Summary: After charging the battey, I was able to use this wonderful camera. I love being able to put this camera in my pocket and use it wherever I go. Being able to crop and magnify the image a number of times and still have a crystal clear image is amazing. I suggest an extra battery and a 512 or 1 gig of extra memory. Have fun

Fantastic camera!

Summary: I love this little camera. I have just come back from a trip across four continents, and I can tell you that I could not have wished for a better camera. Now, I don't want to mislead you, the photos will turn out blurry at first. If you use the anti-shake feature, you are limited in HOW the photos come out (resolution, megapixels, color). My advice to fix that problem (if they are blurry, then it is the PHOTOGRAPHER'S problem, not the camera) is to follow the camera's suggestion on how to hold it. It really does make a difference.
I only put the camera in my pocket a few times, and never had any problems, though I do know that cracks are a possibility with this camera. Most of the time, I put it in a camera carrying case, which with the camera, a spare full battery, and an extra memory card, it was all able to fit in the palm of my hand. I don't remember what the brand of the case was, but it's probably nylon and I bought it at Target.
The screen is pretty amazing. It's 2.5 inches, which is really great and easy to use. You are not squinting like you would with other cameras. In fact, the resolution on the screen is less thant that of the camera's abilities. Yeah, it's that great! Just about everybody on my trip this summer wanted my camera -- they spent their money on Kodaks and Sonys, but my photos came out the best, and my camera was ALWAYS ready to be used.
The camera is All-Weather (I think all Olympus brand cameras are). In my travels this summer, I was able to use it flawlessly in the pouring freezing rain, in the snow, and in the desert. It has it's temperature limits, but chances are you'll be within them. They are wide.
As can be expected because it is a longer exposure time, the night mode can be difficult to use, especially without a tripod.
For batteries: buy ONLY the Olympus and Maxell brand batteries. I got an average of 500 photos on each (though Olympus lasted a little longer), and that was with looking through the photos several times. People will say that with these being rechargeable batteries, you shouldn't buy, however, they last SIGNIFICANTLY longer, and will be cheaper in the long run. Especially since this is a camera without an optical viewfinder, using alkaline batteries would be absolutely foolish, and lithium would be good but the same performance would not be gained.
If you buy it, only buy the Type M XD memory cards. It comes both Fuji and Olympus, but the catch is that if you want to use the panoramic function, you have to have an Olympus. Looking on amazon.com, I was able to get my Olympus 1 GB cards for $54 each, they are normally twice as much.
So far, I have taken about 5500 photos and it's working just as great as it was when I took it out of the box.
I work in a photo lab, and I would recommend the Stylus 600 to all my customers. I actually have several friends that plan on buying it, and my apartment is decorated in photos I took with this camera and an older, 35mm model (Stylus 150). I took down my posters because my photos are that great.4 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I had this camera for two day and returned it. I was a little disappointed with the quality of the pictures. Some were blury. This camera does not come with a viewer so you have no choice but to use the big lcd screen. I found the lcd screen was amazing indoors and in poor lighting conditions, but not too good outside on a bright sunny day.
Anyways now I own a Kodak Z740 with 10X optical zoom. Love this camera!4 out of 5 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: The Olypmus Stylus 600 is an excellent camera for the price bracket. Firt off is the Huge 2.5inch LCD screen. It function great indoors and out. I had no problems whatsoever even with the sun behind me shining on the screen.
This camera is also very simple to use. My mother had got to grips with the basic controls of the camera within 5min! This is a world first for her as she usually has trouble with simple appliances (pressure cooker anyone :P )
To top it all off, the image quality is perfect. Downloading images was a pinch. No software required to download (it does help though).
All in all a great camera, with a more than great price.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: i had this camera for a month and i thought i would love it. but you cant judge a book by its cover. this camera may look nice but its proformance is terrible. The image quality is very low since most the pics u take are blury. the screen on the outside is nice looking in dark lighting but looks terible in the sunlight. the screen easy breaks as i have learned while it was in my pocket and broke. I would advise anyone from getting this camera!

Best Camera I've ever owned !

Summary: I just love this camera. It has to be the finest digital camera I've operated. The buttons make ease of use, not cumbersome at all. The variation of types of backgrounds to select is quite vast. The directions both in the help menu on the camera and in the user guide and the disk are very detailed and self explanatory. If you are looking for a SLR, this isn't the camera for you. But if you are looking for something just below the SLR, this is the camera for you.

Summary: I had the camera for just a few weeks when the lens wouldn't retract, making it unusable. Had to send it to Olympus for warranty repair. Turnaround time was about two and a half weeks. Just got it back, and although the lens retract now, the lens cover does not tightly close up, i.e. it can freely slide halfway open. Will have to send it back again.

Summary: I like the feel of the camera, the big LCD, and the picture modes, but unfortunately the pictures just aren't very sharp. Awful redeye. Shooting in low light? Fuggedaboutit. Every other shot is too blurry to use.
On the plus side, when it does get a good shot, it's not terrible. Unfortunately, I was letting these decent shots skew my overall impression of the camera, and now it's too late for me to return it.

Summary: I have had this for a couple of days and already want to return it. The picture quality is not great. I have tried different shooting modes but it still takes soft pictures. I'll spend a little more and get something with image stabilization.
I choose this model because it was they only one in it's price with a rechargeable battery. -
