Iffy value on this one
by cobalt_arrow on June 23, 2007
Pros: Cheap price for audio/video recording cap; not a ton of things to learn to use
Cons: Video playback on the computer was horrid, Kodak customer service is in name only

Summary: I tried 2 seperate cameras of this model and had the same problem with both: the lighting reqs for doing vids is alot. If I didn't have huge amounts of lighting in the room the video playback on the comp using the supplied software was abysmally dark and nothing could be seen. Kodak's customer service is laughable if it wasn't for the fact I paid over $100 for this camera. The still pics it takes are good though. Also the supplied manual and the online manual (basically it's the same as the one from the box) are terribly insufficient. There's buttons on the camera they don't tell you how to really use at all. The supplied software suffered simialr deficiencies.

tops other budget cameras

Pros: even has an anti-shake feature, many scenes, high ISO, zooms in video mode
Cons: flash is not strong enough

Summary: For the cheapest budget camera I've found (around $100)in the market today, this one tops the rest of its class... clear crisp pictures in all sorts of light (even backlight), even an anti-shake feature present usually in expensive cameras, and the zoom works even when you are in video mode. So far I am enjoying the experience.

Summary: I have owned a couple bulkier cameras with more features that this one, but I am very please with this camera. The picture quality is excellent and with a 1GB SD card I never have to worry about running out of disk space. My wife complained about too many features with our other cameras but she loves this one.

I got one of these for Christmas.
First one came. Worked long enough to snap a few photos and record some videos. then stopped powering up.
Second one, would not power up at all.
So, in short, it is a P.O.S. Don't bother wasting your money.
Mom got it from Dell. Either they got a bad batch or it's just bad camera period.
Either way, it was a waste of my Parent's money and it ruined my damned Christmas. Thank for nothing Kodak.2 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

Overpriced for the quality and battery life.
by Vonnie- on November 30, 2009
Pros: Setting for moving objects, different types of lighting,
x3 zoom, can crop and double pictures, easy to use, you can undelete pictures.Cons: Horrible battery life.
Dark video recording & uploads the videos in huge files (QuickTime)
Inaudible video recording until uploaded.
Some pictures turn out "grainy" if it's moderately dark inside/outside DESPITE the flash option.Summary: 299.95 is a TOTAL rip off for this camera! I bought it last year for my birthday, and since then, I've taken hundreds of pictures and a few ...
Summary: 299.95 is a TOTAL rip off for this camera! I bought it last year for my birthday, and since then, I've taken hundreds of pictures and a few videos here and there, but they hardly bring a smile to my face. This camera has not made me a happy camper.
Please note, the price dramatically dropped from when it was first shown. (299.95 when I seen It)
The battery life is absolutely horrible. I've bought tons of quality batteries only for them to go to waste, as well as the rechargeable ones so this camera can act the way it should. An eight pack of quality (and commercial) batteries will last you a week, a week and a half tops.
The picture quality itself is simply okay, there is only one feature that I feel saved this camera was it's ability to take pictures in what seemed to be high definition IF (and only if) you hold the shutter release long enough in a well lit area, on top of staying still to avoid blurring (If you're not using the anti blur setting).
The downside of it is that it does NOT do well with semi dark and dark places. If you're going to take pictures in your home, or outside it when it's getting late the pictures will have the tendency to come out grainy and old looking. What's sad is that if you have a lamp on in the background, to simply help the camera, the grain is slightly more visible. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't look like static on a television, it simply looks like the picture was not developed well enough.
What really made me angry with its camera is how poorly the video recording was! There are TWO major flaws with it and need serious revamping. One; You can't even hear the audio UNTIL you upload it to your computer. And two; it uploads incredibly huge files and requires you to download a very old device that uploads videos for you VS other cameras that upload the videos in small files using the multimedia tools that are already installed on your computer. 4 minutes of video can take almost half an hour to file share or upload to a popular website--and this is coming from someone who has a high speed internet connection and an average amount of memory/RAM.
Not to mention, the video recordings are incredibly dark, even in natural light. There is also a lack of editing you can do to your video, you can't even create it in black and white; not to my knowledge anyway.
I am very aware that this camera isn't built to make movies, short or long, it simply wasn't made for that, but I am very, VERY, disappointed with how mediocre it is, and the fact that you'd have to reupload an entire video because you aren't able to see how it sounds before you upload.
I seriously feel like Kodak didn't care how the video portion turned out, because the picture quality is okay and just slapped an extra 199.95 onto the price because it can record, not because it can record well.

Beautiful shots, very user friendly
by DrewS1972 on August 18, 2009
Pros: Top flash control button, easy to use screen display, nice digital and optical zoom, very "meaty" camera to hold and shoot. Nice detail provided for each function, and good image stabilization.
Cons: No sound in video playback.
Summary: This inexpensive yet functional camera proves why it is best to stick with a digital camera company that originated in film photography. I am very pleased with the product overall.

I was blown away with the quality of the pictures.
by 1holyterror on June 3, 2008
Pros: The price is right considering the quality and ease of use
Cons: I can't think of one!
Summary: If I had to buy all over again I would still buy this camera.

Summary: I recently bought this camera for my mother-in-law and I tested it before we gave it to here. I was pleasantly surprised b the picture quality and ease of use. It took good pictures and had a nice set of features. Like many pocket cameras (even much more expensive models) it performs iffy in low light and it does not have a rechargeable battery set but these are minor points when considering the price of around 75 dollars. I would wholeheartedly recommend this camera for any novice photographer looking to buy a new camera.

It'll do the job

Summary: This camera is decent for the price. I'd say its good for regular point and shoot pictures, and you can even get some pretty good high quality photos out of it. It's not great for photos or videos in the dark or high contrast shots - it misses a lot of detail. For example, taking pics of the interior of a room with a bright day outside shows just bright white coming through the sliding glass doors, rather than the outdoor landscape that is actually outside the doors. Adjusting the settings to see the landscape outside the doors makes the interior room very dark. The scene settings provided are decent though.
It can also be a bit slow if you want to take pics in quick succession.
The 2x self timer that takes two shots is pretty cool. -
It is cheap, It works.

Pros: none this thing is just average
Cons: Picture quality when you use the flash.
Summary: If you don't spend the money on cannon or sony, than It will work but you will never be impressed.
