The good: The Nikon Coolpix S9300 has fast shooting performance, a wide, long lens in a pocketable body, and several fun and useful shooting modes that help you get the best shot without much effort.
The bad: Competing models from Canon and Panasonic have longer lenses and more shooting options for the same suggested retail price and the S9300's photos aren't the sharpest when viewed at larger sizes.
The bottom line: The compact Nikon Coolpix S9300 is a good choice for anyone after a pure point-and-shoot experience and a long zoom lens. But, depending on needs, you might want to wait for a price drop.

Major durability issues
by rxfrx on March 16, 2013
Pros: Flash is good in low lighting
Like the wide-angle lens
Good picture-to-picture speed
Pictures are good in auto mode
Good options availableCons: Tiniest dust specks seem to enter inside the lens even despite care. 5-way toggle wears out quickly. No way to turn off auto-rotate on auto mode. Low battery indicator only comes on when battery is nearly gone. Blurry photos on auto mode.
Summary: Bought 2 of these cameras for my business two months ago. We shoot 500 pics a day mostly outdoors on auto setting at 2mp for internet-only use and never use ...
Summary: Bought 2 of these cameras for my business two months ago. We shoot 500 pics a day mostly outdoors on auto setting at 2mp for internet-only use and never use features like GPS. We take great care of our cameras and use neck straps so then have never been dropped or abused.
One camera developed on its own the need to be zoomed in slightly just to ensure that the picture remains focused. Both cameras on auto mode always have given us 5-10% fairly random slightly-blurry shots which unfortunately seems too common in comparable cameras as well.
After a month, the 5-way toggle on one of the camera is worn so it selects its own options many times: for example, the camera nearly deleted all my day's work when I tried deleting a single photo!
No camera seems to do well when shooting subjects with the sun behind them, but this camera does exceptionally poor. Tiny dust specks are attracted to the lens both externally and get inside the camera somehow; beyond the dust, the cameras will often streak magenta as well in these conditions.
I am looking to add another camera to my business and I will not be repeating my purchase of this camera as I had hoped to when I first bought them. I will probably be seeking warranty assistance on one if not both of these cameras. If the camera held up, I'd definitely consider a repurchase as it does have some good things going for it.
