was not a big factor but would have been otherwise.

Tough, decent camera
by Marcsr453 on August 17, 2007
Pros: Exceptional viewing screen. Good feel, easy to use, lots of useful features and tough body.

Summary: I bought this because of the 3 inch screen and the price (Clearance at Staples). It feels good in the hand and is very easy to use. Not long after getting it I dropped from my desktop onto a carpeted floor. No problem. Just kept on ticking like nothing happened. (That right there is a rating point). The images are pretty good for a point and shoot, and the camera responds extremly well when taking photos and turning on. It focus fairly fast and the menus are easy to navigate. The screen is beautiful and a big feature of this camera. In fact, I think the screen resolution and brightness, makes up for any of the nits of this camera. I heartly recommend it. P.S. HP makes some overpriced leather cases for this series of camera. Good cases, but not cheap.

Great start, lousy finish
by KHRobinson on August 28, 2009
Pros: Initially, I was thrilled with this camera. Loved the stitching feature. I used it for indoor shots and outside homes. I created some beautiful brochures for my seller's homes.
Cons: Hated the docking feature - I always have to jiggle it to get the conection to turn on. It sat in it's case unused for several months, and now the battery will not hold a charge. Bought a new battery & it won't hold a charge more than an hour
Summary: hp no longer makes the battery needed to operate this camera. That should be a big RED FLAG. A camera shop determined the comparable battery ordered a new one.

I've charged it 3-4 times now. Each time the camera worked just fine. I would take 3-5 photos, turn it off and the next day, the camera was dead and had to be recharged. For the money spent on this camera - I am not a happy hp customer. -
Good Family Camera
by CKFisher1 on April 30, 2009
Pros: Never have to replace the batteries. BIG screen. Easy to use. Decent zoom. Inexpensive. Small and light. Many features and good instructions. Software package was user friendly. More durable than expected.
Cons: Not fast to snap a picture. Got less accurate, clear pictures with age.
Summary: We took this camera almost everywhere we went for almost exactly three years. Took more than 10000 pictures.

Liked not always replacing batteries because it charges the onboard battery when docked and unloading pictures. We got an extra battery for when we used up the charge when on trips.
BIG screen. The largest I've seen on this small and inexpensive of a camera. Easy to use, even for some of the more gimmicky features. I found some features useful that I didn't expect.
Software package that came with it was user friendly and offered more features than Canon or Nikon that I have used.
More durable than last 4 cameras purchased, including an HP, Polaroid, Nikon and Olympus. It doubled the usage of the Nikon and Olympus combined.
Not as fast to snap a picture as I would like it. It almost always automatically chose the better exposure levels than I would but I sometimes would like to have better feedback mechanism. It will take longer exposures in low light but if you aren't prepared for that you get blurry pictures. I have seen other digitals in the same price range with the same or worse issue but it is annoying.
It seems to be wearing out. The focus is getting more and more randomly out of focus. It has been doused in water and pop. Dropped and played with by three young children, but it seems that being stuck in a purse was its undoing. It got turned on while in the purse and the focus ability hasn't been the same. Got three pretty good years though. Getting service for it is NOT turning out to be a plus. No one works on them locally. -
Great value for the Money
by sirjames2 on December 4, 2007

Summary: I have had this camera for about a month and in retrospect would purchase it again. I bought it at TigerDirect for a great price and it was worth it. The panorama feature while novel to me works quite well. The other features such as night, action, and sunny modes are terrific. Camera looks nice, has nice heft and the auto-retractable shutter cover works flawlessly. If professionals need more then there are other camera options. For my money this is a great deal.

Too Much Wires
by condadopr on December 3, 2007
Pros: Display is great, the battery lasts forever...
Cons: Charger option and download option sucks
Summary: The docking already 'short circuited' this is a very bad decision on HP to have to use a dock... Too many wires to carry with if you want to download....
