Extremely good camera
by oregonjade on November 25, 2005
Pros: The DX7630 made better.
Cons: None. Really.

Summary: (My info: I'm a DX7630 owner who purchased four of this model today as gifts and a backup camera for myself. I've taken thousands of digital photos over the last seven years, and currently do children's portraits as a hobby, and also do stock photography using these cameras.)
This camera has the same specifications and materials of the DX7630, with a couple of additional features (PictBridge compatibility, for example).
There has been minor modifications to the shape but it is still very grippable and pocketable. The lens cap has been changed, and having been an owner of the DX7630 for over a year, it's an improvement. The dial movement is improved.
That said, those are all minor changes. The best part, the fantastic quality photos this camera takes, remain the same. It has a very intuitive interface for a newer user, while at the same time has many options and settings available for those who wish to customize. It's very technophobe friendly.
This camera has relatively few artifact and noise problems compared to the other cameras in the same price range, and has a higher resolution. The nice part about the resolution is, yes, you don't really need it if you're going to print the entire photo, but if you want to be able to crop (and improve) the photo for printing, there is sufficient resolution available to crop out 3/4 of the photo, and still have quality 8x10 photos. It's possible to truly take advantage of a digital cameras possibilities in this way.
Battery life is quite good, and the memory card space generally stretches farther then the estimates. The screen is clear, and zoom works well. It's a great camera for anyone, regardless of their photography experience.21 out of 21 users found this user opinion helpful.

GREAT camera! I love it!
by gert_sop on December 27, 2005
Pros: video with sound (my old camera didn't have this), LCD, all of the settings, I like the software, too.
Cons: Lithium battery.

Summary: I bought this camera the other day, and I must say I am VERY impressed with it. I paid $225 on the camera, $35 on the memory card, and so, the price after taxes was $285, which is very good for this camera. I love all of the settings, very nice. The bulky end of the camera is perfect for one hand gripping. I also love how you can take pictures in natural color, black and white, sepia, etc. Very nice. As far as I can see, it is pretty good on battery life, and I really like the dock that it came with. It's great for charging the batteries.
My only problem with this camera is the fact that it came with a Lithium ion battery. It is pretty good on battery life as far as I can see, but Lithium batteries are so expensive, and in the event that my battery does run out, I can't just pop in two double A's.. I love this camera, and it is a GREAT value for the camera! I highly suggest it.5 out of 5 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: this camera is easy to use with a good feel and weight. The controls are easily manipulated with thumb and index fingers only. Full control of exposure and f stop also wins (I will rarely use em)great pictures with good support software. Can't speak about the dock, I only use it to recarge the battery which seems to have good life. Also, it comes with a 256MB SD card (I assume, mine did)I think that you should be very happy if you use the camera for everyday photos and are beginning to experiment with advanced photo teqniques. (it's infinitely cheaper and faster to experiment with digital photos than waste big money on photo processing on "experiments") Anyway, I like it, it works and it's easy on the wallet.

Summary: This is my first real digital camera. I have had cheapo's that took low res pics before. I really like this thing. The Charging dock is great for getting pics off the camera and charging. The screen has a very crisp picture. The camera takes great pictures. All of this and I only paid 199 plus tax during a day after thanksgiving sale. I would highly recommend this camera.

Great Point and Shoot Camera, for a low price!
by sabresfan007 on December 28, 2005
Pros: 6.1 Mega Pixels, big 2 inch screen, good feel, unlimited video playback, quick flash re-charge, price, comes with dock.
Cons: Bulky for a compact camera, the spin dial control is a little hard to use.

Summary: This is a great camera overall. I found it online at Walmart.com for $199.00. It is a wonderful 6.1 MegaPixel beauty. It supports video with playback and sound, and a variety of other features. The multi mode selector function does wonders, by allowing you to select the situation to shoot with the proper settings. Also, the camera allows some manual configuration, dealing with f-stop and such. Good flash recovery allows you to take about 3-4 pictures, as fast as the camera will go. It features a huge 2 inch screen which is nice and bright so you can view your pictures automatically. Also comes with a dock and rechargeable battery, allows you to take many pictures on a single charge, put it on the dock, and push one button to traqnsfer your pictures onto your computer, while charging the camera. Excellent!
Now the things I really didnt like...This camera is listed as a compact, but it is rather bulky. Don't get me wrong, it has a great feel in your hands, but its not something you can slip in your pocket. Also, the camera's mode selector is a wheel that you spin with your thumb. It is kind of hard to get used to, but it will work.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I got this camera for christmas and let me tell you, it is AWSOME!!!! The photo resolution is great, it's fast, has many settings both custom and automated, it comes with a dock that will charge your camera and simultaneously put your pics on your computer.....IT TAKES VIDEO WITH SOUND! I mean all of this for $200??? That can't be beat.....just because it doesn't say canon, pentax or whatever doesn't mean a thing....give this camera a chance and you won't be disappointed!!!!!

Great camera for the money.
by abpav on December 23, 2005
Pros: Nice picture quality, responsive camera, lots of mode settings, 6.1 mp
Cons: Not so good video quality, video recording in Quicktime format only, cannot use zoom when recording video
Summary: Pros
Best camera for the money. Excellent picture quality. Camera is very responsive with quick picture to picture time, even indoor w/flash, without any shutter lag.
Cons
Camera only ...Summary: Pros
Best camera for the money. Excellent picture quality. Camera is very responsive with quick picture to picture time, even indoor w/flash, without any shutter lag.
Cons
Camera only works with a proprietary lithion battery which might be inconvenient (you can't just pop in a pair of AA's).
Video quality is unimpressive, with only low video resolution available. Video files are in Quickime format only, and will not playback on many DVD players.
In conclusion, if your looking for the perfect high resolution camera you'll have to pay 100's more. But for everyday quality photography with occasional use of video recording this camera cannot be beat for the money1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I've had this camera for over a year and its great. The only issue is that sometimes when there is low light you need to use night portrait mode which requires little to no movement in order to get a clear picture.
This camera features many settings including some manual options.
The picture quality is great, clear and crisp. My only complaint is the pictures could be more vibrant.
I bought mine refurbished on Ebay I wouldn't have paid $300 for it.
