Photo quality and menu system are shoddy
by robandroll on October 15, 2010
Pros: Love the 8x zoom and the HD video
Cons: Soft photos - No contrast and very minimal definition. I was hoping for sharper pictures from a 14MP camera.
Elementary menu system - It looks like it was a total after-thought.
Video upload difficulties - can't get them to upload correctlySummary: I returned mine to Amazon and will be going with a trusty canon. I was excited about the 8X zoom, but if the photo quality stinks, zooming in just gives ...
Summary: I returned mine to Amazon and will be going with a trusty canon. I was excited about the 8X zoom, but if the photo quality stinks, zooming in just gives you a close-up picture with bad quality. I'd rather have a 4x zoom with high quality.

Zoom and stabilizer are highlighted
by Kaiser-1980 on April 7, 2011

Cons: Feature set poor, not pleased at sites of low light without a flash generated dark photos, almost imperceptible and lacked control over ISO

Summary: The picture quality is not as great, lacking in pictures and apply compression freedom in control. Also, there was a lack of control for low-light environments, where we could get photos without using flash. Lenses are average, generating light curva.Os factors ISO has large scale, could be 50-50 or 100-100 and more control of noise.

very good value for price.
by tigerflick on March 13, 2011
Pros: good ultracompact camera for men with big hands. sharp images and video. very good low light images (without flash). quick startup time and response time to snap.
Cons: flash responses poorly in close settings. few too many mode options. burst mode can produce grainy results.

Great camera for the price but lacking LOTS of features
by TD_Trader on March 6, 2011
Pros: Easy to use, lightweight, compact, and great easy to use buttons and controls. Excellent quality photos!
Cons: No USB 3.0 so the file transfer is really slow between the computer and camera. There is no mini-HDMI 1.4a output, so you can't connect the camera to a 1080p television to view pictures or videos. No 1080p Full HD video or optical zoom recording.
Summary: EVERY camera should have at least one mini-USB 3.0 port, and a 10Gbps Thunderbolt I/O port (with a HDMI 1.4a display adapter/cord) for computer and 1080p ...
Summary: EVERY camera should have at least one mini-USB 3.0 port, and a 10Gbps Thunderbolt I/O port (with a HDMI 1.4a display adapter/cord) for computer and 1080p HDMI television connection. I'm disappointed that the camera doesn't have Full 1080p HD Video camera recording with optical zoom while recording (as you're recording video it should have the ability to optically zoom in and out). Those should all be STANDARD features for all 2011 cameras. The picture quality seems almost as good (if not better) than my Canon Powershot. I purchased this camera for $109 on special, and it's an incredible value camera for the price! If Panasonic would add a mini-HDMI 1.4a port, or a much faster 10Gbps Thunderbolt I/O port (for Apple MacBook Pro and newer 2011 laptop computers, 2011 televisions and 2011 monitor displays). If this camera had 1080p Full HD video recording with optical zoom, stereo sound, and a high-speed Thunderbolt I/O port for file transfer between computer and camera, then I would be in complete love! Panasonic, please add these features that I have mentioned, and create a DMC-FH24 camera for 2011 with all these features (and also make it a 18MP camera with full 1080p HD recording with optical zoom and stereo sound). It's so lightweight, compact and easy to use it's wonderful carrying this little gem in my pocket. It's a great compact camera to carry along with my DSLR. Please add 1080p Full HD video recording with stereo sound, and a mini-HDMI 1.4 port (and a highspeed 10Gbps Thunderbolt I/O port for data transfer between camera and laptop/computer).

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH20
by suecarreiro on January 9, 2011
Pros: Great, clear pics. Great zoom. Easy to use.
Cons: For such a great camera and price the PLASTIC battery cover broke in 4 months. Panasonic says that "damage" voids the warranty and there's a charge for the repair.
Warning.........never by a camera with plastic parts! -
Awesome Performance for the Price
by Kellyocaca on November 8, 2010
Pros: The "Intelligent Auto" setting gets 95% of all exposures just right. And for special lighting, ASA, etc., I just switch to the Manual mode, using either my preset or I use the fast and easy controls to adjust to the environment.
Cons: Occasionally when shooting one handed my thumb activates one of the controls in the upper right hand corner on the back...a small point, but has made me regroup when shooting in a frienzy of action. Not Usually though, by any means.
Summary: I could not believe that this easy to use a camera was only about $155 at discount. My last camera, five years old, was a dinosaur compared to this super ...
Summary: I could not believe that this easy to use a camera was only about $155 at discount. My last camera, five years old, was a dinosaur compared to this super fast-click camera. I use a lanyard on it and it is always ready to shoot with a fast recovery time from off to on. I highly recommend it for its easy controls, sharp pictures, and clear, crisp video and sound.

Summary: Ease of use makes this a no brainer. Excellent photos in all lighting conditions. No problem with functioning in all types of weather. Held up better in high heat than many DSLR's. Good range of menu selections in easy to find format. Does more than you would expect from a camera in this price range. Recommend to all looking for a pocket camera or backup to DSLR for use like old Poloroid shooting to setup professional shots.
Specifications
- Manufacturer: Panasonic
- Part number: DMC-FH20S
- Description: The 28mm wide-angle lens lets you easily capture large groups of people indoors or expansive architectural structures and scenes with dynamic width and rich perspective, even from short distances. The DMC-FH20 sports a powerful 8x optical zoom lens (35mm camera equivalent: 28-224mm). This gives you highly natural expressions from people and animals that you can't get close to. And its slim, compact, pocket-sized body can easily go wherever you do for both everyday snapshots and traveling. When you don't know which mode will give you the best shooting results, or when a sudden photo opportunity pops up and you don't have time to make any settings, simply choose iA (Intelligent Auto) mode by simply pressing the dedicated button and let the camera do it all for you. You just choose iA mode, aim at your subject, and shoot. 4 detection and correction functions are simultaneously activated to optimize the settings, so you get stunning photos every time. The DMC-FH20 can record motion images in high-definition (1,280 x 720 pixels at 30 fps in motion JPEG format). The pixel mixed readout method enables bright motion-image recording even in low-light settings. The DMC-FH20 can also record full-size motion images in WVGA (848 x 480 pixels at 30 fps) or standard motion images in VGA (640 x 480 pixels at 30 fps) and QVGA (320 x 240 pixels at 30 fps). The energy-saving Venus Engine IV image-processing engine and the efficient, rechargeable lithium-ion battery which has been slimmed down to fit into thinner camera bodies work together to extend the shooting time of the DMC-FH20. This lets users take approx. 300 shots on a single battery charge.
