After 5 months, still NO Rebate
by RobynC on March 1, 2005
Pros: Small, cute, comes with charger, easy to use
Cons: After repeated calls & re-faxing rebate info, NO $100 REBATE!

Summary: The camera is OK, but don't trust the rebate that they "promise." I bought this camera in early October. I photocopied everything and sent the $100 rebate to Nikon immediately. Near the end of December, I called Nikon to find out the status of my rebate. They had no record of it and said to wait another month since they were behind in fulfilling rebates. I called in January. Still no record of my rebate, so they asked me to fax my photocopied rebate submittal to their rebate center. I did this twice. I called the contact person for rebates two weeks later to find out the new status of my rebate. She said it was being "cut" that day (February 8th) and would be mailed to me that week. It is now March 1st, and still no rebate!
It has been almost 5 months since I sent Nikon the rebate forms, and still no rebate.
My words of advice....Don't buy it if there is a Rebate involved. It is not worth the hassle of all the phone calls, waiting on hold, faxes, mailings, and then not even receiving your rebate in the end.
As for me, I will never trust a Rebate offer again (especially from Nikon). Nikon uses the Rebate as merely a phony marketing ploy.5 out of 5 users found this user opinion helpful.

Excellent overall; beats out competition
Pros: My preferences for picking a camera are: -Must have 3+ Megapixels -Must be compact -Preferably Steel Body -Must have 2x, pref. 3x Zoom -Must be nice-looking -Good battery life -Decent price($200-300 range) -Good video preferable -Sound recording preferabl
Cons: (A lot shorter than the pros section!) -The only flaw I can find so far is that the sound isn't so great. You have to press your ear to the sound outlet to hear things properly, or scream instead of talking while making a video/sound recording. Not a huge

Good average camera
Pros: Small camera, easy to use functions
Cons: the flash at night is a joke, doesn't capture anything. The on/off button is incredibly easy to hit accidently. I kept mine in it's camera bag whenever not in use, but it still managed to turn on by itself. I had a lense error within 1 week of purchase. I

Blurry Pictures
Pros: sd, tv-size video recording, small-sleek and lightweight, great battery life, nice use r controls
Cons: poor picture quality at night, or faster moving images, very hard to take images that are not blurry-even in well light areas and trying hard to hold the camera steady, I've even have trouble when the camera is on a tri-pod or stationary, the pictures sti

The best point and shoot I have ever used
by xnoybis on April 3, 2007
Pros: Able to survive brackish and saltwater for 1.2 seconds, great photos, able to withstand 10 foot drops, drops at 40+ MPH, great outdoor photos, decent indoor photos, ridiculously long battery life
Cons: digital zoom has purple fingering, unit is not happy after 2 seconds underwater
Summary: I have gone through 3 of these units. There is a reason this camera is still selling for 200+ US dollars. I first purchased this camera in Japan for ~ 400 ...
Summary: I have gone through 3 of these units. There is a reason this camera is still selling for 200+ US dollars. I first purchased this camera in Japan for ~ 400 US dollars. I have since purchased 2 of them in the US for 250 and 100 US dollars. The camera has very simple contorls; you are expected to import and modify in graphic converter or photoshop, but the images you get with this camera are simply amazing for the money. I have used plenty of 5, 6, 8, and 10 mpx cameras, and this is the one I come back to. In the end, it's not the max resolution, but the image quality that counts. This one seals the deal. I am expecting this camera to become a cult item.

Good First Camera. Good Photos and good video in a small footprint.

Summary: This was my first camera. I was quite happy with it and I think its a great first camera. But for serious photography you need to ramp up to something much more advanced.
The Nikon 3700 takes good pictures, don't get me wrong. I would still recommend it to anyone. I love the small footprint it has. As you hold still when you take pictures they should all come out clear. If you move a little the pictures will be blurred.
I always try to take two or more pictures of the same thing just in case. And now that SD cards are so cheap you can afford to take extra pictures because you can fit so many on one card.
I recently took over 100 pictures at the highest quality setting and had a few seconds of video in there all on a 128MB SD card. Now that's pretty good.
I was on vacation recently and my uncle was playing his gutiar singing a song. I hardly ever get to see him so I setup a tripod, attached my camera to it and recorded his three and half minute song all on video. It's not great video but it's still pretty good.
My father recently bought a $1,200 Canon digital camera. He has several lenses with it, each costing between $400 and $900. He's let me use it and it is nice. Great pics.
Thanks,
Joe M.

I Love My Nikon Coolpix 3700

Summary: Bought my Coolpix 3700 last December and it arrived 2 days before my daughter's wedding. Read the manual on the plane. With it I also purchased a 512mb flash card. Day of the wedding I took 125 photos and about 20 minutes of movies. Still had battery life left over and could have taken more photos. Lately I read a review, where the man downloaded picasa2 from Google. I did and wow... really compliments the camera. Did I mention after my rebate(received in ten days)the total cost of the camera was $125.00 Cannot tell you how much I love this camera, the only thing that I would like seen approved upon is the movie mode... very noisey when you play it back. However, that's why I bought my camcorder. The other day I found a after market battery for $7.00 just in case I need it, but they recharge in less than 2 hours anyhow. I'm sure there are much better but I'm satisfied for the price I paid, I believe it can't be beaten. Look for a rebate, buy and enjoy.

Summary: This camera served me well for a few months.. it's a nice compact camera that takes good photos. I had some problems though in low light with blurring and the camera using the flash when it was unnecessary.
Then the lens got stuck and wouldn't work, so I had it sent in for repair. It was on warranty so it was no cost to me. Then about 2 weeks later the lens broke again, so Nikon said they would re-do the repair. Than a couple weeks after I sent it in, I get a letter from Nikon saying the lens was physically damaged when no such damage occurred and they wanted $191 to repair it. I called them and told them that the lens broke all on its own. They wouldn't change their minds so I had them send it back to me. It would have been pointless to pay that much to repair it. I bought a new Cannon camera for less than the cost of repairing the old one.
